User

Me and my partner have just moved to the area and have commandeered this wonderful village pub as our new local (despite there being several options closer to us).. The setting is beautiful, the pub is very well maintained, food is absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced and the atmosphere is lovely. There is always plenty of room to sit down and the huge garden area makes this place an easy choice to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The staff are very organised and polite and have always been very friendly and helpful to us. We've recently bought bikes just so that we can get to and from this place, so it goes without saying that it comes highly recommended from us!

User

Love love love this place - 5 stars for food and just a lovely cozy atmosphere . However after eating our scrumptious roast today I must say mayb u need to sort out your log fire as the whole pub was full of smoke , sore eyes and we absolutely stunk when we left which has also made my new coat stink . But hey I’m not complaining as such , just thought I’d point it out as a lot of people were complaining .

User

First time we have been here Excellent meal and excellent service very good value nice atmosphere would definitely recommend it and would go agai without a doubt

User

A group of 23 of us booking with 3 days notice was absolutely no trouble for the team at The White Hart. Making last minute changes on the morning was not a problem, and the food served was plentiful, delicious and piping hot. The staff were excellent, providing great service throughout and nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very welcome, in a lovely setting, and had food too match. We are fortunate this is 5 minutes down the road and will not hesitate to go again on another work lunch outing. Our huge thanks go to all the team at The White Hart.

User

We booked a table for 8 on Saturday evening. My father has been very sick since 2am Sunday morning with apparent food poisoning. We suspect from the prawn cocktail starter as it’s the only dish he alone had. We can’t prove it was from the food here, but I’d exercise caution with the seafood. Otherwise the food was decent pub grub, nothing exceptional.

User

The food was lovely, the pub is lovely. It’s just a shame some of the staff were grumpy. At one point there were only 2 people running the bar in the lunch time rush which was unfair on them considering the carvery was on too. I don’t blame the staff (actually felt sorry for them in this heat) I blame poor management.

User

Good food but service is very slow! Over an hour wait for our mains unless you had the carvery , shame as service lets this place down & management didn’t seem bothered.

No menus on tables, no waitress service.

Place let down by its service.

User

It’s very disappointing that for the third time in the last few months there has been a stop on food orders! Tonight we were told to order food in an hours time! Not the level of service you expect to receive from a well renowned pub.

User

Rude management. Place plate of sizzling fajitas in front of my 9 month old son but the oil was spitting hot and burnt my skin, luckily it missed my baby. I mentioned it to staff, to avoid if happening again in case another baby wasn’t so lunch and the manager was so rude- she just didn’t care and told me it has to sizzle. I since spoke to food safety team and it’s actually against the law to serve oil hot enough to burn. Haven’t visited since. All I wanted was an acknowledgment and an apology. I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Quote: "Dedicated to offering our customers the very best in food and service". Considering you can book a table on-line up until 8:30pm, why, when we show up at 8pm are we told "the kitchen is too busy but you can order dessert"? There were many empty tables, no queue at the bar and I guess the poor sods who reserved a table (but had not yet arrived) will be disappointed when they get told the same? Or will they be?

Perhaps we should of just sat at our table and booked a reservation on-line from our table...... I was of the understanding that this is a food-led establishment. And i could understand it if we were told there was a "wait" on the food - but "no food"???

Perhaps they were short staffed?

Very disappointed is an understatement...

Dear Sir/Madam

I’m writing to feedback on my experience at the pub on Mother’s Day this Sunday just gone.

My husband and I visited last year for the Sunday carvery, having heard great things. I was pregnant at the time and we had such a lovely meal that we decided to come back again for Mother’s Day. This was our first proper outing since our beautiful son was born and we wanted to celebrate of course.

Being Mother’s Day I wanted to spend it with my baby and so when I phoned to book I let the gentleman on the phone know that I’d need to bring a car seat with baby, and please could we be seated to allow for that. They took my booking no problem.

When we arrived for our 2pm seating we had the car seat attached to the pram. My husband spoke to the lady in pink by the bar who appeared to be in control of the seating, to find our table. He joked that the table was for two, no two and a half as we had the baby - to be snapped at “well is it two or two and a half?”. She then said she didn’t know where we would put our pram. I said that I had mentioned when booking about bringing baby and the response was that “well we can’t fit Prams at the best of times”.

We got no assistance - i said I would take the car seat off the wheels to take up less room but we were placed on a table where I had to put our son on the floor . We ate our carvery and left within half hour as we just felt like such an inconvenience to the pub. Surely a chair could have been offered at least to put the car seat on? I knew it would be busy which is why I mentioned when booking.

