Our Basement displays will be closed next season (from 5th April - 1st September) as we commence essential maintenance works. We will have new, temporary porcelain displays in the State Rooms, showcasing a selection of our treasures.

Did you answer yesterday’s Snowdrop Day question correctly? The answer to ‘What is the name for the people that collect snowdrops?’ is... Galanthophiles. Common snowdrops like these are Galanthus nivalis - they produce an impressive carpet if planted and left for a few years to naturalise.

User

It’s Snowdrop Day! Do you know the name for the people who collect them? Answer same time, same place tomorrow. They are often found in churchyards and we’re once called Candlemass Bells as they were picked to decorate the church on 2nd February, Candlemass Day.

Like flowers and flower arranging? Here are a few more creations from tallented florist Jonathan Moseley - love the eggs! The orangey roses look lovely with the narcissus too - great combination, so fresh! Learn Jonathan's top tips, exciting new ideas and what's on trend at his Spring and Easter Flowers Study Day on 17th April - we've just a few places left - we'll have such fun! #flowertalk https://www.woburnabbey.co.uk/…/spring- and-easter-flower-c…/

Andrew our Head Gardener found this unusual object when clearing an outbuilding. It’s got us baffled! Does anyone know the name for it and better still what it was used for?

User

Another of Sean's photos this time of The Maze. We don't say this often - come and 'get lost' - when we reopen on 6th April!

Not a footstep to be seen - yet! Thanks for the photo Gina.

Happy February everyone! Remember to feed the birds and put water out for them too, as their usual sources will be frozen.

We had a lovely day wandering around the lovely gardens and beautiful rooms in the house. The staff were great and knowledgeable about all things in the house.

We finished our afternoon with a delicious cream tea.

We enjoyed the drive through the park watching the deer.

So all in all a very precious day spent with my daughter, who gave me the day for my birthday.

Thank you Woburn.

This is on our doorstep so we regularly visit and can recommend the food in the Duchess tea rooms. The kiosk staff are lovely and also provide a warm greeting to start off your visit. Loved previously visiting the house. Gardens are beautiful always with interesting sculptures. Highly recommended.

Me and the family had a lovely time at the Garden show yesterday. There was so much to look at, the quality of the displays were amazing and The gardens were magnificent as always. My little niece loves the flower lady and man walking around and we enjoyed looking at all the cow statues. Lots of stalls to look at too.

I thought the lunch menu looked very good value for money but sad to say we had our lunch organised.

I was very impressed to see the Duke walking around the show and will definitely go again next year, weather permitting. Thank you Woburn Abbey for a first class event.

Lovely day spent here on 06/09

We booked for a lovely afternoon tea .. which was lovely in the Bedford Room

Fresh finger sandwiches and lovely little cakes and a good size pot of tea

Staff around the abbey , gardens and tea room very friendly and welcoming

Lovely day out .. and would return to see more of the deer park (didn't risk it due to weather)

I brought my sister and sister in law from South Africa here and we all had a fantastic day out with a delicious afternoon tea, the gardens were out in full bloom, absolutely stunning house, with such lovely friendly and knowledgeable staff, breathtaking views and the deer park blew us away! Clearly a lot of effort goes into maintaining it all and we will definitely be back! Thank you to everyone for making our day so special! Xxx

As a birthday present I'd been given a voucher for a tour of the Abbey and Gardens with Afternoon tea. We'd visited the safari park many times when our children were growing up but I don't think I'd ever really noticed the Abbey before! Anyway, we arrived at the gatehouse and were welcomed by such a lovely lady who directed us up the driveway through the deer park. What a beautiful way to start our visit. There were huge groups of deer roaming around. As the weather was overcast we started with our tour of the Abbey first. Not particularly attractive from the outside but what an impressive interior. Room after room filled with beautiful paintings, furniture and treasured artefacts. The place is overflowing with history and the views out to the lake and park are just glorious. Thoroughly enjoyed looking around in the vaults as well. We followed this with afternoon tea which was just perfect, after which we walked around the gardens. I was expecting the usual 'walled garden' but was pleasantly surprised by the way that the individual areas were spread out. Gave us the opportunity to walk off those calories! Absolutely loved our visit.

