We ordered the beef and cheese baguette, served with chips and salad which was on the menu for the may 1st bank holiday. I can honestly say we have never tasted anything so delicious! A little messy to eat as there was a gravy dip, again absolutely delicious and certainly worth getting a bit messy! please put this dish on your menu, im sure you'll sell heaps of them!

User

Very friendly pub. Great atmosphere very friendly and helpful staff. the food was excellent *****. 1st time going there as was visiting family. will be visiting again x

User

This is our 'local'

Dee and Lance put so much into making The Woolpack the friendly, welcoming place it is.

The food is good, the Fish and Chips especially, and always arrives piping hot.

The 'Bomber Boys' have a corner devoted especially for them when they eat there, which is often.

User

Not impressed. Had to wait for ages for our food. Wouldn’t eat there again

I was palying at The Woolpack yesterday and every 3rd Wednesday of the month! All good fun !

For me it’s unusual to really like my local. I’ve lived in Southend (The Blue Boar, Prittlewell), Brighton ( The Basketmakers), Worthing (The George & Dragon, Tarring) and now Burgess Hill where my local (5 mins walk) is The Woolpack. I held my 60th here last year and it was really terrific. Marquee in the garden, food and live music. Everyone said it was fantastic. I’m sitting here now on a Bank Holiday Sunday enjoying a quiet pint and loving the fact that the landlord (Lance) and his wife (Dee) and most of the bar staff actually know my name and greet me by it. Greg deserves special mention for this attribute. I love the fact that every Thursday there’s a Quiz Night here even though I can’t be here because of the radio show. I love that the pub is a member of the Burgess Hill Business Parks Association as I am and we hold meetings here.

I love it so much that I have asked Lance to provide a bar st the 50th Anniversay celebration for St Edward’s Church just round the corner on the 14th July that I attend, where I got married and where I was made to feel welcome after a peripatetic few years.

It is definitely the best pub in Burgess Hill. As they claim to be be the best pub in the world I am not getting into the debate on that - but hey, this afternoon they may be right.

User

Dee and Lance have worked so hard to make this a warm and friendly pub with great staff and food. Great New Years Eve buffet and music. Looking forward to 2017.

User

A great place. Friendly staff who make you so welcome. Their quiz nights are the best.

User

Went for quiz night which was superb. Great choice of quiz masters. Food is overpriced and menu basic, lots of deep fried choices but tasty enough.

User

Very good food had fish And chunky chips they were fantastic and the fish had a really nice light batter well worth the visit and will go back

User

Very frendly staff and when they do get it wrong very quick to put their hands up to it ard put it right with out a fuss proper family pub

User

I am moving to burgess hill soon and will be using the pub as my local. Will be applying for a job there too if there's any vacancies. Family/dog friendly and wheelchair too! Good food, lovely staff and beautiful garden area

This visit to the Woolpack was a little disappointing. We have been before and have been satisfied with the meal. However this time my daughter and myself went for Sunday lunch. We were there around 2pm but they already had run out of lamb! So I had the roast beef and my daughter had the pasta dish. Both meals arrived literally within 5 minutes of ordering which always makes me a bit suspicious of how it was prepared so quick. The vegetables on mine were almost non existent. One small piece each of broccoli and cauliflower and a couple of carrots. The chilli on the pasta was so hot it hurt to eat it, and it was covered in far too much rocket. More rocket than pasta in fact. Won’t be going back for roast again. There are far better pubs in Burgess Hill for Sunday lunch.

User

A visit friday macaroni cheese tasteless, vfm terrible. Ice cream turned up no sauce , cant have a tab if sitting garden only if you sit inside ( in this weather ?)and customer service 2 out of 10, learn to smile and speak to your customers school report could do better.

“If it’s a pint of the usual or diner for you and the family and guests we look forward to welcoming you.

Cheers

Unfortunately there website lies, I’ve posted before at how child unfriendly this place is.