We’d planned on staying fir a few drinks and desert to relax, but did not feel comfortable to do so. If we couldn’t have been accommodated then why take our booking? It made for a pretty shoddy first Mother’s Day. Such a shame because the food was wonderful.

I don’t know if the lady was the bar manager or owner, or will even be the one reading this but I’ve felt compelled to tell you about our experience so perhaps more consideration can be given in future. I’ve struggled with getting out and about with the baby as it is and to be made to feel like we can’t even enjoy a pub lunch with baby was really rubbish.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Yours sincerely,

Clare Handley

We are sorry you did not have room for your pram but on the day you were offered the table in front of the one you sat at so that there was slightly more room for the baby . It may be better next time if you book for three and then there will be plenty of room

User

It’s been FIVE weeks now and not a reply!!! This is absolutely disgraceful, if I could report them to someone higher then I would! Reviews are so important to a business, clearly this establishment doesn’t give a damn about how they make people feel..........disgusting customer service!!!!

Still waiting for a response to the below having sent 3 messages now nearly 2 weeks ago.

3 weeks now and still no reply, even though they say on the website “typically responds same day”

Absolutely appalling!!!!!

Good evening

I just want to express my disgust at the customer service myself and my family experienced today when we came for our Mother's Day lunch. Initially we had a table booked for 8 people plus 1 child, my Mum made a phone call this morning to check the booking time and was spoken to very rudely by whoever answered the phone, my Uncle then called to ask to add one extra person and when we saw him at the pub he also said he had been spoken to very rudely on the phone. During our dinner my niece was playing with items on an empty table behind us, and whilst yes perhaps she shouldn't have been doing this but instead of being asked politely to stop the lady in the long pink blouse with the blonde hair who appeared to be in charge gave her an extremely filthy look. My niece is 3 years old. At 4pm we orderd desserts and were told we only had 15 minutes to eat them as we were only allowed our table until 4.15pm, this had not been specified when the table was booked and our main meal foods actually took around an hour to come to the table after we ordered them, perhaps if you give people a 2 hour time slot you should give them their food a bit quicker. Whilst waiting for our desserts I then heard the lady in the pink blouse (again) say to a colleague whilst standing behind us 'they're already here but they've all just ordered desserts'. This was clearly referring to the group that was due the table after us and said in a rude and sarcastic tone loud enough for us to hear. We were then interrupted repeatedly by waitresses whilst eating dessert asking if we had finished when it was clear people hadn't. This whole experience really spoilt what should have been a lovely family get together in a pub we usually really enjoy going to, not sure we'll be coming back.

User

It should be called George and Dragon after the land lady she had attitude from our arrival it was far too hot wasn't aloud to open door or window so we didn't stay for a pudding as we were melting all the tables round us were moaning about her attitude and how she spoke to people like shit not one person come over to see if everything was OK and we had to find our table no one showed us where it was never again

User

I went with my family today to have a meal (there were 10 of us). I was absolutely disgusted with the attitude of who I assume was the manager. She was rude and confrontational for absolutely no reason when my cousin wanted to move an empty table back as he could hardly breathe! We overheard other people who were unhappy too. After reading the reviews on here seems like it’s a common problem!

We were seated by the carvery with another family next to us and we were absolutely boiling hot and were told we weren’t allowed to open the door or window and if we were hot we needed to go outside.

Also, when we arrived and my elderly Grandad was buying drinks the woman serving at the bar with blonde hair was rude, no manners and practically snatched his money from his hand.

It’s such a shame as our meal was really nice. Let down by the customer service. I’ve received better service in McDonalds! We won’t be returning!

User

Disappointing service today .

Pre-booked weeks in advance and informed them we would be bringing a baby In pram (3months) . On arrival a pram would not fit the allocated table as they hadn't noted this down (or my name correctly) at booking .

A polite young gentleman moved us to a more suitable table, only for a rather bumbling rude lady (who we can only assume is the landlady) to come over and move us back to the original unsuitable table that would only just fit the pram next to - making the experience very awkward .

She was instantly confrontational when explaining she needed us to move, and unhelpful when when we explained the new table would not be suitable, we even heard her 'telling off ' the young gentleman for 'pissing off' the customers !

Not the most professional way to conduct matters. She then returned after we had ordered dessert and we were told to move the pram completely away from the table into a doorway which of course left us with the only option to hold the baby whilst eating ... not ideal.

Could not fault the food but recommend some customer service skills for this particular lady.

Would not recommend for families, made to feel very uncomfortable.

User

Came in tonight to be told I couldn’t eat unless I had reserved a table . This would have been fine if it was fully booked however there was atleast a dozen none reserved tables . There was clearly an issue that they weren’t prepared to tell me . Very disappointed , poor show and with no explanation , will not be dining there again , thank you Harvest home for saving the day
