Well done to all of the cadets. Every single one came away with a qualification.
Staff from the centre, ASO(SW) Powerboating from Taunton Unit, Tamworth Unit and the Area EWO helped instruct, and we are extremely grateful for the time they gave.

Just a few photos of today's activities at Weymouth

Weymouth cadets arrived here 22;;00 following a slightly tortuous cross country route following closure of A350 before Shaftsbury. Cadets just having lunch following a morning of activities on the water or up the climbing wall.

Sun 19 - Community Event Chippenham May Mile.
Sheldon school. 10:00-13:00
Any remaining cadets and juniors prepared to give some help. If so please come along. Report to unit staff/UMT member at the event.

Fri 17 Cadets for Weymouth. Please be at the unit no later than 18:45. Minibus departs promptly at 19:00.
For remaining cadets incl Juniors - come prepared for boating/kayaking. Mr Burt's juñior group for kayak. However we will assess whether can get on the water at all tonight as there will be some issues with staff/qualified cadets being away with the above - so it may end up having to be an evening ashore.

Wet weather gear (waterproof jacket and trousers – these must be suitable for all extreme weather conditions) – not your Windproof Jacket! Wetsuit (if Sailing) Trainers or plimsoles for boating... Spare Footwear is a must as boating trainers may get wet 1 x Towel Baseball Cap Wash Kit Spare Underwear Spare Warm Clothing Spare Trousers – jeans not permitted for boating Sun cream Notebook & Pencil Log Book Sleeping Bag Warm night wear Spray Jackets & Trousers will be provided where needed Buoyancy Aids are supplied
Kit to be worn for climbing training
Waterproof jacket with hood T-shirt x 2 – could include long sleeved top Fleece, hoody or jumper – draw cords need to be removed Trouser – walking type to allow easy movement, closer fitting tracksuit Trousers or leggings (climbing walls can be abrasive and damage thinner leggings easily) Socks x 2 pairs – thin ankle or trainer type Trainer type footwear
AT/NICAS logbooks if owned
If anything else is required will advise.
Pack small. Space will be tight so avoid bulky suitcases if possible.
Bring some spending money. Run ashore Sat evening. Also for something to eat on journey home Sun eve.

There is a district paddlesport weekend (Kayak and Rowing), 24-26 May at Chippenham. This is the weekend after our Weymouth trip.

Parents - please remember that the lane to the unit is also used by pedestrians.
Please reduce your speed whilst using the lane and within the unit itself. Speed limit is 5mph.
