We're very excited to welcome back local author A F Harrold and illustrator Emily Gravett for the launch of their amazing new book THE AFTERWARDS.
The Afterwards is a powerful, poignant, darkly comic and deeply moving story about friendship at its most extraordinary.

Jo Brand’s new book, Born Lippy, pours all of her experience of being a woman into a hilarious and touching memoir, taking in the mistakes she has made along the way, and her thoughts about how it is possible for things to be different. We’re delighted to welcome Jo for an intimate evening at Waterstones.

Join us as we celebrate Heritage Open Days 2018 with an evening of local history:
We are delighted to welcome John Painter, one of the authors of new book 'Reading Abbey and The Abbey Quarter', to Waterstones Reading, in this exciting year when the Abbey Ruins and Gateway have reopened following restoration.
John will be talking about the Abbey's foundation, the relics that made it famous, the part it played in royal and parliamentary life, the story of its downfall and its ...continuing influence on the geography and buildings of our town. This will be followed by a book signing.
We also warmly welcome Reading Museum Guide Ben Bishop, who will talk us through Reading's version of the famous Bayeux Tapestry a faithful, full-length replica of the original except in a few beguiling details!
Find out what the original purpose of the tapestry may have been. Discover how Victorian society's values affected the replica and how it came to reside in Reading, so fittingly close to the ruins of the Abbey built by William's youngest son, Henry I.
Refreshments will be provided. Further details: 0118 9581270

Last minute Christmas shopping is never fun and never easy, but this is by far one of my favourite Waterstones stores and everyone is superbly helpful when you need to find something or need some advice. I also had the total pleasure of being served by the loveliest lady in the world today, as we discussed Carol Ann Duffy - so thank you for putting a huge smile on my face!
