Wow this place is amazing! Proper treasure for game lovers. Staff very helpful and friendly. Drinks choices are fine too and bringing children is not a problem at all. Wish it was closer to me.

User

We had such a lovely time when we visited today. The game the game guru helped us choose was so well suited that we spent the whole 3 hours playing just that game. Lovely atmosphere and the food was good too. Last but not least the staff were fantastic- so helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back.

User

We are ever so glad to have found Thirsty Meeples. The selection of games is huge, and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful about every single one of them. It's always worth a visit to discover a new game, and enjoy a delicious slice of pie and a cuppa. Keep up the great work!

User

Visited today for our first trip, took my wife (not really played boardgames) for out 1st anniversary, and after starting on one of my favourite games, Star was Xwing, we then moved onto harry potter battle of Hogwarts, following a quick run through with simon, we bashed out the first scenario in our time.

having spent some time sightseeing my wife insisted on going back to play some more harry potter, they fitted us in well, found space and the staff were extremely knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly, and i would 100% recommend a visit, and the coronation chicken sandwich is amazing.

User

This place is amazing! More boardgames than you can imagine and the staff are sooo friendly and helpful. Already planning our next visit

User

I am so happy to have found this place! The staff was excellent helping us pick out a game. We wanted a British game since we were all from the states and we got it! My only suggestion may be to have an upgrade with the food or just make it a bit more clear that the portions are more like snacks. We were expecting more creative meals. 😁

User

Had a wonderful time. We love board games and wanted to go with our friends for my birthday. I was so worried about trying to find a good game for a large group of us that would be quick to learn- but it was no problem at all. They gave great advise on games. I would definitely return! They have a fantastic selection for sale too.

User

Had a great time, the staff are really friendly and incredibly helpful. Will definitely visit again!!

User

Great place! Loads of games and friendly staff!

User

Great first time visit!! Very helpful staff and an amazing selection of games.... We will be back!!

User

First time in Oxford let alone Thirsty Meeples and had a great time, friendly and helpful staff, a huge selection of games and an overall relaxed feeling when there.

The biggest downside for me would be we didn't plan better to have more time there!

User

Finally managed to get here and wasn't disappointed. More of what others have said in their reviews, but really appreciate the effort made to accommodate my six month old baby who was with me. Staff really kind and made room for pram and even brought an animal stacking game in case it would amuse him to look at the wooden figurines. Not sure I spied any changing facilities...

User

Fantastic service from friendly staff who know their games and are able to explain them so that anyone can pick up the game and play straight away. Lovely selection of foods and drinks to choose from to keep you going during your games.

User

A huge selection of games to play covering pretty much all genres and age groups. There is also a great selection available to buy too. Great food and drink served by lovely staff. Just wish I lived nearer to Oxford!

User

What a gorgeous little gaming shop! Expensive food and drink, but a great collection of games to rent and buy (prices are half-decent too). Would definitely go back on a full stomach!

User

The staff were wonderful, helpful and very knowledgeable. The food was good with a decent selection but rather expensive, the drinks menu is wide and varied. The selection of games is... mind-boggling and the atmosphere on a busy half term day was warm, lively and fun (as you'd expect). Yes there's a cover charge but consider it as rent on the games (we played 3 in the 3 hour 'booking)

PROS: Games, staff, drinks menu, atmosphere

CONS: Price of food/drinks, time limit.

User

Staff are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful with finding you a great game and teaching you how to play.

The earl grey tea is also surprisingly good, which I wasn't expecting.

Only slight criticisms are that the premises are quite compact/cramped and the drinks service was quite slow yesterday (cold drinks were drunk well before hot drinks even arrived) but it was extremely busy to be fair.

It seems like a popular place and the owners must be turning over a good profit so who knows, maybe a bigger unit could be leased before too long to address the space issues.

Overall though a really enjoyable experience and will definitely be back. Great atmosphere in the place too.

User

Really great place, we travelled from Northamptonshire to experience such an original idea. The staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. The sandwiches and drinks were nice although quite pricey for what you get, the prices are on the website so I would recommend checking those out first. We would definitely go back again

User

Had a really fun evening playing games with some friends. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was great. Recommended!
