Congratulations Maui!
Our pet of the month for June!
This sweet little pup came into us at just 10 weeks old when his new owners discovered he had a prolapsed bottom and diarrhoea.
... We discovered that he had a bug called Giardia, which sits in the small intestine. Giardia can cause vomiting and diarrhoea, which can then result in weight loss. We suspected that Maui's prolapse was secondary to straining so much to pass faeces.
Luckily, Maui's owners were very attentive to his needs and quickly returned to the practice when he prolapsed twice more!
A suture was then put into place in the hope this would be enough to allow his bottom to heal, whilst he was treated for the tummy upset. Thankfully the suture was a success and removed a few days later. :)
Maui has continued to recover very well and despite his unpleasant treatments and frequent visits at such a young age, he is still excited to see us and a very playful boy! :)
Well done Maui and owners! xx

CONGRATULATIONS BARLEY
Our pet of the month for May! (Apologies for the delay!)
Barley's owner was shocked to find Barley in her hutch with a sore, bleeding eye. Her owner came straight down to the surgery, but sadly her eye could not be saved.
... Barley was sent home with pain killers, to return the next day to have surgery to remove her eye. Everything went well and we are so pleased to report Barley has recovered without any problems :)
She was such a brave girl and her owners swift actions meant that Barley received the right treatment as quickly as possible!
xx

On Monday night our dear friend and colleague, Janie Ratliff, passed away suddenly. She leaves behind her partner Barry, who works with us here at the practice, and her three children, the youngest just 7 months of age.
Janie was about to return to work after the birth of her third child and her maternity leave. She was so looking forward to coming back to work and we, of course, were so looking forward to having her back at the helm; on reception and in the office with her ...calm manner and helpful nature, exceptional work ethic and joyous sense of humour.
Janie spent her life working with animals and when she started here at Fareham Creek some 10 or so years ago, it felt like a match made in heaven, for us all.
We are all just so devastated by this loss. You have no idea how much you will be missed, Janie. Our love and thoughts are with Barry and their beautiful children.
