Gloucester Services Southbound

Well impressed with the service and thought it was great value. 2 adults and 2 kids Sunday roasts and drinks for £27.50.

Quality food and particularly good vegetables.

Very clean and tidy table area with plenty of staff to keep things clean.

I've visited both North and South services and never disappointed

User

This is one of my favorite places in all of England. I will seriously plan further vacations around being on the M5 around suppertime. The number of otherwise well-educated and sensible people I've met in the UK who don't know about this place is appalling.

User

There is not a butchers like it (northbound) it is hard to beat the quality of meat, price and friendly staff who are very informative on every aspect (cut to cooking). Add in some lovely Speciality breads, pastries, pies, organic veg and gin - I'm in heaven!

User

So unlike any other run of the mill services. Great deaign. Fantastic place to stop and relax. I try and arrange bu

siness meetings there. I stopped to refresh on return from Leeds on afternoon sat out the back with view of large pond and waterfall and caught an amazing sunset!

User

Sitting next to a pond watching the dragonflies on a beautiful spring afternoon Must be one of the best motorway services in the .

Good food, a shop selling excellent local produce

User

Like no other service station I've ever been to. Cannot believe that on the M5 you can get a well cooked meal of healthy locally produced ingredients, served by polite cheerful staff, in architecturally well designed and ecological surroundings. The farm shop is stocked with high quality produce and beautiful gift items. It is somewhere I will return to as a destination in itself to eat and shop. Such a relief from the usual depressing plastic conformity of every other services. It may not be as cheap (although I haven't noticed service station food ever being that cheap) but you get what you pay for. The coffee is actually cheaper than a Costa one I had on the outbound trip at another services. Hope this is the future for motorway services!

User

Internally the service station is clean, bright and well maintained, externally I felt it needed some tlc, bits of rubbish strewn over the place, but I suppose this can be put down to the volume of visitors, I would recommend this place for somewhere to stop have a comfort break and explore the local food products, will definitely be using it again and again.

User

Good quality food but at premium prices. Unfortunately the fuel is just as overpriced as the rest of the motorway network. Alway very clean and tidy, the staff are excellent. The loo facilities are clean without the disgusting smells you come to associate with other motorway service areas. All in all worth a visit and the occasional edible treat. I hope the operator opens similar service areas in direct competition with the existing chains who need to be dragged up to this standard.

User

Great concept without the big brands but the cost of a few take away coffees and a handful of sausage baps was astronomical ! I applaud the effort to use local produce but you can't justify those kind of prices based on that.

Great building but won't be stopping at again

User

We had a 40 minute stop at this station while on our homeward bound journey on a coach. The services themselves look lovely and are well presented.

However, when we joined the queue for sandwiches we were waiting for 20 minutes for the 2 members of staff to serve 2 customers. As there were another 10 people before us, we decided to go to the farm shop instead.

The farm shop is a RIP OFF! Prices are extortionate and offers are ridiculous. 2 x 25g bag of crisps for £2 or 150g bag of same crisps for £2 just to name a one example. No sandwiches left at 11am on Saturday morning and again not enough staff serving.

All in all the place would be a lovely garden center or farm shop, but it does not work as a service station for traveler's on the go.

User

Usually enjoy our stop here... but today a different story, the roast dinner that they tried to give me was awful, the meat was all fat, 2 small potatoes, no yorkshire, bad customer service from the 2 girls serving the meals today

User

This place is supposed to have a great reputation, but they completely failed to live up to it today. I would say that in my opinion the trouble is either with the chef or the management, or more likely both.

On the hot plate was a very limited choice of 1 hot non-vegetarian meal. No steak pie, which I had to wait for. Chicken soup run out, tomato soup almost run out.

The staff at the hot plate were polite and friendly, so kudos to them. But the explanation for all the food running out because they had been very busy doesn’t wash, because the place was far from busy at 7pm on Sunday evening. Soup tureens of that size, do not suddenly become empty, but lack of care by the chef or whoever is responsible is the only explanation.

It is extremely disappointing to plan to visit what is supposed to be a great place and experience what I did today.

I will give you one more chance on my next trip, but there won’t be a third, if it’s like this next time.

I feel the need to add to this review.

After finishing my meal, I went back to get my soup, which had now been replenished. In order to reinforce my original review, they had completely neglected to replenish the bread rolls, which are included in the price of the soup.

This resulted in another several minute delay, while someone fetched one.

While I was eating my dinner, I read a few other reviews left on here and see that you simply don’t answer any of them. I suggest you change that sharpish, otherwise your reputation is going to go down the toilet.

User

Sadly these services have gone down hill, which is sad.

Sinks and hand dryers in the ladies toilets broken.

Saddest was when 2 members of staff ignored me as I stood at the till to pay for a hot breakfast, I had to ask if anyone would take my money - was very close to leaving the plate of food and walking out!

Not what I expect for the prices charged - really not cheap, and it wasn’t that spectacular!

User

I'm really sorry Gloucester Services but since you've opened as a trucker meal prices have increased and portion size and selection has cut massively. Why don't you offer people who pay to park over night a meal and drink included in the price instead of just a £5 voucher which means we then have to put approximately £7 on top to get a "snack" and smaller size than before coffee!!!!! Drivers will start returning to Strensham and Michaelwood at this rate....

I know wonder if this reaches the people it should or is lost on deaf ears?

User

£8.50 for a dry burger and a can of lemonade... if ever there was somewhere crying out for a McDonald's this is it... they stopped doing jacket potatoes and replaced them with curries, stopped those and replaced them with god knows what.. if I hadn't run out of driving time I wouldn't have stopped here....

User

stopped for a coffee thank goodness it was only that after a very very long wait for 2 coffees we sat down just admiring and a guy came to fill up the cutlery he dropped some knives on the floor picked them up and put to one side we watched him put all the other cutlery out then pick up the knives and put in with the clean ones thought no one was watching glad I wasn't eating there, toilets were dirty as well not a good impression

User

Went here today .first time in ages. Had a toasted cheese sandwich which is usually dripping. This one was barely toasted and couldn't be described as warm. Asked for chips and was told no chips go over there and get them. Presuming she meant one of the other areas for food. I've been before and although not on the menu I've had them cooked for me. There wasn't a great choice of pies and no sausage rolls. But thankfully the queuing system seems to have improved. All in all I probably won't be going there again as it was very disappointing

User

Really not happy - treated myself to a stop here today for a handmade burger and chips.

The chips were greasy and overdone, and the burger, plain, on an untoasted roll, no cheese, offered salad and relish but nothing else, was simply horrible.

This is advertised as a hand made burger in a services that prides itself on high quality food.

What I got was cheap and nasty, and tasted horrible - mushy, overly salty, cheap beef.

I would have complained in person but the services were swamped today and there was really no one available to speak to.

Come on guys, a simple burger is not hard to do, toast the buns, offer cheese, use the quality beef you certainly have access to.

Very disappointing.

User

Not the worst burger I've ever had but with seriously adulterated meat pattie and unripe vegetables probably scrounged from the "too tasteless for the supermarket" bin this Farm Shop is a serious contender. British fast food at its worst. Foreskins, snouts and scrotums between two horrible bun halves,
