CAPTURING THE FEEL GOOD FACTOR

... Holistic health provides a complete circle that joins the dots together to create a “dot to dot of you”.
It provides the connection between your mind, body and spirit.
Within my treatment room I offer treatments that create connections and allow healing, peace and tranquillity back into a persons life.
I do this through combining my holistic treatments, which include relaxation facials, massage, reflexology and Reiki treatments. I offer these treatments as part of a package or as a single treatment.
Massage is detoxifying, relaxing and soothing.
Reflexology involves giving a therapeutic treatment to all areas of the feet using pressure points. In both feet there are reflex areas which relate to different parts of the body; reflexology will help with the general flow of energy through the body.
Emotional or traumatic experiences can cause blockages and I use Reiki to connect with the persons energy flow to help move and clear the blockages. Reiki is a clearing of the energy points in the body known as Chakras. During a treatment, reiki energy flows through my hands into the client energy centres. My client remains fully clothed and is lying on a couch. I place my hands on or near my clients body in a series of hand positions (around the shoulders and head, the chest, stomach, legs and feet).
People differ in their reactions to a reiki treatment, but a feeling of deep relaxation is felt by everyone. Some people drift off to sleep and may see beautiful colours. A number of people say they feel a glowing radiance surrounding or flowing through them. Reiki has a positive effect on negative conditions and all forms of illness as reiki energy encourages the person to let go of anxiety, fear, tension and other negative feelings. These negative feelings are replaced with feelings of peace, which allows the person to re-balance and enter a state of wellbeing.
These treatments are not a substitute for medical advice or treatment. Clients should always consult a medical doctor for any health concerns they may have. I can complement their treatment by helping to restore energy, balance and wellbeing.

I’VE GOT THAT TINGLING FEELING: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

I was reading over an old Daily Mail newspaper dated, March 1st 2016, and found an interesting article by Roger Dobson on why we can experience a tingling feeling in the mouth and lips. According to Roger Dobson hay fever can begin as early as March or April. Apparently, this condition can affe...ct a percentage of people who suffer from hay fever when they eat certain types of foods. It can be a symptom of oral allergy syndrome; “most commonly it affects people allergic to birch pollen – a sign of which your hay fever starts early in the season”. It can occur when they eat foods such as apples, hazelnuts, almonds, cherries, peaches, plums and nectar-lines, which contain proteins similar in structure to birch pollen” page 48 explains Tony Frew, a respiratory physician and allergy expert from Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals. According to Dr. Frew, it is not a serious problem but up to 75% of birch pollen sufferers may experience this syndrome. Something to think about next time we have that Tingling Feeling!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S AND HAPPY FEET

... Taking care of your feet is taking care of your body. We need to be kind to our feet as they allow us to walk and the ability to walk gives us the freedom to move which allows us to enjoy life. A regular pedicure is one of the most blissful treatments that I have experienced, especially after a long week on my feet.
A pedicure can be described as a manicure for the feet. Having a pedicure can improve your posture as it is so much easier to walk on cared-for comfortable feet. Nobody wants unhappy feet! Let me explain to you what happens and what you can expect when you visit Andover Beauty for your pedicure. To begin with, you sit down and relax in a comfortable armchair while I begin to remove the hard skin from the soles of your feet and around the toe area. I apply cream to the cuticles and pop the feet into a foot spa of warm water and bubbles. I leave the feet to soak for ten minutes and you can relax while I make you a drink of your choice. On returning, I remove one foot from the water and begin to clip the toenails and work on the cuticles. Then I will apply some pedicure foot scrub to brighten and polish the foot. I will put it back in the warm water and repeat the same process on the other foot. With both feet out of the water and dried off I will apply some foot cream using reflexology techniques to both feet and finish the treatment off with a colour of your choice on the toenails.
