PUPPY CLASSES - NEXT BLOCKS STARTING MID MAY!!!
I will be running my next lot of puppy classes starting either:
- Thursday 16th May at 10am in Elstead Youth Centre... Or - Saturday 18th May at 9:30am in Seale Village Hall
We cover the basics of puppy ownership from common problems such as biting/toilet training etc to basic training (sits/downs/recall/leadwork etc). There will also be the opportunity for social time for the puppies (and the owners) in a fun safe environment!
These 5 week courses have a maximum of 6 puppies in each class to ensure each attendee gets enough 1 to 1 time should they need it and the puppies don't get too overwhelmed!
Children are encouraged to attend where possible, its important they learn how to be around the puppies too!

What do you do when it snows, practice your Scentwork of course!! Lovely video sent in from one of my level 3 Scentwork Students after class was cancelled on Friday because of the snow. I believe he is searching clove and gun oil mix. Great job Toby! (and Eliot of course :))

As Christmas is getting ever closer, please remember that a puppy is for life not just for Christmas.
Puppies are hard work and take a lot of dedication. If you are considering getting a puppy please make sure you have the time to dedicate to training and care for a puppy before you go out and buy one. Its no easy task bringing up a puppy!
If you are sure you want a dog, consider a rescue, they often have puppies and younger dogs available. Many younger dogs in rescues are t...here for relatively simple training issues such as jumping up or recall.
If you still want to go out and get a puppy please make sure: - You see the parents, ideally both but definitely the mother - You see the puppy with the rest of the litter and watch them interacting, watch for any signs of nervousness - The puppies all look healthy, clean eyes, ears and coat - Make sure the parents have been tested for potential conditions (hips, elbows and eyes) - Make sure the relevant paperwork is available - Puppies must be at lease 8 weeks old before they leave their mothers - Visit the breeder at least twice before taking your puppy home - If you have any doubts about the breeder, choose another breeder! - Bringing up a puppy is expensive, make sure you have the funds available to cover vet fees, insurance, food, toys, beds, training etc plus any extra unexpected costs!
