Swimming pool at Bradley stoke been living in Bristol independently for just over a year now I have had cp which affects both my legs I have had it since birth and love to swim independently With dad the company every week swimming is the best and pretty much only all the exercise I can do unsupported this is the best one I can access for my needs. Hi everyone, it's been great at kingswood leisure centre over the summer hols with their promotional offer of their mega parties Tues, Thurs, Sat and Sunday. You can come on in and pay for the hour then the kids get to play on all the equipment theirs even a supervisor so you can sit back and relax or join in with the fun. I hope the centre is going to carry on the fun when the summer hols are over. Anyone else been to these mega parties?????

My children thought they were great and good value for money.

Good range of machines and modern, good to have ur workouts recorded on the cloud, not been at busy period yet, as newly joined, but so far so good

User

Active Gym in Bradley Stoke has been fantastic my National and GBR Judoka and myself. Bradley Stoke Judo Club continuously compete against the best in the World . All of our top players train in this great gym with all of the up to date equipment. Thanks Active for all of your help.

User

I really like Yate leisure centre, especially the gym. The showers keep going hot & cold and the swipe system very rarely works, but all the gym staff are top class and very helpful. Wouldn't dream of ever going to a different gym.

User

Great equipment, air conditioned, nice atmosphere however.........I would give a 5 star apart from joining fees! I've already paid £65 joining fee and when I booked my gym induction I've had to pay another £36 for it? Accesable for all? Only if you can afford the extortionate membership fee!! Feel like I've been mugged!!

User

We mainly use Bradley Stoke for swimming lessons & family swimming, have to say very disappointed that they are not improving anything at the pool end, showers are awful not enough of them plus changing areas could be better. The swimming pool seems to be getting busier these days but apart from swimming lessons there is very little else on offer for advanced kids swimmers. No swim club, closest is Thornbury which I think is too far, maybe water polo? Synchronised swimming? Diving would of been a plus if they had improved the pool as the only pool in Bristol with diving boards is Kingswood which is very old. So very disappointed that after spending £3.6m that water sports has stayed the same for an ever growing area. Also the new climbing wall is only any good for kids, my husbands complaint, so unless you like the gym disappointing.

User

The bradley stoke facilities are great it's just unfortunate it's poorly managed. They will only let 40 people in the baby pool and you have to the wait at least 30 mins. This has happened 3 times now. I counted in each case and there were 26, 31 and 27 people in the pool and not 40. When you have a small baby that extra wait is really difficult to manage with the feeding routine. We now have to go somewhere else as the staff don't communicate with each other and can't count.

User

Totally unimpressed with my sons swimming lessons I have tried to complain to the manager at Kingswood on three different occasions now with no reply from her, disgusting customer service multiple teacher changes and my son has now gone backwards I will take our business somewhere else for him and his brother now!

User

Took my 13 month old to the big bath time, which is advertised as "preschoolers and their parents *only*", but arrived to be told it was full and we'd have to go in the main pool. When people left, the lifeguard came and got us so we could join in. The big bath time was about 50% school aged children, who understandably wanted to splash about and enjoy themselves. This isn't fun for my infant, who would much prefer not to be kicked, splashed, and jumped on by children much bigger than her. Being frightened whilst swimming is not good for water confidence.

I messaged Active Centres, and they told me that there are no preschool sessions during school holidays and if I want a preschool session, I need to book a term of baby swimming lessons. So instead of being able to take my child to the preschool sessions, which were only a couple of hours a day, they've changed their website description to make it that there are no preschool sessions. ALL the other sessions are for all aged children, you couldn't let an hour a day be for the little ones?

On top of that, the changing rooms were filthy, with dirty nappies on the benches in the families changing. I'm going to find somewhere else to go.

User

Rude and unhelpful staff. You're better off joining a private gym.

User

Phoned Longwell Green active in advance and asked specifically about restrictions on access to small pool for two young non-swimmers.

Arrived only to be told that the pool was now full for the next 90 mins after 60 minute journey.

Massively disappointed to be leaving with 2 crying children.

Thanks.

User

Not impressed! Went in with the intention of joining this morning due to the expansion! I called to check if I needed to make an appointment to join....I was told no someone will be there after 9am to sign me up... I arrive at 940am to be told I needed an appointment! Then to be told I can just sign up online - I wanted to look at the timetable, have a look around before committing etc.. no timetables printed! I have an NUS card but i have to back that up with a letter from my employee to say I’m a full time student... they aren’t involved and clearly if I have a full time job I’m not a full time student... website doesn’t say it has to be full time education to get the student discount!!! Need to up their game if they want people to join! Very disappointed

User

Not impressed with Bradley Stoke!

Started my son with swimming lessons on wednesday (complete beginner), due to being adopted he's never swam though he's 5yrs old already. Told the woman on arrival into pool that it's his first ever lesson.

What a waste of money!

i know its his first lesson, but wasn't taught a single thing as we watched, he doesn't have the confidence to take his feet off the bottom of pool. But not once did she encourage or guide him to do so! was 25mins of watching him walk back and forward?!

So I thought I will take him myself today to help encourage him. Was told it was lane swimming until 9am in main pool and half the main pool and kids pool was classes until 12. Ok that's fine i thought.

Never been to the main pool here and only visited once before in small pool, as we got in shallow end (So COLD)! my son picked up a red float and one of the staff literally screamed at him "Thats needed for lessons!" put it back.. jesus woman how was he to know. (or I for that matter).

Make things worse there was a staff member doing one on one lessons in so called "public" swimming side of the pool after 9.. why?! So we were pretty much restricted to 1/6th if that of the pool in the shallow end along with other swimmers doing lengths, reception failed to mention 2 lanes in centre of pool were fast lane swimming also. gave up after 20mins.

Will not rush back to use this centre with a cold pool, disorganised & Rude staff!

User

New soft play rules! You have to pay for all children even New born babies?

Manager was nice enough but explanation was poor. Apparently you have to pay for all children now (regardless of if they are going to leave their pushchair or not) because they take up the same space as a playing child. If a couple (two adults) came in with one child and paid for that one child surely they would take up the same space as me and my one playing child and my one child in her pushchair who can barely hold her own head up let alone use the soft play? Not fair!

User

Had my sons birthday party there and it was very disorganised. They had the hall set up for the wrong type of party so we had to wait while they reset up the hall, the "host" was useless and allowed children to leave the hall unsupervised, the children had to wait for 15 minutes for food to arrive once they got to the party room and they don't tell you need to provide music or even a knife to cut the birthday cake! I would NOT recommend it and will definitely not be booking a party there again.

User

Filthy floor at Kingswood swimming pool, dirt and debris floating around in the drain channels first thing i the morning, disgusting!
