We always passed the sign on the way from London to drop my son off at uni. I was so pleased to finally stop by and look around.

What a lovely castle and grounds.

It was very interesting to learn about the history.

I defiantly recommend a visit.

Very nice but disappointed that the story in the exhibition room was not working plus the staff think that it won't be fixed for quite a while

Very friendly staff, a very small fort but worth the visit!

Staff so knowable about the castle and surrounding area, for children is great as there is lots of things that they can see and do, take a picnic on a fine day and sit a watch over the river Medway is a must, also beautiful quaint village and pubs

Staff friendly and fantastic spot which our children enjoyed exploring. Nice welcome from the staff who were very knowledgeable and great place to bring a picnic. Will definitely be back.

My girls and I live two towns away and love to come her to do the activities and have picnics when it's nice. Lovely friendly people.

I went with my husband and 3 year old son and we had a great time. There were plenty of rooms for my son to explore and some activities. The staff were friendly and helpful. Beautiful views across the river, pretty village with a friendly pub.

I got married here on the 7-7-17 it is a beautiful place, and all the staff were so helpful. Both myself and my husband John couldn't have asked for more :-)

Fabulous place with knowledgeable, friendly staff. Loved every aspect of it and learned some history that I never knew about. To the person who found it boring and wanted to blow their brains out, I suggest you do just that!!

A lovely day out, staff really friendly and helpful and the castle is wonderful with great views. We spent a few hours here and would go back with a picnic.

We visited over Easter holidays and I took two teenage boys and a young girl. The Easter hunt kept the young one busy as did the craft table :-) one of the boys loves history and very much enjoyed it the other was less keen but rated it 3/5. So I rate it 4/5 over all. I 100% agree with the comments about the staff being knowledgeable and friendly. But also that a few more aritfacts would add interest. That said some more were added since my previous visit a few years ago.

Nice to spend an afternoon. My kids enjoyed it. Good battle trail for my son to do. Helpful staff and lovely village to walk through.

Mick said not too much reading which was good. The reenactment of the Dutch invasion was good and the beer in the pub next door is good - Spitfire as a larger! xx

User

Interesting place learnt a bit of history won't be discussing with my Dutch friends though.

Great circular walking route nearby but check the tide tables to ensure you can walk along shore line.

User

A very nice walk from the High Street to the Castle. The castle is well maintained, specially the wooden spiral stair.

User

A nice sized castle offering great views of the Medway. The reenactmemts are fun and actually very informative. The village is a little gem in the Kent countryside and worth a look around. The pubs are very olde England with a great atmosphere.

Dogs will not allowed in the grounds, so we didn't go in! We went to The Kings Arms for lunch. Food good value, but for some reason, our dog couldn't settle inside ( which is not like her)

User

Not good, we drove all the from West London after checking online it was open, only to find out it was closed due to staff sickness. English Heritage need to do something with their website to stop this.

User

I would like to be able to write a review, however when we got to the castle yesterday there was a note on th door saying closed due to staff sickness. I am not sure I will hurry back.
