We stayed one night for our 15th anniversary. Had a great stay, staff were amazing, very attentive. The whole castle and grounds are lovely, our room was great, very well organised, clean and quiet. Would highly recommend staying here.

We had our wedding at Bovey Castle earlier this month and everything about it was exceptional. From the moment we met with our wedding coordinator Emma we knew we were in safe hands. Everything was handled with care and attention. Nothing was too much for the staff here, they go above and beyond your expectations. The venue itself is stunning, the rooms beautifully furnished and every little detail is thought of to make your stay extra special. The food and service was five star. Every one of our guests commented on how good Bovey Castle is. If you are looking for somewhere to get married or even a short break, I couldn’t recommend Bovey Castle enough. Thank you all for such a special day.

This place is absolutely stunning. The food was out of this world I’d give it more stars if I could. Best fillet steak I’ve ever had. We were so well looked after. Golf course superb too, beautiful surroundings and great quality greens. What more could you want? Highly recommend!

My husband and I visited yesterday for champagne afternoon tea to celebrate my 40th birthday. I have intolerance to dairy, wheat and oranges so for me being able to enjoy an afternoon tea is rare . The food you provided for me was just superb. The sandwiches were delicious (as often gluten free bread isn't great) then all the cakes and scones were divine. To be honest I expected a dairy free butter with my scones as that is usually the case, so to have soya cream which looked liked clotted cream which also tasted great was an added bonus. We both thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon.



The only criticism I can find is that after the valet parking and entering the building it took a long time for anyone to come through to greet us and take us through. After that though all the staff were very attentive.

I’ve been to Bovey over 20 times now and I always fall in love with the place as soon as I go through the gates! It’s not just a special location and setting, the staff are wonderful and there is such a sense of home about it all, I recommend a walk up the river to North Bovey for a nice lunch at the Ring of Bells. Best all round hotel in the UK!! Well done everybody at Bovey Castle for continuing the very high standards.

Its our 11th Anniversary today here at Bovey as 11 years a go we got married here and spent 4 days in the Bridle Suit at the top of the main staircase. Its still such a special place and feels so at home so thank you again to all the lovely staff as without them i’m sure it wouldn’t feel the same.

IF I could rate it higher I would. It was superb and the staff, food, facilities and ambience were off the scale. It was perfect for a special celebration .

Fantastic, i have stayed in some nice hotels around the globe, but nothing beats this beautiful hotel with it’s chunky mullioned lead windows huge oak panelled rooms and blazing open fires, gracefully settled with it’s commanding outlook across it’s beautifully manicured parkland! The Bovey Castle ticks every box for me! ( and i had the cheapest smallest room that was bigger than most other hotel rooms that are premium prices)!



What ticked the biggest box is the genuinely friendly staff, not only are they dressed like characters from a really compelling period drama series, they make you feel like you’re starring in it ! Only difference is, these people arn’t acting, they really are genuine , show an honest interest in you and are interesting people themselves who are really full of zest and very bright ! They appear happy and content, so i can only assume that their employers are looking after them well and appreciate them! God i miss them already, i was only there for a couple of nights and they made me feel like one of the family! ( i was alone you see) !



Thankyou so much for all your warmth and good service and i cannot wait to come back!



I treated myself as i felt i deserved it haha, but it was worth every dime!

P.S. Room, facilities, food and service - out of this world! Lots of personal touches and nice suprises, Love the big oak panelled rooms and the blazing open fires sparkling in the reflection of my glass of wine whilst i cozied my self in the Library room! You made me feel special and loved!



Oh and my favourite breakfast item: Crushed ripened Avocado and perfectly poached organic eggs on toasted muffin , the best ! Thanks Chef x

Fantastic hotel!! Worth every penny!! The staff are superb, friendly, professional, attentive. Castle room was lovely, great views of Dartmoor etc...quality all the way from the moment you park the car. Will be going back for sure.

Bovey castle is absolutely stunning. Came for champagne afternoon tea for a friends birthday, food was amazing, views was amazing, and the staff were lovely.