Adam White and I had our wedding ceremony at the venue, we couldn't afford to further decorate and we didn't need to.

Everybody enjoyed their time on the grounds and the staff we brilliant.

We highly recommend this venue for functions of many kinds.

A slice of life from times gone by. A lovely day out with interesting things to see and find out. The gardens are beautiful so tranquil. A tasty lunch in the on site tea rooms.

User

We had a walk in the deer park on a grey and windy day. Despite the weather condition, the walk was really nice. The deer were a bit far from us but we still managed to see a few right close to our camera lens. The park doesn't have a circular walk though which was a bit of an inconvenience as we had to take a path then come back through the same one.

User

Very beautiful place and from my point of view very coach friendly great for large groups as well as individuals

Our Walking for Health group had a very memorable day. We arrived at 11 and left at 3. The gardens have greatly improved since the last time I visited, the colour scheme , magnificent trees, wild life, flowers and shrubs were a credit to your gardeners.

A number of the walkers brought a pick-nic as well as buying drinks and cakes from the cafe, we were all welcome.

I would have liked to have a found linear walk therefore we had to follow the yellow posts back to where we started. Is there a linear walk?

User

Lovely building and gardens! Unfortunately the house itself is not accessible for wheelchairs and or walking frames. This wasn't communicated anywhere on site or on the website until we entered the house. Luckily we only had one in our group and we could help her through the rooms. This should be told clearly beforehand because people pay the entree and have to stay behind..

Boyfriend and I had a lovely day out at the Gardens. We enjoyed seeing all of the structures and gorgeous scenery, and we enjoyed the hedge maze. Such a lovely way to spend a sunny Friday afternoon - local tea using proper tea leaves, sunshine and scenic walks. Unfortunately we missed the Abbey itself as it is closed until next week, and as 2 self employed freelance young people, we found the entry price quite high. We even thought twice once we were informed of the price whether to go ahead at over £15 for the two of us. Glad we decided to go in as we really did have a lovely day.

User

Another great day of floral inspiration with Jonathan Moseley as my friends and I attended the Easter floristry day. Well organised by Jo and a simple but tasty lunch for us all in the Duchess's Tea rooms. Only disappointment was that the demo was in the old laundry and not the Sculpture Gallery as expected. I had my sister in law with me from abroad and I had told her about the stunning setting of the Christmas demo!

User

Always love the gardens and deer park. Beautiful. We had afternoon tea in the tearoom. We were slightly disappointed with the selection of cakes and sandwiches. Far to much cream and pretty basic sandwich filling. No refill either of tea and coffee offered as in other tearooms we have been to. Service was standard.

User

Had a really lovely day at the garden event. Set amongst the most stunning gardens. Floral display were amazing. Well done groundsmen. Shame the cream team and very dried out small scones didn't live up to expectations. Expensive too for what they were. Looked more like biscuits. Very dissapointing.

User

Your offer of an opportunity to shoot a stag for up to £7,000 a pop seems to directly contradict your professed care for such a beautiful animal.

User

Walked through the park on footpaths today. Very disappointed that we couldn't go in for tea and cake without paying an entry fee. Walked down to Woburn village where we had a lovely tea and home made cakes. Woburns loss.

User

Turned away at the gate because we had a dog. We'd travelled over an hour to reach Woburn and were really looking forward to our visit. We'd done our research beforehand and believed we would have to do our usual method of stately home visiting, ie take it in turns to dog sit outside the cafe whilst the other goes around the house. We didn't expect to be ejected before we'd even reached the main gate. Thankfully the National Trust, as usual, saved the day with a warm welcome for all of us at Stowe Gardens where we spent the rest of the day - and our money.

If you are a dog owner, be aware that you are far from welcome at Woburn. We won't be returning until this policy changes.
