James Parsons Jnr has taken a 30lb 8oz common from The Gate swim Kingfisher Lake at around 5am this morning. James commented “Using my good old faithful homemade wafters with a 3 bait stinger of dynamite's complex t boilies. The fish put up a good scrap under the rod tip and was nice to tick another fish off the list !! Now time for the big commons 😊🤞” Good luck James 🎣

Simon Mercer has taken a huge cat of 75lb from Mallard Lake! Simon commented “I caught the cat out of peg 15, Pete’s Swim fishing out towards the end of the island. I used a double halibut pellet over a wide spread of pellet (something different as everyone else on the lake was fishing over a tight bed of freebies delivered via a bait boat). I slowly built the swim feeding 20 baits every cast, I missed a couple of fish and then hooked the cat at around 4 pm. The fight was brilliant, I was using a 5lb tc rod and 40lb line and the fish still managed to make two crazy runs stripping 40 yards of line each time and once in close tried to find every snag on both sides of the bank! I really enjoyed catching it after losing a few lumps on previous trips” well done Simon

User

Joe Thelwell has taken a stunning tench at 12lb 4oz! Joe was fishing Bill’s Corner Kingfisher Lake and was using a solar candy floss wafter for his catch. Well done Joe a cracking autumn tench.

User

Wayne Clarke came back to finish his session after a family emergency and took a 32lb 8oz cat from peg 16 Mallard Lake using a krill boilie. A nice start back to Wintons after a 19 year break with a PB cat of 70lb and 2 lovely commons.

Matt Phipps enjoyed his weekend at Wintons and managed to catch through that hard rain Saturday! And commented “Great 48hrs peg 3 Mallard Lake caught 5 catfish 31lb 45lb 50lb 60lb 67lb, good company with Gary Cochrane and always great staff and fishery all caught on pellet” well done Matt the cats are certainly still feeding

Wayne Clarke was excited to be back at Wintons after a 19 year break! Fishing at Wintons regularly as a child during the 90’s with his father who became good friends with Ethers he’s now passed the baton to his son Billie. His session has landed him 2 stunning carp and smashed his PB cat record twice! The first carp came within 2 hours of a 72 hour session at 19lb taken on a single banofee boilie. This was followed by a PB cat of 51lb 8oz. Not long after he took a second Comm...on at 21lb 8oz on a krill double boilie. Not finished there he’s smashed his PB with a 70lb cat specimen! Wayne is fishing with his son from peg 16 & 17 Mallard Lake and commented “Broke my PB again 70lb bang on the dot on double soaked salmon pellet and small krill pop up, over the moon on the second night of the session. 40lb line and around a 30 minute war with #Ethers shouting in my earhole come on Clarkee it’s another PB get it in !!!” Well done Wayne 👍🏻🎣 Great to see you back

A PB catfish of 59lb for Dave Mitchell! Usually carping Dave wanted to give the cats a go and has sent in a great report “I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and everyone associated with Wintons. I knew I was in for a good time when I booked last weekend. I was pleasantly surprised by bailiffs and other members they were so friendly and helpful. Especially Phil Cochrane who spent a considerable amount of time with Jon and I putting us on the right path to success. Now for my catch report! I was on Mallard in peg 11. Using double salmon oil soaked pellets toppped with a pineapple pop up. Landing my first ever cat weighing an amazing 59lb” well done Dave a pleasure to have you and Jon at Wintons

User

James Parsons Jnr a Wintons bailiff is showing how it’s done taking “Drop Tail” at 35lb at 3am this morning followed by “The Big Mirror” at 11am weighing in at 44lb 2oz. James is fishing from The Fat Finger Kingfisher Lake and commented “both taken on a single complex T wafter, with a bag of crumb fished to where the fish had been showing most of the afternoon. Happy days !!”

User

More usually seen on Kingfisher Dan Banks has taken a pristine common carp on Mainline Cell from Mallard Lake at 18lb. Great fish well done Dan

User

Brad Newby is thrilled to report a new PB catfish of 84lb 8oz! Fishing peg 2 Mallard Lake the monster was taken on a single catalyst boilie soaked in Amino Blend specific tuna coated in Krill powder. Brad commented “Was caught from peg 2 on Mallard lake at first light this morning. After a long 40 minute fight I managed to slip the cat under the net. Over the moon with my new PB. Big thanks to the bailiff’s assistance in peg 1. 3 days to go hoping for more to come!”

