On Sunday the 14th of October, we will be hosting a charity event, helping to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Meredith, one of our members, has set the target of raising £2000 through climbing the height of Kilimanjaro on our roped walls. There will also be live music from the Southampton Ukulele Jam and some mini fundraising games! If you would like to get involved, please message us! https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/me redith-jones1

Quite simply, fantastic! It’s covers a big area with walls laid out in sections that make the most of the floor space. There are walls to cater for most tastes – from vertical to roofs and everything steep in between, including an upwards sloping tunnel. There’s a dedicated small people’s area, with a wicked slide that seems to be a favourite even with not so small folks, and a small section of roped walls. And if that’s not enough there is a humungous training/warm-up/warm-down area, complete with system boards, campus boards and a 10m (ish) monkey-bar run. The current set covers the usual range of grades, with a bias towards the entry-level grades. This makes the Boulder Shack a very attractive proposition for newbies and beginners, as well as seasoned boulder monsters. The most challenging of the problems are opposite the cafe area, so you get some pretty tasty nosh and an inspirational floor-show at no extra cost. Top all that with a relaxed vibe and friendly staff (most of whom – if not all - are passionate climbers) and you’re looking at a place that will keep drawing you back for more.

My 9 year old had a great birthday party. Instructor was great with both the kids and us parents. Got the big thumbs up from both him and his friends!

Boulder Shack covers all your climbing needs: It's a large area with great variety of routes (different degrees of slabs and steep, roof and a top out wall with a slide!), wide range of grades to cater for all abilities, a large training area with three different walls plus a campusing bit. Monkey bars and a variety of hanging set-ups. There is a specific kids area, although the children are more than welcome to climb anywhere else too (and many of them do!). There are also 15 or so roped routes which give another option to those not keen on bouldering.

Then there is a gym for stretching, warms ups, pilates/yoga etc. They run a number of training classes (I've tried pilates and ladies coaching, both are excellent) to help you improve your climbing technique, strength, endurance etc. And last but not least, there is a cafe with delicious cake, soup, smoothies, sandwiches, snacks etc and a great view of the comp wall. Speaking of the comp wall, it's not just for competitions - anyone can have a go!

The staff are super friendly, helpful and enthusiastic too!

Absolutely amazing birthday party for my 7 year old. We were all so well looked after and all the kids had a brilliant time. Hands down the best party my son's had. Thanks so much!
