Our story here in Gloucester has its roots 200 miles north of this place, in the rolling uplands of Cumbria.

In 1972, Cumbrian farmers John and Barbara Dunning set up Tebay Services in partnership with local bakers when the M6 cut through the Tebay Gorge. It was the first and is still the only family run motorway service station on the UK road network – a small 30 seat café serving home cooked, locally sourced food.

Forty years on and we are still here, still family owned, still farming and still with a fierce passion for, and a pride in, our landscape, our people, our environment and its products. So much so that it has gone on to inspire us to innovate and find new ways of creating business opportunities in the most unlikely of locations – on the side of a motorway.

So now we have moved South. Located between junctions 11a and 12 of the M5, on the outskirts of Gloucester, Gloucester Services are the newest addition to the Westmorland Family of businesses.

Wonderful Farm shop!. The food is absolutely gorgeous. We bought several items to bring home for a quick supper from the farm shop. Gifts are clothes are superb. As are the choice of wines and soft drinks. Will always stop here in the future. Such a wonderful change from the usual motorway stop offs.

User

We stopped off at these services today, walked around the shop area with my walking stick, very nice brought some meat from the butchers, tasty as we had the lamb steaks for dinner this evening,

We also purchase lunch there, only observation was very clean, tidy, and my concern is, where the knifes/ forks and spoon were, I think they should be wrapped in a serviette as then your not touching all of them when picking yr utensils out of the buckets,

Will definitely come again for a stop off, the outside scenery with the pond, nice touch, xx

This place is like a breath of fresh air, not only does the cafe/restaurant serve really really good food, and the shop is amazing, but the people are just the best.

On our latest stop, my 7yr old son left his messenger bag with all his holiday pocket money in it. He was devastated. We emailed the site and the Operations manager responded in only a few hours that he’d help look for it. 24hours later they emailed to say it had been found and still had all the items inside. The staff went out of their way to help a very upset little boy and things like that are just worth their weight in gold when it comes to great service. Fantastic right first time attitude and great passion for customer service. Many thanks Simon

The best services I have ever visited. Beautiful green space, lovely architecture, and real food available. I drive electric, and would not have stopped there if I did not need to charge up. I'm glad I did, and always make a point of making a planned stop there when I am going that way.

User

Stopped off for lunch on our way north today. We had the roast dinner & it was absolutely delicious. Topped it off with an ice cream cone. Yum! Thanks to all at the services

User

Never been to services like it. We were South bound and stopped for refreshments; lovely choice of food hot or cold. The cafe backs onto a pond with beautiful wild life; water birds and dragon flies. After a rest we wandered round the bakery, butchers and craft/ gift ideas area. It wasn't expensive and the service was excellent.

User

I have past this place loads of times & never stopped! I will now be stopping every time! The cleanest , modern , unique services ive ever stopped off at. There are showers a little make up area a pond to sit out at! The meals were better than food in my home city of bath! The sausage roll frm the petrol station was the best ive ever had! Well done to all the staff who work there

User

I cannot drive by without stopping. It is a physical impossibility. The farm shop can keep me occupied for at least an hour... the deli, the butchery, the cakes. Wish it was closer if only for the sausage baps from the small kitchen. Oh and my boys thought the wooden play area was amazing!

User

Great place to stop on the way to Cornwall with a decent coffee and lots of hot and cold food. Plenty of cakes great seating and a lovely view of a small lake with ducks.

User

Best services I have ever been to. From family bathrooms, play area, to a variety of takeaway or sit down food all home made and loving prepared at a reasonable price for services! Great farm shop adjoining for all handmade, homemade produce. Don't usually spend time at a service station, toilets and out. They all have the same over priced shops and unappealing food. However, this place was a breath of fresh air and we enjoyed eating lunch by the lake with moorhens and dragon flys. 10/10

User

Absolutely lovely place to stop on the M5. Will be even better when the Tesla Superchargers are installed. Bright and airy restaurant. Nothing like your regular motorway services. Great outlook over the lake watching the moorhens and ducks as you munch your lunch. Lots of super gifts, grocery items, artisan bakery in the shopping area, but I’ve given it four stars not five because this is a mega expensive place to shop and get a bite to eat. I’ll have to explain to my wife where all the cash went when I get home! My wallet was severely depleted by the time I left!

User

So expensive! 2 x sausage rolls = £7.20!! Honestly, i was expecting a full meal for that.

Fuel as per other service stations - an extra 20p + per litre.

Marked 3 stars, as its landscaped nicely. But operated by Dick Turpin!

User

Nice enough place but ridiculously expensive - £3.60 for a sausage roll and £2+ for a takeaway cup of tea. It may be organic produce but completely unjustifiable prices, particularly for the teabag in a paper cup of hot water. Will avoid stopping here in future.

User

Lovely place nice and tidy, and as a trucker it’s nice to see a range of healthy foods & snacks only thing is it’s very over priced £23.00 to park and a £5 voucher, not good at all!

User

Sorry give only 2 stars - this is entirely due to dreadful service at the "fast" food counter this morning.(It wasn't fast !) I joined what appeared to be the shortest queue but realised that the woman serving had abandoned her till to serve and chat to a coach driver who was not in a queue. When she eventually returned her attitude was unfriendly. She placed my order on her side of the counter meaning that I had to stretch over to reach the items. This was after I had hesitated for a few seconds, expecting that she would push them nearer to me. Apparently trays are not available at the fast food counter and there was no offer of cardboard cup carrier or similar . Do other fast counter customers have more than two hands ? At no time did the server, or girl who brought a toasted sandwich, look in the least bit friendly or give even half a smile. Such a shame as the food , rest of the Service Station , farm shop etc seemed so good. I will visit again in the hope that some customer service training has been actioned.

User

Food nowhere near as good as usual. Cold lasagne, dried up focaccia, which was supposed to come with a side salad but initially served without that (and the greenery had definitely seen better days) - chips only thing that were ok but by the time we’d waited for a burger to be cooked for Our grandson (no child size ones and ready cooked ones were smothered with stuff he didn’t want on it), then queued to pay, the chips weren’t that hot either! Very disappointing and definitely overpriced for food of the quality we were served today. Never had food or service as bad from here before.

User

These are not "Services" as such . Its an expensive farm grocery shop, and cafe.

Where you won't find anything that you'd need on a motorway.

No car oil or liquid or screen wash, a plug? A USB charger? NO.

But if you like handpicked berries or locally sourced swede at 1am they're open for you.

User

Stopped here for breakfast on 31/03/18. Apparently a traditional breakfast here consists of half a rasher of hard bacon, a dried up sausage, half a cold tomato, cold beans and a good slice of black pudding. I had cold hard toast and frozen butter i had to apply to the toast in slices. The coffee however was good. Overall disgusting and very expensive at £10. I should have stopped at Michaelwood, vastly superior. I wont be using this service again. I also needed fuel but wont pay nearly £1.40 a litre. No wonder there were only half a dozen people in there.

User

Southbound. Last year this place was brilliant, stayed overnight in the caravan area, toilets were open all night as was the take away cafe part for snacks and drinks. Stayed 3 times. Just arrived to find all food areas closed, partner told open for toilets only, I went over 30 seconds later and the woman on the front door wouldn't let me in at all, saying the whole place shuts at 10pm!!! It never used to, no wonder we were the only people staying here overnight! She said I could go over to the garage in the far distance and use their facilities as they had a nice seating area! I wanted the toilet and shower that we were paying for, not a damn seating area, plus I wasn't going to walk god knows how far across a dark car park and back on my own looking for a garage. Very poor attitude and very poor facilities, will stay elsewhere in future..
