Dawlish Museum Description

Home to the famous D-Day bagpipes of Piper Bill Millin Dawlish Museum has 11 rooms over 3 floors bursting with local artifacts and fascinating facts about the towns history. There is a special room dedicated to the horrendous storm of early February 2014 which left the railway line hanging in mid-air and the rail network cut off from the rest of the UK. Using archive photographs and video it tells not only the story of the storm and the unbelievable damage caused to the railway infrastructure but also the herculean efforts made by Network Rail engineers to re-open the line. With quizzes and dressing up costumes too for the little ones there is something to see and do for everyone at Dawlish Museum , whatever their age.
