About Fisher'S Pond
Welcome to The Fishers Pond. A beautiful dog friendly lakeside country pub with a hearty seasonal menu, roaring log fires and approved excellent real ales.
Fisher'S Pond Description
Whether you’re looking for a long, lazy lunch with family, or a spontaneous mid-week treat with friends, we’ve got you covered. Our beautiful pub and restaurant combines the cosy, rustic features of the countryside with delicious, contemporary food and drink.
Our menus change seasonally to offer you the very best, fresh ingredients. And when it comes to refreshment, our fridges are fully stocked with plenty to choose from, including countryside ciders, cask ales, prosecco and carefully selected wines.
This beautiful pub gets its name from the tranquil pond which it sits on. It started life as a tea room called Fisher’s Café, then later became the waterside pub and dining room we know and love today. Surrounded by gorgeous green belt land, it’s the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
After a bite to eat with us, why not make a day of it and discover what’s beyond our walls, including the natural beauty that is Itchen Valley Country Park or the more exotic Marwell Zoo.
As part of the Vintage Inns family, we’re proud of our heritage and welcoming service which ensures you’ll always receive the full Vintage treatment. So, sit back while we take care of the rest. The countryside is calling.

We were there yesterday for lunch and couldn’t fault the service. In fact, the service we received was worthy of a Michelin star restaurant in the West End of London. Maybe the way staff are treated by customers reflects in the service given. We had a bottle of wine and the 2 course lunch menu and were extremely happy with our food. We will be returning. Thank you for a very pleasant lunch in beautiful surroundings.
We went here on valentines coz we used to come here regularly before we moved away - it was great, I'd definitely come here again and I've recommended it to others already
I absolutely loved all my courses at this place. Food was exceptionally tasty and beautifully cooked. In fact i am off there again to have same meal.
Had a wonderful meal ' in the beautiful setting of Fishers Pond,Meals arrived swiftly, and where most enjoyable, however,I think a bit too much food was put on the plates, which means waste
The staff where very helpful & friendly
Had a lovely meal at Fishers Pond tonight for my fiance's birthday! All the food was delicious and the service was brilliant - Nick is an amazing waiter and every time we come in we are always so happy to see him! It's lovely to see someone so enthusiastic and enjoying their job! He made our night! Thanks Nick you're fab! Xxx
Fantastic place. Lovely view, polite, helpful staff. Didn't have to wait too long for the food which was delicious and piping hot. Couple of things on the menu were not available but that was the only negative point. Would definitely go again.
Fantastic meal and very polite staff . Four of us arrived at about 1.30 bank holiday Monday and we were able to get a perfect table by the window over looking the pond even though it was really busy . Will definitely go again with the rest of our family. Lovely ambience too
Fantastic food .... all staff obliging....really nice clean patio and furniture outlook to the pond ..... chilling
Thanks Ben
Always good here, even on a reduced menu excuse of a chef being sick, but the food was delicious and the staff and service was as always awesome,
Lovely restaurant and location but unfortunately they were out of quite a bit of the vegan menu - although this could possibly be a good thing if lots of vegans had cleared them out! Would definitely go again as the vegan options are nice.
Had lunch with friends on Thursday. Food was excellent with all meals tasty and well presented. Service was varied as when the larger tables arrived service levels dropped off so in conclusion could do with more staff.we were advised that the lunch time special menus are not available during festive period.Lovely location and pleasant experience overall.
Service was slow, however they were busy. They got the food order wrong... I think the chef struggled to know the difference between a rib eye and a fillet steak... oops! The pub is atmospheric and was very pretty and smelt of log fires. Just a shame the service let them down a bit! Good but no cigar!
I love this pub such a great venue but was very disapointed with my visit today, I bought 2 meals totalling £30 and they were both the size of children's meals, I will not be ordering food here again was even told by the waiter that management were uninterested in my comments.
Please take this feedback on board, no main meal should come with only 12 chips and a few leaves of lettuce !
Very disappointing lunch today. They seemed to have sold out of a large range of soft drinks, even sparkling water! A couple of things off the menu as well.
Ordered a steak sandwich specifically without mayonnaise - it arrives with mayo, send it back and 10 minutes later the same bit of steak (still with some mayonnaise on it) comes back in a new piece of bread! Absolutely appalled at this practice, if I had been allergic to horseradish mayonnaise there could have been a big problem, waitress apologised but didn’t seem too bothered, manager (never seen from start to finish) authorised a refund. All in all I was not impressed with this service, or the way it was dealt with. Will give the Fishers Pond a wide berth for a while I think.
Not impressed won’t be goin back, 1hr wait for the main and it wasn’t particularly busy had so called triple cooked chips which were anaemic, beer battered cod was tasteless and watery, so didn’t bother with dessert.!!!!
Normally the service is brilliant, unfortunately we went last night for my birthday meal and the service was very slow. Table booked at 6.30 and we got our food at 7.30. My son got his 5 mins before we did and we still hadn't had pudding by 8.45. When asked why it was so bad we got told there was a table of 9 who hadn't booked that messed fbdm up. Sadly it didn't look busy I think they were short staffed and that was the issue. A disappointing birthday meal that cost over £100
I love this place because it’s got nice garden, but the food has never been very nice and it always takes ages!
My main concern however is service.
It must be a joke! I don’t even know where to start! Tables are always full of dirty plates and glasses from previous customers, so you have to sort it out yourself, they’re filthy and they never come to clear your table after you finish your meal. Also we were told today to get our own cutlery after running around clearing our table etc... I could go on and on.
I would change management! Service needs massive improvement!
I have doubts that I will ever convince my husband to go there again
Went for lunch and was promptly told once we had ordered a drink. Chef had had a busy lunch time and not doing walk ins!! Why advertise food all day if you can’t do it!!! Maybe get a chef that can cope!! That’s it twice we have been disappointed. Such a shame as so local. Won’t be going back unless they can sort them selves out!!
We waited an hour for food, which was average.
This was after being told that our first choice of meal- pizza for child and a sandwich for one of the adults was unavailable. No bread and no pizza! At midday on a Saturday.
This was after waiting for the children’s menu that never came
This was after waiting to be seated for 5 minutes without being seated.
You pay when you order, so we waited. For over an hour in the end.
Afternoon at Marwell ruined.
And... someone recommended this place to us for a quick bite before our day out!!
Awful.
