Reviews
We have had a plea from a parent in Millbrook who is looking for childcare (after school) for an 11 year old who is on the autism spectrum. Does anyone know of anyone? Thanks
The go karting event at Thruxton smashed its fundraising target this year with a bonus £2,000 in matched funding from SSE. Despite some changeable weather conditions making the racing more challenging, we had a fantastic day. Our grateful thanks goes to all the boys at SSE and everyone else who attended on the day. If you are interested in taking a team for next year, please contact: clare.wheeler@autismhampshire.org.uk
Members of our Serendipity Social groups have recently helped with this research project. We all know that more services are needed, but it is very important to support research that provides evidence of this need.

The National Autistic Society are promoting their October Autism Friendly shopping hour week.
I think a few people will be able to relate to this blog:
“Something was bothering Cameron, my five-year-old autistic son. No child really likes shopping but he got on with it. But, waiting in line to pay he began covering his ears and getting distressed. I knelt down to try and get him to focus on me but he pulled away, ran off and pulled a dozen cereal boxes off a shelf! A tut of ...disapproval rang in my ears as I tried to regain some control."

The South Hampshire NAS Partners group have a meeting this evening.
These evening support group meetings are specifically for partners of people with autism (whether the partner is diagnosed or not).
The meetings are for the partner of the person with autism only (not the person with autism themselves).
... The meetings take place at Chandlers Ford Methodist Church, Winchester Road, SO53 2GJ from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, usually on the 4th Thursday of the month (but please check our Diary dates page for exact dates as they may vary slightly).

"Fantastic delivery and lively presentation - lots to think about and implement within our business"
"David Burns presentation was profound, informative and encouraging"
This is what attendees at our 4th employer event earlier this month told us. As part of our commitment to challenge the autism employment gap, Autism Hampshire welcomed 30 business owners and recruitment professionals and asked them to consider what changes they can make to ensure full inclusion in their rec...ruitment processes.
Our inspirational guest speaker David Burns is an employee, company director and published author who describes himself as autistically brained.
Autism Hampshire hosted the event in partnership with Solent University and Southampton City Council.
We will host further events over the next year - so please do let us know if you would be interested to attend or could help us to support the events in some way.

Autism Hampshire are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed a rigorous assessment process and have been awarded full CPD accreditation for Autism Hampshire’s Autism Practitioner Pathway courses and workshops.
The accreditation means that Autism Hampshire is officially recognised as an Accredited Provider with the CPD Standards Office. Autism Hampshire staff can be issued with a CPD Certificate of Attendance for inclusion in their CPD records.
Congratulations to the Training & Practice Development team on gaining the CPD Accreditation especially to Angela Thompson who was responsible for putting our portfolio of evidence together.
