Didcot Fire Station Description

Didcot Fire Station is a full-time day-crewed fire station with a compliment of an on-call crew.

The full-time staff are comprised of two watches, Red and Blue, who crew one of the fire appliances, call sign JX32P1, with a maximum of 6 personnel. This appliance is one of three Enhanced Rescue Vehicles (ERV's) in the county and provides a greater level of skills, expertise and equipment to deal with road traffic incidents as well as responding to all other kinds of emergency situation.

The on-call crew have other careers outside the fire service and respond when required and crew the other fire appliance, call sign JX32P2, with a maximum of 6 personnel. This appliance is a standard pumping appliance and can be found the majority of stations across the county.

Alongside the front line fire appliances the station also houses a Hazardous Materials Decontamination Unit, call sign JX32H1 which is crewed by a mixture of full and part time staff as required. This will respond to incidents countywide and across into neighbouring counties should the need arise and provide decontamination for Fire-fighters involved in a hazardous materials incident.

Didcot is also the base for the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service Training Centre and various courses /skills sessions are conducted at the centre throughout the year. They also have a training fire appliance that is kept alongside the operational vehicles here.
