Assessment, what is it we are actually looking for at an assessment? These are some of the questions IтАЩm asking whilst analysing your horse before a treatment that you can do yourself.
ЁЯР┤ - How does each leg move through each stride? - does it move straight and bend through all of the joints involved equally?
... ЁЯР┤ - Are the stride lengths equal on all legs?
ЁЯР┤ - Does the foot land with the heel first, flat, or toe first without any rotation or roll on the inner or outer edges of the hoof?
ЁЯР┤ - Is the tail being carried relaxed, clamped, or to one side?
ЁЯР┤ - Does the pelvis look like it is moving equally both sides with no hip hike/drop on one side?
ЁЯР┤ - Does the horses hooves sound like they are hitting the ground in a rhythmical beat or is one or more sounding louder than another?
ЁЯР┤ - Is the horses barrel swinging equally to both sides?
ЁЯР┤ - What is the horses head and neck doing? Is it moving freely with the gait or being carried low, head bopping, or favouring one side?
ЁЯР┤ - Are the shoulders moving freely allowing the forelimb strides to flow?
ЁЯР┤ - What is the horses expression saying?
ЁЯР┤ - How does the horses back look in movement? Are there any areas which look restricted?
ЁЯР┤ - Does any of the above change on different surfaces or circles?
ЁЯР┤ - Are there any areas on your horses skin that wrinkle with movement?
These are all things you can be looking out for yourself at home with the help of a handler or a camera. If you spot any abnormalities itтАЩs time to get your physio involved. Any lameness needs to be reported to your vet prior to ANY bodywork. A good bodyworker will always request vet consent prior to treatment. Happy horses are healthy horses тЭдя╕П

Its likely any issues you experience from your horse is an accumulation of small things which have gone unnoticed over a matter of time, sometimes we can address it in one session followed by exercises at home, and other times a course of treatment is required to bring the horse back to full function.
I always treat the horse as a WHOLE not isolating any one issue to get the best results.

Do you know what causes Hip Dysplasia in dogs?
ЁЯР╢ Puppies are born with healthy hips, but they can develop hip Dysplasia after birth, xrays can show these changes from as early as 1 month old.
ЁЯУЦ Studies have shown that 30% of dogs have a genetic condition for Hip Dysplasia and 70% are due to environmental influences such as trauma! ... Scientists do not know the exact gene which causes Hip Dysplasia which is why breeding programmes have not been 100% successful.
But having hip Dysplasia isnтАЩt the be all and end all...
ЁЯУЪ The definition given by Riser, a scientist involved in many studies with Hip Dysplasia said that it is the тАЬfailure of the muscles and soft tissues to hold the hip joint in full congruityтАЭ it is this primary definition along with the abnormal formation of the hip socket or femoral head which causes problems for our four legged friends.
тЬЕWith this definition in mind we are able as physiotherapists to target the hip stabilisers with exercises to strengthen the hindlimb muscles to prevent the joint laxity and decrease the acceleration of osteoarthritis which is what causes the pain element involved in the condition.

Wow Ella diagnosed my horse brilliant, and did effect treatment to kept him calm throughout. Highly recommend as have happy horse and owner now. Great advise given too. Thank you so much for a very in depth session & diagnose report!x

So calm and patient with my horse, despite him having a few moments and being an absolute fidget! He's certainly feeling happier already- as soon as he went out to his field he had a good roll! Would highly recommend!!

After recent lameness Ella tried out a myofascial release technique on him, and he definitely enjoyed this and relaxed into the massage. Ella has a very calm and sensitive approach. She is patient and spent a lot of time with my horse. Following the treatment she gave me plenty of information about exercises that would benefit my horse. She is keen to help and takes a real interest in being updated on the horses progress.

Ella came out to visit my horse for a routine treatment. I explained he had trouble maintaining canter but i had previously put this down to a growing young horse. Ella was very thorough and spent a lot of time on areas shown up on the thermal images. Ella has provided a report and given me advice to follow and excercises for me to maintain and strengthen my horse. I would thoroughly recommend Ellas service.

Ella came out to see Cleo for a general check over and she was lovely and quiet with Cleo. The horse is very wary of strangers and Ella took her time and only did what the horse was comfortable with, and gave us lots of stretches and homework to do with her. Would highly recommend her to anyone!
