With studios in Paignton (at the rear of Littlegate Road, Paignton, Devon TQ3 3AZ) and Totnes (Chapel House Studios, Station Road, Totnes, Devon TQ9 5HW), the team of experienced ex-professional dancers strive to give every child from 2 years old and upwards, the guidance, support and confidence they need to realise their dreams in the world of dance.
The accessibility of Paignton and Totnes reduces travel time and multiple studios keep classes small allowing better pupil teacher ratios. Classes are also duplicated but at different times of the week making more classes accessible to more children and accommodating hectic family life.
A child’s confidence grows with their ability and the experience of the teaching staff is key when encouraging a reluctant child who can’t quite bring themselves to join in. The school caters for all abilities and where a child wishes to compete, a structured school year involves a spring term that focuses on festival practice in preparation for local and national competitions. Festivals are a small part of the overall activity of the school which teaches Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and British Ballet Organisation (BBO) curriculums and the end of the summer term sees the progress of the children being assessed by external examiners before the summer break.
A summer school is another annual event where the school hosts external teachers from current West End shows or academic institutions. The summer school provides an opportunity for the children to enrich their knowledge and be taught by professional dancers.
The winter term focuses on preparing the children for what has become the most enjoyable event of the school year – for the parents as well as the children; the annual show performed shortly before Christmas at the Princess Theatre, Torquay. The show treats the children to the thrill of performing in front of a large audience. The performances also show case their work and affords the school the opportunity to celebrate their achievements. It is a hugely popular event featuring a classical ballet (such as ‘Coppelia’ or ‘The Nutcracker’) followed by a tribute to a popular contemporary vocal artist or artists and features music that allows the children to show their modern ballet, tap, contemporary and commercial dance skills.

Congratulations to Carys who held her own to the end of an audition day with Abby Lee Dance Moms! 😁 the dancers were cut throughout the day on different dance genres and flexibility, until there were only a few left standing! End of day Carys was offered a place in LA to train with Abby at her summer school 🎉 Well done Carys, an amazing experience😅

Finally in the Junior Song and Dance Championship, Charlotte brought the house down with her rendition on “Shine” from Billy Elliot, a very popular winner of the Champs 😁 a truly fabulous end to the festival 🎉 and that as they say in the business is a rap! 😁 thank you to my staff who have worked so hard this week, and all our BDS family, parents and friends for all your support Xxx ❤️
In the Senior Song and Dance Championship Ellie was runner up 🎉❤️
Emily won the Senior Modern Championship, and was 3rd in the Senior Ballet despite suffering a fall and sprained ankle onstage yesterday!!! so had to dance her ballet off point.Millie was placed 3rd in the Senior Modern and Tegan gave an incredible performance in an awesome section 🎉❤️🎉
In the Junior Tap Championships Aliyah, Amara and Alissa all tied 4th 🎉😁🎉
Congratulations to Amara Junior Modern Championships winner for the second consecutive year, with Alissa 3rd and Carys 4th and Katie 5th 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Amara was also runner up in the Junior Ballet Championship with Carys placed 3rd 🎉🎉🎉

This stunning duo won Bronze medals, the youngest in an amazing section, well done Amara and Millie 🎉🎉 and well done to Rebecca Silver medal for her lovely choreography this afternoon ❤️ in the novice sections Tansy won a Silver medal for her Modern with 85 marks and Daisy won a Bronze 🎉 Kezia danced beautifully in the Modern and Ballet sections xxx So tomorrow it’s the Championships 😁 break a leg all you beauties xxx can’t wait to see you all dance xxx
Fabulous groups today 😁 Miss Kim’s -10yrs Modern all winning Silver medals 🎉🎉🎉 Our totally gorgeous Burlesque gave a stunning performance, and the fabulous Greatest Showman placed 4th 😘❤️ Xxx
Lovely results today with Millie 1st in her Character section 13yrs, and Isabella gave a very moving performance ❤️ Faith won a Bronze medals for her Song and Dance and George, Sophia, Sophie and Corina all gave fabulous performances Xxx In the Lyrical modern Rebecca also won a Bronze medal, and Phoebe and Aliyah danced beautifully 💕well done dancers, you’ve all worked so hard on your solos and deserve every success Xxx
What an amazing evening with Emily winning the Contemporary section 13-15yrs with 90 marks with her debut peice of choreography.... it was like watching a professional perform. Millie was placed 4th and Holly gave a strong performance in an amazing section. Our fabulous-21yrs Groups 3rd Bronze medals all round and two 4th places in an awesome section ❤️ well done dancers Xxx
Fabulous day for our -12yrs BDS Groups🎉 with both the Blue Ballet Group and Classical Group “Silks” 1st in their sections with 88 marks. Amara won her Lyrical with Carys and Charlotte both 3rd winning Bronze medals 🎉🎉🎉 Alissa danced her new solo beautifully 💕 Amara won a Silver medal in the Tap 12yrs with Alissa 3rd winning the Bronze medal, Gracie and Charlotte also gave great performances ❤️ Very well done dancers, so proud of you all xxx
