How to Order from a Robot at the Bar .. Its True!
One of the most famous features of Royal Caribbean’s Quantum class of cruise ships has to be the Bionic Bar. The world exclusive is not only the first robotic bar at sea… it’s the first robotic bar anywhere in the world. But how exactly does it work? Well, despite being in a bar, these aren’t your usual bar tenders as it’s manned by two robots – B1-0 and N1-C! Whether you’re after a drink before dinner, after a show, (or in th...e middle of the day for that matter…) the Bionic Bar is there for you. If you want to make your own concoction or just have an old classic – the robots can help you, you just need to tell them what you want. Here is our step by step guide of how to order a drink…

– To order, you need to swipe your room card or wristband on a nearby iPad, which is synced with the machines. You can even order a drink from your smartphone if you download the app! -You then enter your date of birth (so the machine can make sure you aren’t an underage passenger that could have picked up someone else’s arm band!) – Choose from the menu of what there is to drink, or come up with your own cocktail creation. If you choose from one that is a typical classic, you can also read reviews of what other passengers thought of this cocktail! – It will come up with a waiting time to let you know how long it will be until your drink is ready… – Your drink will then be made by either of the robots right before your eyes… Trust us – it’s impressive! – A screen at the side will also flash to say your name and what you have ordered, to entice other cruisers to try one. – When your drink is ready, swipe your room card or wristband on the bar and your drink will be released!
Our favourite part of the experience was watching the robots dance in time with the music as they shook up the cocktails!

... Celebrity Cruises has signed a letter of intent to build two new ships for delivery in 2018 and 2020.
“At 984 feet long, 123 feet wide and 190 feet high, Project EDGE will deliver small ship itineraries with large ship amenities”, the line announced.
The line, which is part of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, has announced that the vessels will belong to a new class of ship for the brand, each carrying 2,900 guests.
Construction has begun on Celebrity Edge, the first ship in Celebrity Cruises’ new premium Edge Class of vessels. The new ship is the first of four Edge Class vessels, and will be debuted in autumn 2018. Building on the modern luxury experience of the Celebrity Cruises’ Millennium Class and Solstice Class ships, the Edge Class vessels will provide an indulgent cruise experience on ships that are small enough to visit exclusive destinations around the world, the next generation of modern luxury cruise experiences.
Unparalleled Style and Innovation
STX France is collaborating with Celebrity Cruises to design and build the ships, following their success in creating some of the world’s most stylish and innovative cruise ships. Project Edge will offer STX France the opportunity to build on their reputation for setting standards in modern and iconic cruise ship design.
The ships will also represent a significant step forward in environmentally-friendly ship design, with new technologies designed to improve fuel efficiency being integrated into the vessels. The use of sustainable materials has taken priority in the design of the ships, and will be used extensively throughout as part of an ongoing project.
Celebrity Cruises’ First Edge Class Ship
The first of Celebrity Edge’s sister ships will be named Celebrity Beyond, and is scheduled for delivery in the spring of 2020, with the remaining two ships making up the class expected to be delivered over the two following years. The new class represents an exciting expansion for Celebrity Cruises and their fleet of modern luxury vessels. Celebrity said the vessels also represent a significant leap forward in environmentally-friendly ship design, benefiting from new technologies to drive significant fuel efficiency and an on-going process to ensure the extensive use of sustainable materials.
The company expects delivery of the first ship in autumn 2018, with the second vessel due to be delivered in the early part of 2020. The order is contingent upon the completion of customary conditions, including financing.

BRAND SPANKING AND GORGEOUS NCL PEARL Norwegian Pearl resumed service on Monday after a two-week dry dock which added many improvements. Upgrading a large cruise ship doesn’t look easy after looking at the photos further down below. They were taken during the Norwegian Pearls two-week dry dock operation in Freeport, Bahamas. During the process, the entire vessel was enhanced inside and out. Around the clock, workers rushed to get the ship ready with all the very best features... and enhancements.
It’s not just the interior spaces which get upgraded, many of the photos were taken at the bottom of the ship where technical upgrades took place. The hull got a fresh coat of paint and propellers received some much-needed attention. Norwegian Pearl is now back in service out of PortMiami on Caribbean cruises. Guests have been able to enjoy a new fresh ship with a newly enhanced Haven Courtyard, Cagney’s Steakhouse, Moderno Churrascaria, O’Sheehan’s Bar & Grill, Sky High Bar, The Great Outdoors bar and main pool area. 1,197 staterooms got the biggest upgrades with a total overhaul including a completely refreshed look, new furniture, new carpeting, new headboards, new televisions as well as the addition of USB outlets where guests can charge their handheld devices. The Haven’s suites and villas also received extensive modernizations with new wall paper, new furniture, new finishes on the ceilings and balconies, new carpets, new drapery and artwork.
