Farnham Film School Y0 Students went to the National Gallery as part of their Storytelling and Staging unit where students re-interpret a historical painting in today's times as a photographic tableau. Al Johnson gave insight into the stories behind paintings and artists' approaches. Fantastic trip!

On Thursday 14th November, UCA hosted Farnham's first ever student-led Film Festival, produced in association with UCA's Glasshouse Student Union, managed by BA Film students Rafiya Williams, Logan Bailey, Qutaibah Alkhateeb, Megan Walker and with assistance by Hadley Keenan, Miriam Said and Lucia Rodriguez. It was judged by Film &TV Program Director Charis Coke, Film Production tutor Paul Whatton andFilm Tech tutor Phillip Osborne.
The different categories included Directin...g, Editing, Cinematography and Originality. They expected around 20 or 30 people to come but numbers were closer to 100-150!
Logan Bailey Quote: The number of submissions exceed all our expectations! We were so incredibly shocked and grateful that the people of UCA were so ready to network and support each other, giving each other a platform to showcase and be proud of the things they make for their course. It was a stage for students to be able to screen their own art. We received documentaries, adverts, trailers, music videos, experimental shorts, narrative fiction, animation. Overall, everybody had such a great time! Afterwards we went directly to the student union where we had some performances and an open bar, as well as the announcements of the lucky winners (deliberated by the Staff Judges). It was a FANTASTIC night and so successful that UCA Film staff & Student Union Glasshouse have both agreed to support a second festival next year, which can only get bigger and better!
