Excellent to see the Willow Emerald population really boom on the Reserve in 2018 and it looks like we might have some next year too! Well done David - great shots!

The boys are back in town! Our flock of Hebridean and Herdwick sheep which are grazed all over the district are now back on the Reserve to help us manage Mill Meadow. The gates are still open on the Meadow at the moment so please remember to shut them!

Common Snipe showing well in front of Tern Hide this evening. Wonderful to see its feeding style at such close quarters. First Pochard of the autumn also noted tonight.

Lots of migrants moving through the Reserve at the moment. We have seen the first big push of Chiffchaff and Goldcrest in the last few days. I wonder when the first Redwing will be...

Misty start to the day this morning - lovely now though!

If you are interested in Horsham Park and the vital role it plays in being the central greenspace for the town then why not pop in and support the fantastic work the Friends of Horsham Park are doing. Their AGM is coming upon Thurs 18th Oct.

This doe Roe Deer has been frequenting the Mill Meadow and Dipping Pond area often with a fawn in tow! Keep your eyes peeled on the main paths for them 🦌

After a difficult week on the Reserve with the problems with illegal bird trapping it is with great pleasure I can now share this video with you. The Blue Tits which were suffering the effects of glue were all cleaned by the Wardens and looked after over the weekend. All have made a full recovery and were released on the Reserve this morning. Our thanks to RSPCA (England & Wales) and Tim Thomas for the advice given on the clean-up operation

The RSPCA (England & Wales) is appealing for information after glue traps were found on bird feeders and vegetation at the Woodpecker Hide at Warnham Local Nature Reserve
Please read more here (content warning: the post contains images some readers may find distressing) about the incident at the Reserve and what to look out for in the future. http://socsi.in/s1bOi

Beautiful shot of one of the Kingfishers from Reserve regular Brent Yeomans 👍🏼

A stunning Box Moth (Cydalima perspectalis) caught this week in the moth trap. Sadly it is a pest of Box and has spread rapidly across the UK.

TERN HIDE CLOSED - Please note that Tern Hide will be closed tomorrow (Weds 12th Sept) for scrape maintenance in front of the hide to improve the habitat for wildfowl this coming winter. Apologies for any inconvenience caused

Good morning from the Nature Reserve ☀️

Absolutely stunning image of the Great White Egret which spent Monday on the millpond. It is our 4th record for the Reserve and second in 2018. Well done to Ian Redman for the stunning picture 👍

User

Many thanks to the 36 volunteers from Horsham Green Gym who helped Ryan put the new water trough pipework underground as well as made more muddy edges around the wader scrapes. A fantastic job, well done everyone! 👍

Still a lot of birds moving through the Reserve this weekend with another Sedge Warbler and the second Grasshopper Warbler of the year.
