Another week, another set of super-incredible stars! There were individual stars for some classes, and 3N, 3C and 3OP opted for whole class Star of the Week awards for the year group's awesome resilience! Congratulations to all - you are all SHINY STARS! #BCPAProud
Despite the odd shower, day 1 of the GLA athletics event was fantastic! We hope Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all limbered up ready for tomorrow!
Moneysense!
We are working towards becoming a MoneySense Accredited School. Over the past two weeks, volunteers from NatWest have helped in EVERY CLASS to run workshops on financial literacy! Sessions ranged from how we use money with EYFS, Y1 and Y2, budgeting and 'needs vs wants' with Y3 and Y4, and identity fraud and the importance of security in the digital age, with Y5 and Y6. All classes had a great time and were very excited about receiving a certificate and key ring! A HUGE thanks to the volunteers from NatWest. The moneysense website mymoneysense.com has a Parents section where you can download activities to do at home, as well as a Virtual Bank for children to explore! #MyMoneysense
What a lot of absolute superstars! Today was our Summer 1 Merit Awards - an incredible range of shiny stars from Reception, all the way to Year 6! And a few 'Friends of BCPA' poster winners in there too, for good measure. What a way to end a term - we are so proud of them! #BCPAProud
The children in Year 3 have been learning about pollination! They went on a hunt around the school grounds to explore how different flowers use their appearance, shape and scent to aid pollination. Have a look on the Year 3 blog for more of their wonderful work with plants! http://year3bcpa.edublogs.org/
Mrs Lakin loved her gift - a fitting tribute for 26 years in our school family! Thank you Friends of Bishops Cleeve Primary Academy - we love the ‘Lakin Library’ for our reception garden!
Recently, Year 5 visited Mary Arden's Farm! They dressed in typical Tudor outfits for the day before taking part in different activities. They saw butter being made and actually took part in a live birds of prey display! They all had lots of fun! Check out the Year 5 blog for lots more amazing photos! http://year5bcpa.edublogs.org/
The Year 2 children have been working with Mrs Powell to learn how to play the recorder! They have learnt how to hold the recorder correctly, played along with some simple songs and practised cleaning the recorder at the end of every session! Check out the Year 2 blog for more amazing pictures! http://year2bcpa.edublogs.org/
Year 4 are busy travelling around the world this afternoon - all through the power of code! They're programming the Spheros to travel between the countries marked out on the floor.
Reception always have a great time in PE lessons; whether this is in the hall or outside. The children get a mixture of PE lessons, some being gymnastics on the mats or with apparatus, some teamwork games, and they have also begun practising for sports day on the field! Lots more of the pictures can be see on the YR blog: http://eyfsbcpa.edublogs.org/

We recently welcomed Tom, a Senior Education Officer from Parliament, to BCPA! Tom talked to us about the Houses of Commons and Lords; how laws are made; and how we are represented by our local MP. It was a really interesting session and pupils had the chance to ask some thoughtful questions - both during the assembly and back in class.
We’ve gone ‘quackers’ for our duckling friends!!
As part of STEM week, Year 2 participated in a workshop with ‘The Cheltenham Science Group.’
They worked with Dave to design a rocket and went onto the field to see which went the furthest.

What an egg-citing week Reception had! On Tuesday, they had some duck eggs arrive and by Friday there were 6 happy and healthy ducklings!
The children had an amazing time watching the ducklings hatch and grow fluffier and bigger as the week went on. This week, the children will be able to stroke the ducklings, watch them waddle and maybe even swim!
Now we just need names...