User

With the cat fishing slowing now is the time when the carping gets exciting and the fish are looking their best! Jimmy Jamieson didn’t disappoint and has had a fantastic week session on Kingfisher managing to bag three of our well known residents. Firstly “Jaffa” at 30lb, followed by “The Big Mirror” at 44lb 5oz (definitely on the munch at the moment) and lastly “The Banana Koi” at 24lb. Jimmy commented “I was particularly pleased with my last capture bananas at 3.30am I was... awoken by a couple of fish crashing to the right of me in the entrance to Bills Corner I immediately retrieved my right hand rod and very stealthy placed it one rods length away and by 4.30am was rewarded with Bananas that only gets caught roughly once a year” Always a pleasure to have Jimmy at Wintons hopefully see you again soon 🎣

Well done to Darren Lamb with a new PB of 79lb+! Fishing Mallard Lake Darren commented “Another very pleasing session during the week following the WCC fish in which meant big shoes to fill and a lake that had no doubt been worked hard and pressured but working the swim steadily with loose feed of halibut pellet my efforts were paid off with five fish netted consisting of a 69lb cat on my first night which gave me a new PB by 3lbs and bags of confidence for the session ahea...d especially having had to carefully play this fish from out the channel beside swim 16 that it had taken me down during the fight, a 34lb,44lb,48lb and on my third morning I was awoken by a single tone alarm taring rapidly off across the lake towards the patio swims a long fight was ahead to gain the upper hand on what felt like a very nice fish. Luckily just been around 0600 and day light having just broken I could see enough to allow the fish to run a little. Once ready for netting I was blown away by what I had just seen surface surely I hadn’t got a new PB ? With some serious effort I managed to get this up onto the bank with the very grateful thanks to Phil for his lending of his glide mat. Scales max weight is 85lb so with sling of 6lb I could only assume 79lb and needless to say either way I’m absolutely over the moon and any other catches during the session now was just a pure bonus.Yet again another great session at Wintons breaking my PB twice in what is just a relaxed environment and with this only been my third session I am very excited to see what the future holds and am already thinking about the spring but for now it’s carp over the winter for me hope my luck keeps up. Many thanks again to the Wintons team 👍”

User

Sean Lockyer took this stunning Koi from Kingfisher Lake at around 24lb. Sean fished a snowman style with an 18mm Mainline Cell boilie with an 8mm white toffee popup. Sean commented “It's a new one for me. my first koi. Not The Upfront who I saw most afternoons cruising around my swim I’m booking my next trip for that one!”

User

In 2004-5 I caught my PB from Mallard on peg 21. In 2006 I fished peg 11 and caught 11 Carp, 10 of which were between 20 and 25lb and the 11th fish came in a 16lb for a combined weight of 238lb over 3 days. I was back in 2017 and whilst I didin't break any records in terms of what I have had before, I had a wonderful time there, on Mallard, on peg 2.

I caught my biggest Koi at 17lb, so that has gone into the memory bank along with the above. I was there to enjoy the surroundings and soak up the memories from all those years ago and not to think about anything else than being where I was. Catching fish was a bonus and meeting new people was a blessing. I had my head surgery 4 days later and I am now going through my recovery period.

I will return in 2018 when I hope I will beat a few of my own achievements at this great fishery. I hope I will meet up with some of the people I met and meet a few more of the Wintons staff I didn't meet this time round.

Go to fish, Go to enjoy, Go home happy ....... Thank you Wintons

Absolutely love the place the staff are great and it's a very well run fishery well worth the membership (and the 1h20min drive lol) all of the members I have met so far have been great and willing to chat and help (unlike other places) the fish I have landed and see so far have all be in superb condition and well looked after with fish care high on the agenda (even down to rig checks which I agree with) next time I'm down I will have to try the bankside meals. Looking forward to my next visit already tight line everyone.
