The aim of this page is to complement the NCT web page for the branch. As part of developing parental support of the branch, details of events and support services in the area will be made avaliable. It is also an opportunity for people to feedback about the services that they have experienced in the public and private sectors that have helped and hindered. Had a lovely busy morning at Bumps and Babies today. Lots of chat about nursery choices, weaning and baby wearing. See you all next week!
Due to family illness today there isn't anyone to help run the Bumps and Babies group this morning, so I am going to have to cancel it unfortunately. I am sorry to have to let you down at such short notice.
I will be there tomorrow with a cuppa and some biscuits. Come join us before you head off into the sunshine.
Introducing solids!
SHIP MVP Planning Stakeholder day. Mon 11 Feb, 0930-1230, Wells Place, Eastleigh. I've just heard about this event and plan to go, but don't know what will be involved. However, if you're seriously interested in being involved in the future of Maternity Voices Partnerships (MVPs), which is the user body which informs how maternity services operate, then you could come too. Will update with any further information if/when I get it. (SHIP stands for Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, and Portsmouth).
It was lovely to hear from a mum at today's baby group in Gosport, about the NCT Introducing Solids workshop she recently attended. She found it really useful, even having already attended a Health Visitor course. Here's one of the resources she shared with me - First Steps Nutrition Trust Guide to Introducing Solids. This friendly group is there to support all parents to be, parents or carers of babies. Bumps and babies is a chance for you to get together in a friendly environment to drink a hot cuppa, chat, ask questions and make new friends. We understand that caring for a baby can be quite lonely at times. Why join us and see what it is all about. Anyone is welcome. Please bring your friends along. A donation of £2 per family is suggested

We are aware that one of the biggest questions we have is how to choose the right childcare for your child. We are very fortunate to have Lauren joining us this week for a quick chat about questions to ask and what kind of activities the babies or toddlers will do. Lauren will then also share a prepared activity with the children who are there. If this interests you, please fonpop along. Refreshments and toys will be there as usual.
