So the first of 5 Cumbrian horse trials for 2019 should be well underway in a fortnight, with the AW Jenkinson Forest Products Frenchfield (1). The courses have now been set and will be inspected in the coming days by British Eventing officials and then of course dressed to be as inviting as possible. The going is superb. We very much welcome the return of Santa Rita Wines and Horslyx as sponsors of the BE100 and BE90 classes for the season ahead and, to Maiden Marine, Top... Spec and Equine Products UK for generously supporting the BE80 Training sections. Now into its 11th season, the Robinson Udale Chartered Accountants Cumbria Riders Challenge is again up for grabs along with the Lakes Free Range Co. Junior title. Huge thanks go out to all our event sponsors and we will feature all these generously supporting businesses along with the very loyal trade stand holders in the coming days. If anyone is willing to volunteer for a role at any of the events between now and September then Lucinda will welcome hearing from you.

Another lucky fine day for setting up Frenchfield.

All is looking very well across all the pastures at Frenchfield this weekend with grass showing considerable signs of springing up in time for the event. As the temperatures rise, the cross country course has been aerovated with a grassland slitter and the portable fences are being distributed over the courses in the coming days. The permanent fences have wintered really well and they will be sanded and polished this week. A new widened 16ft bridge has been installed between fences 4 and 5 over the ditch and British Eventing will make their preliminary inspection soon. Meanwhile Keith has been giving Harry the Hedgehog a spruce up and removed his old prickles!
