User

Was lucky enough to see Don Carlos. Wow! What a mesmerising, powerful and thought provoking performance. The lighting, costume and unusual choreography built up the oppressive atmosphere that was present in the kingdom at that time.

Northcott Theatre is a great well equipped space. Lovely bar, nice staff too.

Negatives: Too hot during performance, not enough leg room but good accoustics and seat positions allow everyone to see stage clearly.

User

Visited to see Iolanthe today. This is the fourth time I have seen this Company's G and S and they didn't disappoint. It was a truly captivating theatrical experience from an energetic and super talented group, MD and director.

We left on a high and are already looking forward to their next production.

Thank you

User

This was our second visit to take advantage of the curry and drink for £10 deal.

The first was to see Miles Jupp, and last night it was Count Arthur

Once again the curry was good.

We have been to the Northcott many times and find it a delightful theatre.

With excellent free ( after 6pm ) parking

The Auditorium has excellent seating which gives a clear unobstructed view of the stage

User

Spectacular production of Peter Pan yesterday. All of the technical glitches have been sorted out. Stunning set, which moves about with hydraulics. Amazing video projections unlike anything I have seen before and flying which had the kids in awe. Well done for putting on such an ambitious show as this.It kept my children (age 8 and 6) entertained throughout. None of us could really make head nor tail of the plot though, but that didn't matter at all. This production should go out on tour although maybe with a story where it is easier to join the dots. I've seen other shows like 'Mary Poppins' and 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' in the West End and the production values are on a par with those. It looks like this cost millions to produce.

User

Seen two shows at the theatre and were both great..the restaurant serves delicious food as well...I had one of the best gnocchi in my life which means a lot given that I come from Italy

User

My first visit to the Northcott for years to see ballet black, lovely theatre, well organised, i liked the seating as im very short and could see everything! Had a bit of trouble parking. The show was out of this world, beautiful, fun, exciting!! would definitely like to see these artists again!!

User

Lovely venue , restaurant is great!! Good atmosphere

User

Just got back from watching Oliver! This afternoon with my little girl. The show was amazing, all the cast were fantastic. My little girl couldn't of had a better 1st experience of the theatre, even got to meet the cast afterwards! Only downside is she was crying when we had to go home as she wanted to stay with Fagan and artful dodger! #oliverexeter

User

I came to the Northcott yesterday to watch there performance of Peter Pan, and I would just like to say how amazing it was! Brilliant for all ages! Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I know there was a few technical problems at the start which caused the show to be cancelled but i can completely understand if it was for the safety of the ones that fly!

I would highly recommend this show to anyone!!

User

The shows are brilliant. Saw singing in the rain last night and it was fantastic. The only thing that puts me off going more often is that there is no air conditioning and it gets so hot you start to feel ill

User

My first visit, as was on holiday down Devon Cliffs!

But i visit theatres all over the country, now over the 100 mark, inc 26 in London.

Nice Auditorium, Clean and welcoming, nice Americano,

Only downside was the show, i would do what other theatres do and if a main role is being played by an understudy, then it has to be advertised on the doors or a slip is put in programme!

Saying in Tonights performance the role of such and such will be played by whoever..

Quite annoyed as like many we were all saying where is...

Usually understudy for a main role is played at matinee's.

Also the poster the producers use is wierd as the one character is only on stage for 5 mins of the whole show...

Although i must praise the acting on stage for this performance..

So the producers should have known that...

But friendly staff and i wish the Northcott much success in the future x

User

Great venue, excellent show of All or Nothing Mod Musical.....but.... in the second half there was a sound coming from the right hand side of the auditorium that made it difficult to concentrate fully on the show. It sounded like air and was a persistent pulsating blowing sound. Actually made me feel quite anxious in light of terror attacks happening at the moment. Thank goodness it stopped for the end scenes.

User

Went to see twits the other day

The show was fantastic and all the shows I've seen there are really good so not marking low on that I'm marking low as after the show I came out of the building struggling to walk because of my condition I seized up I was with a group with 3 helpers who were great and ran to get the car as they got the car to drive around the venue had shut the gates the guy was still there but refused to open them even though the helper I was with said he need to get someone who is in pain and can't walk far my other helper went into the theatre to see if they had a wheelchair they had one bit had flat tires and they didn't even bother coming to help to get to the car it was over an hour but if the staff helped I wouldn't of been sat in the cold and would of been in the warm sooner I'm writing this as I want them to be aware that the venue is accessible and staff know what to do in a situation like this and help as much as they can so everyone is included this situation could of been handled a bit better by your staff

User

I love this theatre, but Peter Pan was a bit of a disappointment, The set was great but the story left a lot to be desired and was a very dark interpretation for a family audience. some of the actors could not be heard over the backing tracks of effects and or music. The pirates came out in the interval but could not be heard past the 3rd row. Production was not up to the usual high standards set by the Northcott.

User

After todays very disappointing show watching the Peter pan show, I feel it necessary to leave a review sadly, a negative one. Delayed start by about 1hr, to be told the stage isn't quite ready and we're watching a dress rehearsal despite paying full ticket prices purchased in March; surely plenty of time to get sets/scenes etc ready, the show being stopped a few times during the show, seeing behind the scene, hearing people talking backstage as mics still on.... the list goes on! To be compensated with an ice cream in the long interval is a bad job Northcott. Well done to the cast for doing their very best with a stage that wasn't ready. Shame all the cast didn't feel comfortable enough to come back on stage at the end to be applauded. Unfortunately witnessed people leaving before the end, as show was far too long for the young children. Don't show a show if things are not ready. Won't be back in a hurry.

User

A rather late review about Peter Pan. We've taken our grandchildren to the Northcott for pantomimes for the last 15 years ( only stopping after the panto moved to the Corn Exchange - no atmosphere). Every performance has been brilliant, but we were so disappointed with Peter Pan. I know it's not a pantomime, but it failed on every level ( unless of course one of your children appeared in it )

PLEASE let's have Steve back in his panto lead & some Christmas cheer restored. I have written to the Northcott to voice my views, in January, but have not had the courtesy of a reply.

User

The parking facilities is shockingly bad, to the point it is non existent. I gave up my holiday to drive a group of people on a minibus to the show today. Not only did we have problems with the lack of parking, & drop off, the young lad serving behind the bar was incredibly rude! I asked politely & kindly for a sandwich. The girl who served me was very polite & apologetic. This lad interrupted & started telling me to go elsewhere. Then had the cheek to say “some people are never satisfied”. I gave my time & holiday up to help others to be treated so disgustingly, I will not be going back there & will never recommend the place!

I bet this doesn’t get posted!!!

User

Really disappointed that the performance was cancelled this evening. I dropped my daughter off to meet her Guide group, and no sooner had I got home than I received a text to say it was cancelled, and to come back to collect her.

So we now have an upset daughter and have wasted time and fuel after having planned our day around it.

Not good enough.

User

For the last 60 odd years I have wanted to see Peter Pan acted live. At last the opportunity came and my daughter was kind enough to book tickets for us. Yesterday evening she was staying overnight with me and imagine our horror when she received an email telling us that the show was cancelled. You didn,t even have the courtesy to put a message, explanation or apology on your website or Facebook page. If my daughter had not had her phone with her we would have travelled all the way to Exeter this evening and been very disappointed and angry. I am sure I am not the only person to feel like this.
