Good morning.
If you could donate money to The Reading Room without actually parting with a penny, would you do it? Well, you can do exactly that, as we are now partnered with The Giving Machine.
We raise money from our great regular hirers, plus the income from ad-hoc hirers throughout the year. This is topped up by fund-raisers such as The Curdridge Show and the Beer Festival.
... We are always looking at ways to improve our fundraising and we are delighted to now be linked to The Giving Machine.
So how does it work?
All you need to do, is go to www.thegivingmachine.co.uk and follow the link to register as a giver.
Once you have registered you can follow the links to your favourite online retailer and start spending! That's all there is to it. Everything you spend will generate income for The Reading Room.
Companies such as Amazon, John Lewis, Sainsbury's, Asda, ASOS, Boots and many more are linked to The Giving Machine.
At this time of year, online shopping takes over our lives! Please take time to register and make your purchases via the website. It really will help.
Thank you.

Rehearsals are in full swing for the next production from the Curdridge Amateur Drama Group.
'Old Actors Never Die: They simply lose the Plot' tells the story of a coming together between the Master of the Universe and Russian gangsters in a home for retired luvvies. The result is pure British farce.
The production runs from 21st-24th November, with an additional Matinee on Saturday 24th November.

Good morning.
Our joint fundraiser with St Peter's Church is just over a week away and preparations are in full swing.
The Autumn Fayre takes place on Saturday 27th October, between 11am and 2pm, here at The Reading Room.
... We are collecting items such as cakes, jams, chutneys, decorations, cards, jewellery, toys, nearly-new clothes and unwanted gifts for sale. If you have anything you wish to donate for the Fayre, items can be left with Ian at The Reading Room.
The Fayre is part of the celebrations of the 130th anniversary of St Peter's Church and is a chance for you to get some early Christmas shopping under your belt!
We look forward to seeing you next Saturday!

Good morning. It seems like Summer has returned to Curdridge! Long may it continue.
After a really successful Ceilidh last weekend, we are now preparing for the next Church fund-raiser at the Reading Room.
On Saturday 27th October, from 11am-2pm, St Peter's Church and The Reading Room will be holding an Autumn Fayre.
... Many of the stalls will have a Christmas theme, giving you an opportunity to get some early festive shopping done! Refreshments will be available.
We are collecting items for the fayre, including cakes, jams, chutneys, decorations, cards, jewellery, toys, nearly-new clothes and much more. If you have anything that we could use, please let Ian know on 07704 208703.
This is another village event, giving residents the chance to come together and support two village institutions.
We look forward to seeing you.

Good morning.
We are really proud of our close relationship with St Peter's Church in Curdridge, and we are looking forward to hosting some events to help celebrate the 130th anniversary of the church.
In 1888 the Reading Room hosted a Bazaar to help raise funds for the Church and this month, there are two events with the same purpose.
... Later in October there will be a Village Fayre but this Saturday at 7pm, St Peter's invites everyone to a Village Ceilidh at The Reading Room. Music will be provided by 'Fiddler on the Hoof' a great band who will get your feet tapping at the very least!
Tickets are £7.50, which includes a Harvest Apple Pie and cream.
Events like this are so important for the village and it would be fantastic to see as many people as possible at this fun event.
More details are in the attached poster.

Good morning from a lovely, sunny, autumnal day at the Recreation Ground. It's perfect for a walk round the field. Or at least it would be, if it wasn't for the ongoing problem we have with inconsiderate, lazy people who can't be bothered to clear up after their dogs.
We know that the vast majority of dog-walkers who use the Recreation Ground and Skinner Field, do so in a responsible way and pick up after their dogs.
Both fields are owned by the Reading Room Charity, and are... public spaces for use by the whole community. It is really disappointing that the actions of a few people spoil it for the rest.
There are a few repeat offenders and we know who you are. We will not hesitate to report people to the relevant authorities if we see your dogs fouling the field and not picking up afterwards. We have two dog bins that are emptied regularly by Winchester City Council and both are no more than five minutes walk from any part of the field.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE pick up after your dogs. It really isn't that difficult.
Please share this post so that the message gets to as many people as possible.
Thank you.
