Went for my birthday early August with my partner. We arrived early for our booking so sat at the bar and was served by Marie who made us some amazing cocktails. After we was served by Chloe who was on her first day. She was very friendly and attentive and left a very good impression. We ordered two main courses (Grill and one pot) Both were absolutely banging. Chloe and Marie then sang happy birthday to me and gave me free brownies. They are both a credit to the restaurant! The only criticism I can give is that what appeared to be the manager was seen more often than not just sitting around out the front smoking. It didnt look good. Apart from that we had a fantastic time and will definitely come again if in Oxford.

1st time visit with my 18yr old son. My vegetarian 'Rundown' was really tasty and I'd definitely order this again, 241 cocktails ......what's not to like

Came here for my daughters birthday as it’s her favourite resturant and cuisine. Most of our food was reasonable although my sons burger was under cooked even thou it was brought to the table 5 minutes after the rest of the family had their main courses.



The quality seems to have dropped and the presentation of the food has also changed since our last visit about 6 months ago, we have come here almost 2-3 times a year since it’s opened. Like most good resturant chains they seem to start out well then turn rubbish. I hope this was just a one off.

After an awful experience a year ago, we visited again yesterday & what a difference, although it was very quiet in there, it was mid afternoon, the waitress was very friendly & helpful, the cocktails were great & the food was delicious, a real transformation, would definitely recommend

Busy place with good food and nice cocktails but the service and cleanliness left a lot to be desired!! Waitress couldn’t speak loud enough over the noise and had a couldn’t care attitude!! I have never seen so many unwashed glasses on a bar in my life..how the barmen worked around it all amazed me !! Needs a good clean everywhere for me to return!

Wow! What can I say about mine and my friends visit to Turtle Bay Oxford! We arrived around 7pm on a Sunday evening to what seemed to be a lovely relaxed and quiet restraunt however our visit slowly turned into a nightmare!



The waitresses took forever to bring us to our table. There must of been at least 5 members of staff on the floor with only 3 tables to look after after being told to wait time and time again we finally made it to our table.



When selecting our meals we were all told that our preferred dishes were not avaliable... All 9 different orders!! After going backwards and forwards to the kitchen(no less than 6 times) to check what was in stock we finally made our orders after nearly 20 minutes after she first came over. The waitress didn't seem to care about this and offered no sympathy or apologise. The starters arrived and were not to bad.



We then went on to our mains! All 9 of our meals were wrong!! not one single dish cooked or prepared correctly with parts of the meal missing or the entire dish served incorrectly. After trying to amend these mistakes and at least another 40 minutes later we still didn't have the correct meals brought out to us (keeping on mind we were then the only people on the restraunt) and one friend was still waiting for his meal to be brought to him and when finally brought out.... IT WAS STILL WRONG!



We tried to speak to a manager but it took him a long time to show his face. He was rude, arrogant and clearly had no training in customer service or complaint handling. After stating many times that it dose not matter we are the customers and that we were wrong in what we was saying we ended up leaving hungry, Angry and very disappointed.



The manager had also said at the bar that our conversations were boring and we needed to change them!! And when trying to order drinks he kept saying no... I think he was trying to be a comedian but he shouldn't quit his day job.... or maybe he should... He was terrible at that aswell.



I would highly suggest changing your manager and staff or at least give them some training!



Terrible customer service.

Do not visit here. There are many better places in Oxford to eat.

Really bad experience. Took my dad here for Father’s Day dinner, as we have been before and loved it. Waiter sat us down straight away, but then took about half and hour to ask us for drinks orders. We were ready to order food at this point so no big issue, but as we were ordering the waiter didn’t write anything down. We were all a bit worried by this but didn’t think too much of it. After what felt like another long wait, only 4 of the 5 meals came out after sitting under the heated lamps for 10 minutes (throughout the evening, loads of food was waiting here whilst the waitresses polished cutlery!). When we got them, 2 of the meals were wrong and one was stone cold. We sat awkwardly for a while, eating some of what we had been served, but sent back the cold burger and asked for the missing meal. We then overheard the chef telling the waiter this meal wasn’t on the ticket and the waiter then told us that we had changed the order, which we hadn’t! At this point we had had enough. We offered to pay for what we had eaten, but were told by the waiter not to worry and we left with 2 people not having had any meal and the other 3 having eaten half. Awful.

I’ve been to other turtle bay restaurants and I have to say this was absolutely terrible. Being from the Caribbean this was a disgrace to Caribbean cuisine. Half the food wasn’t available and what was available wasn’t even worth 1 star. Defo won’t be visiting again, not even in another city. Put me off completely.

If you are wanting authentic Caribbean food this is not the place to come. The only positive was the Jamaican Mule cocktail. This place would never see my money again. My friends did warn me but Caribbean saying “what you can’t hear you must feel “ yes I felt in my tastebuds and my purse.

We booked into the Oxford ‘restaurant’ for my birthday with 8 friends. We arrived early and ordered cocktails from the bar, whilst waiting for our friends to arrive. Firstly the barman, who we later realised was the manager asked us to talk about something else as our conversation was boring and it’s his job to earwig.



We then were taken to the table, which had been set for 8 not 9 but that was fine. The waitress then arrived to take our orders for starters 5 minutes later, where we were told they had run out of most of the starters and she wasn’t sure what they had. We suggested she could maybe check for us, which was greeted with a sigh.



Our starters arrived, which were fine, following by an attempt at our mains. Of the 9 mains we ordered, none were correct (mainly due to wrong sides included and the ‘pulled pork burgers’ had no pulled pork). We calmly advised the waitress of the situation, which was greeted by another sigh and a mumble that they have a new chef so it couldn’t be helped. By this point it had been more than 15 minutes since the first meal came out, 2 were now correct but the remaining 7 were still incorrect.



The waiter came over and said we would have to talk to the chef ourselves or just put up with it. At this point I had quite honestly had enough so asked to talk to the manager. Surprisingly the manager was the rude barman we met upon our arrival, who came over to ask what’s going on. I explained the situation, where he then asked the waiter right next to me if I was ‘lying’.



At this point we asked the manager if he could please change his tone, where he responded with “shush mate” and threatened to “get the bouncer to sort us”, which I can only guess was a threat. We therefore all left immediately and will certainly never return again.



We have been to this restaurant 12 months ago and it was brilliant and packed. This time we were one of only 2 tables and would guess the above level of service is the reason for the decline. Avoid at all costs!
