Evening folks, just a quick post to say we are closed tomorrow (Monday) & re-open at 3pm on Tuesday.
Whilst there is a lot of noise about how lots of pubs are struggling, we've had one of the BEST YEARS EVER & we're celebrating with a staff away day & party.
It's thanks to our AMAZING customers that we are having great success, but our pubs wouldn't be our pubs without our fab team & tomorrow we are celebrating them all.

Good pub grub and a lovely lake side view and on a hot day like today the cooling breeze of the lake was just what we wonted

User

Came for breakfast and it was sooo good we came back for dinner. Fish and chips was beautiful and the brownie is to die for. Lovely hidden gem. Really great staff, great atmosphere and lush food. And the chef was a star! Thank you and we will def be back to try Sunday lunch.

User

As always we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were warned food could take 45 minutes. It came a lot sooner and we really weren't bothered about waiting as we didn't prebook and got a spot outside overlooking the stunning lake. Food was delicious. Only negative we could could give was there was too much fruit coulis and cream smothering the lemon tart. Other than that staff were all very friendly and helpful. Of course we'll be going back

User

Small boutique pub hotel. Rooms were adequate. Big bed bit lumpy. Nice toiletries. We were advised to eat early as they expected to get busy. The menu was a little uninspiring but we found something we would enjoy. Unfortunately the meal was inedible over cooked, the manager was apologetic and didn’t charge us. Breakfast however was good. The staff were very attentive and extremely polite. 10/ 10 to them. Would recommend for a short stay, this pub overlooks a lake which was lovely. Bring repellent. Beware of the road down as its full of potholes.

User

Loved the view

Service good and friendly

Food nice & good quality

Could have initially acknowledged / served us tad quicker on sitting outside

Think coleslaw should be called spicy slaw so we know

Think meringue in Eton mess could be soft chewy rather than just hard

Think tables outside need wiping as this was not done before of after us & was sticky

Lovely old pub great venue

Would try again as above average for pub grub

User

Love this pub, food is amazing, staff are friendly and attentive. Only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because they’ve changed the menu and my favourite (beetroot tart) is not on there anymore- sad times.

User

Love this pub - the oldness and the feeling of welcome. Lots of children there yesterday, probably as it was raining or families will be outside by the lake. It is not the cheapest of menus but food is very good. Only stayed in the bar area.

User

Was busy for a Sunday lunch as expected but the queuing system was a bit of a pain and long....had the chicken burger in a brioche bun but turned up with no brioche bun and very dry, had to smother it in mayo and bbq sauce! Sweet potato fries were nice and apparently the veggie sausage and mash was ok. So a little disappointing as we were hoping to make it a regular meeting place for us and friends as we’re all 40mins from the Wiremill! Maybe we will try again in a week night?

User

It’s a great location with views across the lake. A good place for fishermen. The lake is used for water skiing too which can get noisy.

It was very busy and some other dinners were a little rowdy.

The staff are good and the food too. We had just a sandwich and a pint. Sandwiches come with chips or sweet potato fries. There is a good variation on usual pub fare - I had mackerel, dill and cucumber.

User

Location: lovely. Very pleasant watching people water-skiing. Parking: awful, potholes everywhere!!

Outside seating: most of it closed off which spoilt things. Very dusty and tables looked like they could do with a good clean.

Menu: food looked good but very expensive!! Had a soft drink whilst checking the menu. Left without eating.....

User

Great country pub with lovely view of the Lake.

Very nice instead too memebers of staff very polite.

Only disappointment is the food.

Took about 45 minute wait and when I got my salad it was drenched in water.

Need to go when it’s not too busy .

User

FAO AMY who promises to return your call within a hour, NOT! Appalling Customer Service after they have taken your money! After leaving a answerphone message and emailing you, I have had no response and to be honest the lack of customer service has really disappointed me. My advice to other customers is don’t pay by card as I have been charged twice and am now £103 out of pocket!

A response would be appreciated!

User

Waited 40 minutes at lunchtime. My husband's duck leg sat on a small pile of vegetables with no potatoes. My Caesar salad was too much for the small bowl it came in, brown ended lettuce in places with not enough dressing and a pool of watery liquid in the bottom. No one came back to ask us how our meal was. Very young and harrassed looking staff with no one seeming to be in charge. Management really need to sort this place out, it is definitely not a Gastro pub!!

