About Bridport Harbour - West Bay
Bridport harbour is situated at the western end of the chesil beach. It was important in the 19th Century for shipbuilding and for exporting rope and nets.

... CHANGE OF HARBOUR AUTHORITY
1. Mariners are advised that, as a consequence of a Local Government Review, on 1st April 2019 the Statutory Harbour Authority for Lyme Regis & Bridport Harbours will transfer from West Dorset District Council Dorset Council, a new unitary authority.
2. All orders, notices and other governance documents issued by West Dorset District Council under the authority of West Dorset District Council will remain in force until superseded or routinely replaced.
3. Cancel this Notice to Mariners on 31st March 2020 when it will be assumed that the new Harbour Authority will have been accepted and fully promulgated.
NB. Owners, Agents, Charterers, Sailing Clubs and Recreational Sailing Organisations including day launching craft and all other harbour users should ensure that the contents of this Notice are made known to the Masters or persons in charge of their vessels or craft.

Early morning start for the Harbour team taking delivery of our new boat lifter. Giving the Harbour users more flexibility and an additional income for the Harbour this great bit of kit has been designed and built by Townsend Engineering closely working with the Harbour team. Thanks to Highlands Ends for assisting in delivery.

Well worth a visit, especially the Harbour cafe, best breakfast ever, served by friendly staff.
The best place to live, friendly lots to do place's to visit, walk along our beach or our coastal paths with superb views across our bay
Love this place! I've been six times and would go again in a heartbeat! Xx
Lots to do all through the summer on the beach or on the water. RNLI Raft Race on the River basin is on Thurs 26th this year - don't miss it.
It is a really great place to go for a day or a holiday.i was born and bred in bridport and miss it loads.:)
Been here so many times it's like my 2nd home, can't wait to go back again
