A big hand for the designer of this new bridge...

'Light As A Feather', the sculpture we're hosting as part of Gromit Unleashed, is raising money for the Children's Cancer Unit with Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal. Donate £2, £5 or £10 at the contactless terminal on the bridge - or pop some money into the collection box at the desk in our Visitor Centre. Find out more about the services provided at the BRI by watching this video.

It's #SummerInBristol! Visit Upfest - The Urban Paint Festival in Bedminster this weekend, go to we the curious for a Gromit model making workshop (tickets available from their events page) - or visit the bridge and join our FREE tours at 3pm every Saturday and Sunday!

The programme for Bristol Open Doors is now live and bookings are being taken for ticketed events. This year we are running a non-ticketed event which allows you to look inside our maintenance workshops and peek into vault no. 4 of the Leigh Woods abutment (access inside the vaults is by guided tour only; and these will NOT be running on the day).

The third Ride4GWAAC took place on 15 July 2018, with hundreds of bikers showing their support for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity. Around 400 bikers drove over Clifton Suspension Bridge, as part of their route.

We had a great time, with students from Cambridge University, who demonstrated exciting science activities. Many thanks to Whiteladies Road Farmers and Fair Trading market for supporting our event and providing gazebos to keep our demonstrators in the shade!

July news from Clifton Suspension Bridge -

User

We love the sun - but we also love being nice and cool. Happily, it's a balmy 13 degrees in the Leigh Woods Vaults. We're now booking tours for July and August from our website. Ages 7+, includes a ladder climb (and loan of a rather natty hard hat and high vis combo).

Have you seen this chicken? The first Feathers on the trail has escaped and is lurking on the bridge! Sneak up and find him this weekend for an early start on your chick-list.

The views from the bridge are excellent and at the end opposite the Clifton end is an exception with information about the bridge and various things for the kids to do for free. Well worth a visit as well

Made such a fun day out walking across, climbing the hill to see the sights and talking to a volunteer on the bridge who told us a lot of history about it

User

Loved it...fabulous views.

User

It's very high and wide and it enables people to get from one side of the river to the other without getting wet.

Seriously, it is quite spectacular, highly recommended.

User

It was really lovely to enjoy Bristol's greenery and splendor from afar and above! Definitely worth the walk. We parked at the Clifton Downs and walked all the way to the Bridge.

User

I rarely come up close to any bridge but this one leaves me with a strong impression. Those gigantic chains holding the bridge are just like the chains of a bicycle only much much bigger and since I'm an avid cyclist I appreciate it even more. And the view of the bridge from on top of the hill was one a kind. As is the dizzying height when on the bridge itself. Overall an unforgettable experience which, Godwilling, will bring me back.

User

I hate heights but gritted my teeth and walked across and back! Feel proud to have done it. Fantastic views and a very enjoyable walk around Clifton. Loving Buzzing Bristol.

User

First time Goin over the bridge brilliant love it so pretty

User

Fantastic view, great scenery, especially with the tide when the water was gone after 6h... Great tip to come and see!

User

Amazing views, amazing structure quite breathtaking and a beautiful sight from the hill top. We will definitely visit again next time we're Bristol.

User

Amazing sight. Went there every day twice a day over the Bristol Balloon Fiesta days. Luckily saw the balloons Sunday morning. The weather was perfect but balloons didn't quite make it over the bridge but near enough to take some pics. Lovely area and green space. Took a walk over the bridge takes your breath away as views are fabulous. Good to see people and families out and about enjoying themselves there was a brilliant atmosphere. Lots of unusual and quirky shops and side streets to explore. Buses stop close by and parking available. Will be back next year to explore more!

User

A must do years of travelling up and down the motorway we had never stopped in Bristol. This weekend we had the pleasure of going fantastic and the bridge what an amazing construction, we walked across and took photographs as we were celebrating our golden wedding.we will be returning.

User

User

User

Unfortunately work was being done on one side bridge, but still managed to get some good shots between showers!

Man in visitors centre was very helpful and explained other walks etc to take down through the woods & under bridge.

User

A very impressive bridge from on top and underneath (as seen today) lovely ice cream from a van at the top. Well worth a visit
