With the weather set to warm up for the weekend we are asking the public to be vigilant and by following these few simple steps we can all help to reduce the chance of a wildfire in the countryside.โ€
๐Ÿšญ Extinguish cigarettes properly, donโ€™t throw cigarette ends on the ground or out of car windows โ€“ take your litter home. ๐Ÿ†— Avoid open fires in the countryside. Always have them in safe designated areas. โ˜Ž๏ธIf you see a fire in the countryside, report it immediately to the Fire & ...Rescue Service. Early detection can prevent it from developing into a large wildfire incident. ๐Ÿ†˜When calling the Fire and Rescue Service: ๐Ÿ”ธ Get to a safe place, ๐Ÿ”ธnote the fires locations, ๐Ÿ”ธ call 999, ๐Ÿ”ธ meet the Fire and Rescue Service at the entrance. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’Donโ€™t attempt to tackle fires that canโ€™t be put out with a bucket of water โ€“ leave the area as quickly as possible.

Sprinklers reduce death and injury from fire and reduce risk to firefighter. They are also good for the planet too โ€“ they use less water to fight a fire than a firefighterโ€™s hose resulting in lower greenhouses gas emissions. Here is some footage of our sprinkler demonstration unit in use #ThinkSprinkler #SaveOurPlanet #DoYourBit

Westbournes new 42m Aerial Ladder Platform was mobilised to a property fire last night along with 6 pumping appliances to extinguish a fire within a roof space in Southbourne, Bournemouth. The 42m ALP has just recently come in to service and has replaced its smaller 32m predecessor to deal with the huge increase in high rise premises located in the Bournemouth town centre. #ALP #Poole #Bournemouth #Dorset #Wiltshire

A fire in a school can cause a lot of disruption. Imagine if your child's school closed due to fire damage - sprinklers reduce the damage caused by fire & lessen the impact of an incident on the wider community. In 2007 about 70% of new schools were built with sprinklers installed. This fell to about 30% by end of 2016, National Fire Chiefs Council - NFCC wants to see all new build schools fitted with sprinklers. #ThinkSprinkler #Dorset #Wiltshire

The deadline for applying to join Fire Cadets (Dorset) has been extended to Thursday 6th June 2019. Please email marianne.gerety@dwfire.org.uk to request an application form. We are extending the deadline because we would like to receive more applications from young people in the Dorset community before finally selecting those who will become part of the Fire Cadet programme. Subsequent interviews will be held at Hamworthy fire station on Monday 10th June

Only the sprinkler head(s) directly affected by the intense heat from a fire is triggered. Sprinklers do not cause flooding in buildings as depicted in some movies!

Installing a sprinkler system is like having a firefighter in every room of your home! #ThinkSprinkler #ProtectYourProperty #ProtectYourFamily
