Second visit changed my mind, wouldn't serve us food at 8.20 when they serve until 9... three of us rushed here for food after a hard days work... (hungry trucker parked nearby)

Love it here - food and service never fails to disappoint.

Brilliant meal staff were run off of their feet and still had a smile well done you did well i hope you all got a pay rise � for all you hard work on sunday 23 of us and we were all extremely happy. Thank you

..... It's new years day . Spoons couldn't cater for us ( 15 in the family party )we phoned the Chesnut and they said yep no problem. The food was lush & the service was great ... Thank you so much to the landlord and staff . Alan Grist Happy New year. ..

Met up with a group of friends not seen in a while for a meal. Food was served quickly and bar staff were great.



Have to say, the food was good value, had the huge burger, but the guy that served behind the bar and the young girl that served our food were both so quick and helpful.

Great friendly pub with great value food. I went there for birthday meal and we often use it for family meet ups great pub

Went with some pap friends for a Christmas, pre-booked meal, so they knew exactly what w wanted, had to take the prawn cocktails back as they were still frozen solid, the meat in the Christmas dinner was a tad under cooked( I thought) carrots were hard, stuffing wasn't nice , Yorkshire hatd( microwaved too long?!) The plate ws enormous, so large portion, just a shame about the poor quality.

Waited over an hour for food .

I know that there was 11 of us but that’s still a long time !

More vegan options please! And a kids pasta dish... my son doesnt like any of the "fast food" on the kids menu.

We have just left table 14 and are highly disappointed we paid near on £30 for what can only be described as a truly disappointing meal.



Firstly my partner had the "giant" Mexican feast whilst the chilli was lovely there was nothing on his plate. When questioned we was told it's portion control! Not a giant portion in fact Tiny! The nachos were also smothered in a bowl of sugar rather than salsa!



I had the surf and turf.



Steak and scampi lovely however the meal was cold. warm at best. After waiting for cutlery by the time i went and asked for some it simply was cold. The onion rings and mushrooms were stone cold!



I also requested tartare sauce the gentleman got caught up with another customers complaint and again I had to go ask for some.



Truly disappointing.

The steak was over cooked and the fish and chips small portions shame as the jacket spuds a few weeks before were perfect.. the deserts are not in big glasses as shown on the menu and the pitcher is a small jug disappointing!!!

Had the chilli, the rice was cold as was the chilli and tiny portions. Not impressed one bit. The food took an age to arrive as well. The staff however were very friendly.

Wouldn’t eat there again after tonight the managers a wanker! Staff can’t understand english order two meals for tenner curry and chicken wings brought out curry but no wings asked were the wings was manger said we didn’t order any � so offered him the difference and he said no! What kind of service is the left and gave him the meal back didn’t eat it complete tool!!!

We had booked this place for a family New Years meal for 2pm. 14 of us were going including 4 children. We were asked to let them know what food we wanted in advance as we were ordering from them festive menu. Due to this we then had to pay a £5 per head deposit. We were all very excited as we had been here before for meals and had great expectations for the meal. We arrived on New Year’s Day at 1.45pm and seated at the table after ordering drinks. The table was set for us and looked lovely with crackers and we all got very excited. A lady then came up to us and said she had bad news they had run out of cauliflower cheese. This was disappointing but we were not too worried as were too excited at being all together for New Years. 5 of us had ordered starters and these were lovely so we waited in anticipation for our mains. An hour and a half later mains came out. All were cold. Stuffing not cooked and hard, vegetarian meal burnt, turkey tasted off or like it had been laying around, pigs in blankets were either burnt or not cooked inside , roast potatoes were not fresh and had obviously been reheated and peas were grey! Add insult to injury one of the meals were not even brought out and they said it was not on the list even though we had the list on us that was the same as theirs. My sister had to wait 20 minutes for hers to come out and again was just as bad. We complained and lady said that she didn’t really know what to say that there was no excuse but they didn’t have enough staff! Now as you can imagine by this point we were all so upset that our family get together was ruined. Lady told us that we couldn’t have the deposit back she would not expect us to pay the balance off. She said we could pick other food off the menu or have our puddings. Well after waiting an hour and a half for disgusting food we did not want to wait any longer and lady said the puddings could be brought straight out so we decided we would just have our puddings. By this time we were starving! Most of us had had nothing to eat. My brother in law had chosen a steak meal and his he said was lovely and ate it all. Puddings then arrived ( at different times of course �) and though the chocolate fudge cake was lovely and the children ate theirs the Christmas pud was hard and the cheesecake had melted into the plate and was hot! Dear lord would this ever end! We got up and left with no apologies from staff who had disappeared from sight and with empty stomachs. Would I suggest other people to come here? NO! So disappointing and ruined our day that we had had planned for so long. I would never come here again. The chestnut tree has gone down hill and doesn’t even care about their costumers anymore let alone their cooking.

Due to the fact that she works in the other green king pub that is located in another location in Andover she was told not to return to the pub again and that we were not welcome there and told also that she should know how the products were done and that her complaint was invalid cause it's the same as the pub she works in! We were very unimpressed!

Thought we would go surf and turf and paid £4 extra and got four bits of scampi what a rip off when we complained we were told that was standard ? And one stwasn't cooked as I asked and the other was more fat and gristle than meat rubbish ... offered free puddings but wasn't ever going to have puddings to start with .,

Having been to the Chestnut Tree on many occasions and been really impressed with their food, I decided to book a table at the restaurant on Sunday 25th March 2018 for 17 of us to celebrate my brothers 18th Birthday! We ordered our food, not once were we told there was a wait or anything, we waited over an hour for our food, only for the majority of it to be returned when it arrived, due to many different reasons which included the following:

- The food was cold!

- We were not informed that some items were not available as part of the meals including peas, they had no peas? They then substituted peas for Brussels sprouts? When asked if we could change this for salad, a load of lettuce was chucked on a plate with a bit of salad dressing poured on the top.

- The roast dinners were awful, the carrots served looking like they’d been in boiling water all day, they were brown and soggy. The beef tastes like dog meat!

- The peas that were served with some of the meal tasted like they’d been cooked in dish water, they tasted vile!

- A well done steak was brought out burnt to the point it couldn’t be cut!

- The cheese toastie looked like it had, had cheese singles melted on top. Do you serve normal cheese?

- Someone asked for the thicker style chips and was given cold French fries

The list goes on!!!

To say I am bitterly disappointed is an understatement, I think there was only 3 of the meals brought out that were actually eaten, the rest were returned and we got our money back, even that process was a joke!! The poor girl behind the till, not once when she asked for support from her fellow colleagues did they come out and help her, they all just stood in the kitchen messing around, I am sure they thought they couldn’t be seen!?

The service was appalling, when we got our meals they were almost thrown down in front of us, the waiters seemed to be very happy in their work.

I could keep on writing, but I know nothing will be done, so this is merely a review to try to warn people how appalling the food and service were.

I will not be returning!

Got to say since the new landlord has taken over the pub has gone down hill the meals are half the size giant plate I will do the jokes

Your dinner was a disgrace(as you could see, nobody could eat it!!) as was the melted cheesecake you served up!!

As for not refunding the deposit! You should be ashamed of yourselves!

I don't know what has happened to you? but that shouldn't of been any excuse for ruining this most special family day!

If you didn't have the staff it would of been better to call and cancel.
