In case you missed the memo, new albums last week from the splendidly polar extremes of Green Day and Squarepusher! There's a nice secondhand collection getting cleaned and hitting the racks as we speak: Hawkwind, Rolling Stones, Stone The Crows, Pavlov's Dog, all sorts! Things in today: 1 The New Green Day album. And it's fab. It doesn't really sound like Green Day, more like a less bluesy Black Keys. And it's really quite short, which means you can listen to it TWICE in the time it takes to listen to normal albums, which makes it twice as good value. That is SCIENCE. And it is on lovely limited cloudy red vinyl. 2 A very limited Thom Yorke remix 12". Literally 3 left already. Run down for one of them. Like, RUN!

Lots of lovely things being added to the presales at the mo: New Nadine Shah...yay! But not til June...boo! But there's a lovely limited orange vinyl...yay!: Plus a new album from Shabaka Hutchings (off of The Comet is Coming and Sons of Kemet) for all you crazy jazz cats out there; Plus Anna Calvi is bringing out a re-worked "Hunter" called "Hunted" featuring Idles and Courtney Barnett, which sounds fun! (on limited red); Third album forthcoming from Soccer Mommy. Loved the ...last one ( on limited random colours!); Also the third from those crazy ramshackle Spaniards Hinds, but this new one sounds like it might be a bit more polished than previous (on limited blue); And finally Juniore, whose funky French indie pop seems to be on 6 Music ALL the time at the mo. NEW IN THIS WEEK: Second album from US indie-rock singer-songwriter Squirrel Flower. It's fab, part hushed folky and part noisy guitarry. AND it's the first record we've stocked on recycled vinyl, which is DEFFO to be encouraged. They are basically a swampy green colour. Nice. PLUS the new album from indie folkster Sam Lee, produced by Bernard Butler and featuring actual Liz Fraser. PLUS that wonderful and very limited 10" from Japanese post-rock combo MONO. (Squarepusher, Ha...ppy Mondays reissues, PJ Harvey's "The Virtues" soundtrack, and Torres will all be here Monday). Two VERY different things in today, really couldn't be much more different, like polar opposites, chalk and cheese, Yin and Yang maybe? (but probably not actually though): Caspian's "On Circles" on limited white vinyl. Fabulous US Post-Rock, mostly instrumental but with a couple of vocal songs. Epic and slow-building, crashing guitars, everything you want really.... And the new album from Pet Shop Boys, which is really rather good and has a guest appearance from Bernard Butler on guitar. Plus the new MOJO magazine is here, with Joy Division looking almost cheerful on the cover, and a CD with Idles, Protomartyr, Black Country New Road, Squid, Warmduscher etc. So THAT'S pretty good then.

New forthcoming things added to Presales today: 1 A 10th anniversary red vinyl LP of Bon Iver's "Blood Bank" EP, with added live versions. Nice; 2 Yet another new album from Ezra Furman, this one being the soundtrack to Netflix's "Sex Education"; 3 And a live (and instrumental, plus sax) album from our favourite Swedish psychedelic rock gods Dungen, which sounds immense from we've heard thus far. Two new things in just now: The fab new album from Texan alt-rock heroes And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead. On limited "indies only" clear vinyl; And some lovely soulful downbeat jazz by a London fellow called Alfa Mist. Called "Structuralism", it first came out last year, sold out quickly, now reissued on limited blue vinyl. Honestly, you'll like this a lot.
