My husband and I stumbled across this little beauty for a late lunch on a hot sunny Sunday afternoon. A wide selection of food, cakes and pastries at a reasonable price. Dog friendly place offering towels and ice cream for dogs. Very pleasant, we will be visiting again!

User

Fantastic brunch - really family friendly and great service. The food is locally sourced and very well cooked. A really enjoyable experience!

User

Lovely cafe with a wide choice of eats and drinks in a lovely location. The only reason I haven’t given 5 is because the music inside was too loud to enjoy a conversation so much so that I struggled to hear what the servers were saying. Definitely a place to return to and next time with my pooch in tow

User

Lovely brunch on a rare day off from work with my husband. Great setting and service very good despite other negative reviews.

User

Location is lovely and sitting outside in the lovely weather was really nice. Service time was ok but probably should have been quicker as it wasn’t a busy time. Food quality was good but not wow!

User

I have been here a number of times since it opened. The walk is beautiful, cafe dog friendly with dog washing facilities and towels and the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup are super tasty. Food expensive, always crazy busy from 10am on weekend, can't always get a seat, tea always served cool and scaley (although I love the mugs they should serve tea in a pot), last time I went a young lad served me, he wasn't friendly or polite, all my friends ate but my food never came. The manager refunded me and apologised, also said she was sending the lad home! but the experience has rather put me off, which is a shame as its so local to me. Cake selection amazing, menu great but expensive. A victim of its own success, sadly its gone downhill. Will be using Pony & Pooch at Westcroft instead now

User

This place has gone downhill in the past 6 months. Like to come here for a short ish walk and have a hot drink after. Past 2 visits our drinks were cold, cups are dirty, scaly tea, tables are dirty and the staff stand around and do not clean down. I mean, is there a manager here motivating the staff and getting them to keep the place well maintained. Could be a fantastic place if the staff seemed interested in customer service. There is always lots of staff but the place seemed so in organised. It is was me, I would have a serious look at what’s going on as this could be a really nice place to come in future.

User

Service was very slow we had a wait of 40 minutes for our order

Pancakes so bad we got our money back

It is a shame with correct management and staff it could be perfect

User

Not sure what happened to this place but it used to be awesome to go to after walks !

4 people at the counter not one bothered to serve , when finally served , got the wrong stuff. And coffee ???? I call that a lukewarm milk with a slight coffee aroma.... sad but that’s not how it used to be . Disappointing to pay 10.92 two for two cups of coffee( which hardly seen a shot of coffee or been checked for temperature) and the smallest piece of cake ....

User

Mixed visit for breakfast, full breakfast fine but pancakes and bacon disappointing. Bacon too crispy to cut or put fork into and maple syrup had already been poured on pancakes when served, not sure how much or why it congealed on plate. I’m sure last time we had pancakes they were better than this, these seemed pre made and dry. Amused to see advert on door for four flavours of lactose free ice cream for dogs but can’t bring grand children here as they have dairy allergies and on last visit there was nothing for them. Think we will breakfast elsewhere before coming for a walk in future.

User

I’d heard such good things about this place. Food being excellent and good service. We went for the first time about 3 weeks ago with our new born. First impressions were that the place was very crowded with tables (not customers!) and we found it a little difficult to get a pushchair round. After ordering we waited around 15 mins. I think it was clear the staff were quite young and inexperienced. They were friendly enough but appeared easily flustered. The donut was very dry/stale and tasteless. Either it had been hanging around a while or it was a ‘unique’ taste. We did complain and to be fair, there was no hassle in getting something else free of charge. Unfortunately this was distinctly very average aswell. It’s not a cheap place and I’d expect better for this price. On the positive side The coffee was ok. Overall, we came away quite disappointed and are unlikely to return anytime soon.

User

It’s a lovely location and the food is very good. Big Issue - told today there was a 1-hour waiting list for cooked food and it took 25-minutes to get a coffee served. Unfortunately this is most of the time you go here, not just today!

As much as we like the walks with the dog and the choice to have a coffee, etc. It’s quicker to drive to The Cricketers in Horsell and order food there.

The management need to sort this problem out.

I was very dissapointed with the Italian night. I think they should stick to what they did before without the evening events. The spaghetti was served on a flat plate and not a bowl, the bread was not Italian style bread, the pasta was not freshly made pasta There for there was nothing Italian about the evening. The food was ok. No ice for our drinks and it was an extremely warm evening. My daughter said the lunch time food portions have been made smaller than they used to be. Such a shame as I used to love this place.

User

First visit to waters edge yesterday with my handicapped sister. Excellent location but service in cafe was about as bad as it gets. Most of the staff were hiding in the kitchen, which is a shame as after waiting for half an hour for four sandwiches, like many customers, our order had not been started?? Don’t know what they were doing ? Saw other customers with similar issues and having to return uncooked food. To be fair we asked for our money back and got it straight away, but this shouldn’t have happened. Looks like a bit of serious management and this could be a gold mine. Hope the bosses listen as I can’t be the only one?

User

This used to be a lovely place to visit but it is now very overpriced and the food is extremely poor. I ordered a jacket potato (at a cost of nearly £9) which I sent back because it arrived cold. Two others were sent back in the time I was there. I'm not going to go back.

User

The customer service is appalling. We booked for Brunch with Santa at the 10:00 sitting. We preordered our food 2 days before. We should have known there were problems when we arrived for our 10am sitting and the 9am sitting were still being served. The opening lines were also worrying when we were asked to bare with them as they may having teething problems! By 1130 (there was a 11am sitting waiting to get in!) we had not even had a coffee and left having been promised a complementary lunch for my family of 4 by Steve the owner. Many excuses later for their poor performance we have not heard back from Steve and have been offered £20 to spend in the restaurant. No lunch for a family of 4! I would love to continue to support this local business but poor management with little Business understanding of what made Water's Edge a successful business has had a huge negative effect on the restaurant. Understand your market, plan events effectively, stop making excuses and maintain standards to keep the once loyal customers coming back.

User

Sorry to say that I waited 40 minutes for a cup of tea.Told 1 member of staff after half an hour waiting then still no tea after being told it would be straight out, then had to tell another one when my tea still hadn't arrived.

User

Rubbish.....poor service and expensive. Only saving grace is the location but otherwise awful.

Check out the reviews on the Horsell Wire...I am not alone.

Many better places locally, eg John’s Cafe Primo in Horsell, Cafe Class Horsell too.

User

Horrendous customer service! My 7 year old accidentally dropped her whole breakfast on the walk into the restaurant to escape wasps. She was really upset! I explained what had happened, they were just cross that they had to pick it up and did not ask if she was ok or even if they could get us something else. After avoiding us, I spoke with the young lady in charge who stated she didn’t know what happened (even though she did) and that if we wanted another meal ‘we’d have to pay for it!’ .... hmmm nice! I explained to her that ANY other restaurant I’ve been to would have offered my daughter something else as a good will gesture. We shared my breakfast as we had spent all our money on the first breakfasts! Very sad! I’m presuming they didn’t have kids themselves otherwise they’d understand that these accidents happen
