Footworks Bristol Description
Our feet are expected to take 10, 000 steps per day, that’s over 3. 5 million steps a year. That's why experts recommend you see a Podiatrist at least once a year.
The repetitive motion of walking and running can place stress on our feet, legs, pelvis, muscles, tendons and ligaments potentially leading to pain, discomfort and injury at either foot level (whether it's corns, callus, forefoot, arch or heel pain) or further up the body as with shin, knee or hip pain, for example.
A Podiatrist is a specialist of the foot, ankle and lower limb. Sports Podiatrists (or musculoskeletal Podiatrists) primarily focus on the way the foot interacts with the ground and try to consider the loads and stresses that the lower limb has to deal with when walking and during sporting activity. This is often also referred to as 'biomechanics'.
Podiatric biomechanics and gait analysis (studying your walking pattern) can help to identify and address the factors that may be causing or contributing to problems, helping you to recover from an injury or minimise the risk of injury in the future.
Naomi Green MSc is a Podiatrist specialising in assessing and treating the biomechanics of the foot and lower limbs, musculoskeletal and sporting injuries in addition to treating all aspects of general footcare.
Following completion of her BSc (Hons) degree in 1999 Naomi worked for the NHS and then went on to work in private healthcare clinics. Naomi has obtained a postgraduate certificate in Sports Podiatry, and also completed her Masters degree in Biomechanics at Staffordshire University, where she was awarded a merit for her research into football boots and injury.
Naomi combines her knowledge and use of many other treatments to reduce symptoms, and improve lower limb and foot health, complimenting any on-going care patients are receiving from other health professionals.