The first time at 20:30 we were asked who owns these with Lance pointing at our children who in fact were very well behaved at a private function and we were told in a rude manner we had to leave by 21:00 (which we knew) but he’s rude.

Today we were there as a end of season football celebration and was told to shut up several times even though we were not rowdy. At 20:00 we were told they wouldn’t serve us as we had too many drinks, yes we’d spent £500 but had 15 adults and as many children, and not everyone was drinking alcohol.

We were not a rowdy group and the kids were very well behaved but Lance doesn’t like children (I’ve experienced it before and I have well behaved kids everyone tells us).

We are definitely never stepping foot in this pub again, the owners don’t want families they will put up with them but only just. They like your money though, my two children are crying because they don’t know what they’ve down wrong and they’ve not done anything wrong.

There are loads of genuine local pubs who love families- make the effort and support them not the Woolpack.

The Wheatsheaf at Plummers Plain is lovely and only a 15 minute drive away, plus the Sportsman at Goddard Green. Great atmosphere and welcoming.

If you want a pub that doesn’t actually care about you but takes your money then the Woolpack is for you.

By the way the Woolpack is our local I’m embarrassed to say.

Wouldn’t allow entry because I was wearing shorts and a vest but allowed other people on wearing crop tops, other vests and thin articles of clothing, certainly won’t be coming to this shithole no more

User

Rude. Not family/dog friendly. They discriminate. Can’t give 0* unfortunately.

I've never met such disgusting people since living in burgess hill. We own 2 very well behaved rotties and being a dog friendly pub and living just a ten minute walk from the wool pack we have frequented here regularly until recently when we had our final experience. It was a Sunday and our pregnant bitch had gone into labour on the Friday and there was no sign of any pups come Sunday morning, I took my bitch to Brighton where she eventually had to have a c-section and very sadly lost the pups, while I was with her my partner took our male (the dad to the pups) out for a walk to calm him down, as he was worried about his best friend, so decided to stop in the pub for a quick pint. Whilst he walked into the bar and looked around it was quite busy and also 6 other dogs he could see on arrival, after being in the establishment for all of 3 minutes he was very rudely asked to leave by lance the owner, when he asked why the response he got was "your dog is too scary to be in here".

Massive shock as our boy have been visiting since he was 10 weeks old.

Very confused and upset he left and went across to the Weald.

When I arrived home after leaving my bitch in theatre my partner told me what had happened so I drove down to the pub and spoke to dee, also owner of the pub and she told me it was her decision to get lance to ask my partner to leave as she was thinking of the guests.

Very judging as he'd only been in in there a few minutes so what was the problem? our dog hadn't barked or caused any trouble.

My point was if you are a dog friendly pub you can NOT discriminate ANY breed of dog, so after some strong words exchanged from my partner to lance previously, he shouted in my face quite threateningly, told me he would report my partner to the police for verbal assault so I spoke to Dee and she told me she would not call the police, shortly after that I went back to the vets to collect one of the puppies from the vet who didn't make it and whilst we were digging a grave in the garden the police knocked at our door and after talking to my partner the police were confused as to why their time was wasted. I have never met such an abusive man, after speaking with friends this isn't the first time they have done something like this to people and being new to this area it's the first problem I have had in 3 years. We travel everywhere with our dogs and we are disappointed because we would often meet family here for meals and drinks but as from now we shall go to the oak barn, although they don't allow dogs in their building we are always kindly welcomed by the owner mark to sit outside and eat with our pooches. To be fair the food isn't that great either but they do sell my favourite prosecco by small bottle, they lost 2 very loyal customers and also we are neighbours, if this is how you treat the locals no wonder they have so many bad reviews.

User

Arranged a booking for my son's christening everything was sorted. I spoke to the land lady the following day to change the time for 30 minutes earlier for her to tell me that we can't go there she was very rude. I would not recommend this pub at all.