Settled Bill and left without waiting for pudding. Wished we'd read the reviews on Trip Advisor before we went Not impressed and won't be back

User

The venue can not be faulted, absolutely stunning. The food however, so disappointing and terribly over priced! I took my boyfriend here on his birthday, we both ordered beef Wellington, the pastry was soggy, the beef was chewy, and it really wasn’t tasty at all. We were told it came with vegetables, we each got one broccoli which was really hard and cold! The portion size was pathetic to say the least. The service, not fantastic, we weren’t checked on through out the evening and no one even offered us pudding at the end of the meal. We were both hugely let down. I had called the restaurant about 10 times regarding my booking, no one ever answered the phone, I left messages about 4 times, no one ever called me back. It’s such a shame that this restaurant is so perfectly positioned in Surrey, I hope that they can improve the quality of the meals and the standard can be raised. I certainly won’t be returning any time soon! Maybe for a drink, but won’t be ordering food.

User

Over priced pre bought rubbish I’ve ever had the misfortune of eating! £11.50 for half a fillet of smoked mackerel and white bait with a dry under cooked part baked pre bought roll! Then the ribs where do I start??? Vac pac microwaved dry meat with a token dribble of over sweet bbq sauce with a green slim dressing dwarves on a tray with sweaty coleslaw and dry cheap chips buried underneath! And don’t get me started on the cheese sandwich! Ruined my partners birthday lunch and we only paid the bill because her mum was treating us! The pubs only saving grace is the setting which is very much let down by the food! Come on self service peanuts......are you kidding me?? I did mention to the bar staff about the bread and it was replace WITHOUT an apology but the replacement was just as dry as the first ! I will not return here to eat not will I encourage anyone else to eat there! You get far better food at a harvester and that pretty much sums it up!

User

On arrival 3/5 drinks ie spirits they didn’t have at the bar as they had a busy weekend previous. Our table booked for 17:00 wasn’t ready and when we was seated the young boy said we don’t have half the menu. When the food arrived it was cold and there wasn’t hardly any gravy on the plate. Staff was pleasant, views were lovely but food let it down. Just to add no disabled facilities

User

Great location and a awesome old country pub unfortantly that’s where it stops food is terrible service just as bad would give a no star if I could, could cook better food at home it seems they just microwave everything to reheat nothing is cooked fresh certainly not worth eating there and the prices well. On two beers on tap rest is bottles same with spirits!!

User

Appalling service pre booked table for group and was asked to pre order food which I sorted for our group to do. After45 min at the table approached to say food we had pre ordered not available accepted that and ordered other option but then took a total of 2 hours from seating down to get any food to our table with starters and mains coming g together because we were so hungry. Took lots of chasing staff to even get the to the table. Luckily food was ok although think anything would have tasted good as we were all so hungry- this place could be an amazing pub if managed well which is clearly is not currently.

User

After emailing The Wire Mill they offered no response??

Worth a read guys as it offers a true account of a bank holiday!

Hi, after we’d pre booked our meals with you guys we thought things would be made simple, however on arrival at the arrange time our table wasn’t ready and to be fair it didn’t really seem like you were expecting us at all.

The table was eventually arranged and we sat down, our drinks ordered did take a while but we forgave that on the basis it was bank holiday and the sun was in full effect! The food looked great on arrival but didn’t fulfil the expectations, there was a lack of veg/greens and the food itself was cold, the spuds were hard and barely edible and as for the curried parsnip, very random! We had a group of 13 and to be totally honest if half of them hadn’t travelled 3hrs from Nottingham direct to the venue they would not of eaten it but hunger alone consumed the undesirable meal. One of the party was our 86yr old grandma who’d travelled for 3hrs and she ate nothing.

The overall experience was shocking, some entertained your puddings and again they were far from luke warm and not justifying the price tag.

The young staff on hand tried to deal with the situation and expressed their sincere apologies but strangely there was no manager on site and we were in fact told the manager had booked the day off???

Wow bank holiday weekend and the manger had booked the potentially busy day as a holiday !!

Your staff did give us some discount and removed some meals off the bill which cushioned the blow slightly but if your kitchen had delivered with the food and offered us an experience we’d of gladly paid the original £259 bill..

Overall my mothers 60th wasn’t the family meet up and get together we were all hoping it would be, we were let down by your kitchen and regretted our visit that day, we left disappointed and very very hungry!

Would love to hear your comments and possibly be given an opportunity to experience a

decent hot Sunday roast one day!

decent hot Sunday roast one day!
