A really wonderful afternoon for the Mayor’s Civic Service. A brilliant turnout, and a lovely service. I particularly liked the poem read by our Mayor Keeley Allin, the band played us a beautiful version of Amazing Grace, and it was really great to hear from representatives of the Mayor’s chosen charities: 1st Torrington Scouts and Torrington Police Amateur Boxing Club.
On 17th July the External Overview and Scrutiny Committee at TDC has an agenda item looking at issues facing agriculture. Representatives from various organisations will be attending, including the NFU and North Devon Biosphere. Please let me know if you have any questions you would like me to put forward.
There’s a lot going on in Great Torrington tomorrow morning (Sat 6th July), most importantly it’s the GREAT TORRINGTON TOWN TIDY! We’re trying to make the town look its best for the upcoming judging for Torrington in Bloom, let’s go for gold! 🏆
There’s also the Big Breakfast in St Michael’s church 9.30-12.30 just £6.50
And the Liberal Democrats are having a coffee morning (with lots of cakes! 🍰) at 116 New St 10-12. 👍🏼

Loving the new signs going up on the Commons!
Torridge District Council has now declared a climate emergency and has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2030.
We have also signed up to the Devon Climate Declaration to commit TDC to update the carbon management plan for Torridge.

Theo attended the Councillor brainstorming session with me today at Caddsdown, he was very well behaved and we discussed lots of interesting ideas for Torridge. He got lots of cuddles and here he is with Deputy Leader Cllr Ken James!