Apart from the glorious setting, the beautifully appointed rooms, the luxurious lounges and sumptuous dining room, it was the magnificently attentive and efficient staff that stood out during our wonderful stay. I doubt that there is a finer venue in the whole of England than Bovey Castle. The organisation and perfect running of my niece's wedding was incredible... I am sure Harry and Meghan did not get the service, care and lavish attention that we received here!! Unbeatable is every way

Amazing food, staff were lovely and friendly. We had a massage and it was amazing! Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone looking to relax for the day! A great birthday present 🎁😃

We have been going to Bovey for years and always been huge advocates. Unfortunately this year after a weeks stay in one of the superb lodges we were disgusted by a £75 bar bill added to our account on a day we were out all day. To be fair the receptionist removed the charge as soon as we disputed it. Previously we had spent in excess of £1000 over a week with food, bar, spa etc. This year when we tried to book we were unable to because of Corporate events weddings. What saddens us is that someone had signed my wife’s name on a bill despite the fact we had not ever visited the bar. Bearing in mind we had not spoken to any guests and therefore not given our names to anyone, I can only assume that this was perpetrated by a member of staff as it had both Christian & Surname blatantly block printed on the ‘receipt’. Suffice to say having visited annually for 5 or 6 years sadly this will have been our last visit.

This was our second visit to Bovey the staff are all amazing and take care of your every need. The food is amazing even if a tad over priced but bring a 5* hotel that’s to be expected. Drinks are very expensive.



My only two grips were the room we were in room 47 was like a sauna so hot we had a member of staff bring us a fan so we could try and sleep even when she bought the fan into our room she commented how uncomfortable it must be. We had the windows open full and the radiator off yet it was like we were on holiday in Spain in 30 degree heat with no aircon.



We had to leave the hotel a lot sooner than we planned as it was far too hot. Also we had a front castle room and the lights as u enter the hotel driveway flickered all night which reflected off the ceiling in our room it was like a strobe light shining.

The place is beautiful! The stuff is very friendly and useful. The main problem of the place is the restaurant especially for dinner. The food unfortunately is far below the place's standards...

The hospitality and service provided by the staff at bovey was amazing! The cleanliness of rooms and treats left for Us were all very nice! Room had a lovely view. Only complaint was this is suppose to be a five star hotel and I expected five star dining. Food was poor and expensive for what it was. Didn't help that I had a hair in my main meal. Bar was also closed at 10.20pm!!! This was the only option for a drink so was not overly happy. Other than that very good. Cheers.

Went to Bovey for a special weekend with my girlfriend as we have been working abroad for 9 months. The hotel was beautiful and the staff were helpful. rooms clean and tidy however our stay was disrupted by poor dining and rude staff members! When asking about afternoon tea the lady said we were too late at 3.40pm in the afternoon. As we turned to walk away another few guests were seated and ate their scones and cakes whilst we were sat there forced to go to the smiths restaurant which was below average both times we visited. The main meal which was suppose to be a special meal was pretty awful a long hair in my main meal and all chefs not wearing hats or any beard nets. Poor dining for a 5 star hotel! One of the waiters dragged a garbage bag behind our table and it stunk as he went by! An awful dining experience and my voice was heard! Bar shut at 10.20!!!! The only bar in the place and had no where to drink after our meal. 5 star hotel 2 star food and beverage for the price!

The only thing that lets our stay down is the service and food in the Great Western restaurant. This year our breakfast was a complete catastrophe. Started with the buffet breakfast being pulled halfway through service so we were sat there with our ordered well done sausages and bacon for about 5 minutes waiting for the eggs , mushroom etc. Ordering more coffee (had to ask again as they didn’t serve any ) Only for them to serve tea in a coffee pot - dirty plates sitting in our table for over 20 mins until we asked for them to be removed. Noticing that the continental side of the breakfast was very sparse and not being replenished. Felt sorry for guests coming down to breakfast after us. The staff were apologetic but it just went from bad to worse. We think mainly due to lack of staff? We thoroughly enjoy the hotel itself but with this being a second year of poor service and not what you would expect from a 5* hotel we are thinking of booking elsewhere next year which is a shame.
