We visited a few weeks ago and enjoyed a great late Sunday lunch. Barrie and his very attentive team looked after us famously, the food was great and we particularly enjoyed the setting. We went to the bar for our teas and coffees afterwards which is super cool and very nicely designed, great for hanging out anytime of the week I'd say.

This has got to be one of the best places in the south coast ,the venue it’s self is stunning and has amazing views where ever you are in the building inside or out. The staff are very welcoming and polite, food is amazing and would recommend this to any of my friends or anyone who wants to try something amazing , Also I must say, it has to be one of the best venue in the uk I have ever dj at with amazing sun - sea views ,it like being in ibiza.

User

Six of us had a 3 course meal here it was a birthday celebration , service and food could not have been better , went up to the top for cocktails after , definitely go back again we all had a fab time .

User

Lovely place,lovely setting, lovely views.

Been there twice now, once for a cream tea and once for pizza, both delicious.

Drinks expensive but kind of expect it at a place like that.

User

10 of us visited last night for a 21st birthday. Really lovely place, the view was beautiful, the food was really good, a few of us had the steak which we thought was 10/10! We were looked after by a lovely Hungarian lady I think her name was Judith, she was very accommodating, happy & friendy & gave us 1st class service. We will def be back!

User

Great location. With views over the water. They have a nice terraced area as part of their rooftop bar, with a large pizza oven. Decent menu, not too extensive. Food is nicely cooked and presented, especially the deserts. Drinks are pricy and the bar service takes a while. Nice seating areas but the air-conditioning makes it a bit cold. I hate the ceiling which is bare concrete slaps so you can feel like you are relaxing in a car park.

User

The view is excellent. The food is not so, it’s OK.

However, what was more annoying was that the bar says that the dress code is smart/ casual and yet there were guys there in shorts and flip flops or tracksuit bottoms. Even two of the waiters were wearing jeans.

This is not what was expected at such an establishment

User

Ideal location with stunning views but let down by detail - bird droppings on the glass; birds walking around the bar; the music level was suddenly turned up from pleasant, background, easy listening to a night time rave (it was 4pm); there was confusion about whether it was table service or bar service and who should get the menus. So, in summery, this is not a top class venue although it thinks it is!

User

Good Points...great view and great atmosphere.....Bad Points....a menu with minimal choice and when you do decide on what you want they tell you they’ve run out and it’s not available. This happened with our mains and our dessert choices. Eventually decided to order the steak and was told we couldn’t have it cooked how we wanted only medium/well with no explanation as to why and when it did come out it was stone cold along with the side of chips. Sent it back but meant some of the party had to eat before the others (prawn and salad choice). When we questioned the staff on what the chocolate cake option was like she shrugged her shoulders and told us chocolate cake. Then when the bill came out we had meals added on there that we hadn’t ordered as well adding money to the meals that we had ordered? After it was questioned we got some money taken off but for our night out to a restaurant/bar we had all wanted to try it was definitely a mutual agreement that no one will be returning!

Will not be visiting again. Booked for afternoon tea. Arrived on time to be told our table was not ready and directed to the bar. Over priced watery diet coke and 25 minutes later we got our table. Sandwiches warm cakes dry scones greasy and over worked. Jam tasteless and frankly the worst I've ever tasted. We complained only to be told well you've had the food and it's a new menu. No apology that most of our food was returned. The best they could offer was an email address so that next time I book I should contact them to personally ensure good service. Over priced under delivered never to be experienced again. Don't be deceived by the staged photos on here the experience is very different. I've had much better from a 1 star hotel. The decor is only half finished judging by the numerous stains on the ceiling. Save your money and go elsewhere. I'd not even give 1 star but had to in order to comment.

We were there for my birthday, having a great time.

Firstly if you want to have a cigarette you're forced up the other end where it's packed - fine. But when we leaned against the railing to check the view, security advised that we couldn't as fag butts were not allowed to be flicked over because of the boats... my friend has more class than that - what they should have done is handed us an ashtray!

Then, when we got home, I realised that despite everyone else's bill being £43; my partner paid £72! All he did was buy an extra ginger mixer. The bar staff had decided to use premium whisky & given he'd bought 2 doubles... they were £12 each (normal were £6!!)!! £48 on whisky to mix with ginger... Not at all acceptable, dampened my birthday night.

Visited for lunch today, the service was abysmal and the food badly cooked and poorly presented.

My partner ordered a cheese burger, it was overcooked and the brioche was dry. He asked for relish but none arrived, the waitress did not know what relish was, we had to explain.

I ordered the char grilled broccoli with green salad, the broccoli had not been near a grill, it appeared to be stir fried, very oily and served with too much sliced garlic which wasn't cooked.

We had to ask for our drinks twice after ordering them, the bottle of mineral water was left on the table so by the time I poured a 2nd glass it was hot.

The venue is fantastic and has so much potential but needs better staff. We shan't be returning any time soon.

Visited Southampton and went in here for a drink. Very posh eneterance and the whole place is built to look like some up-market cruise ship. Took the lift up to the bar and it looked impressive. Waited at the bar for ages and was then told we had to sit at a table and look at a menu to be served, all we wanted was a pint and i told him that. Waited for ages, asked 2 waiters to take our order but they didnt and we eventually got fed up, got up and left. I cant see how this places makes any money, it was not busy. We could have bought and drunk two rounds in the time they didnt serve us. We ended up in another smart bar near by and had a briliant session, the bar man in there told us they got lots of customers pissed of with the 6th who come down to them- Not suprised really.

User

Poor service, poor food. We had the Sunday roast, it most certainly wasn’t worth the £16 each. I have made nicer myself. I had the apple pie and custard for dessert - aunt Bessie’s frozen apple pie is miles better. Overall great scenery, poor food & poor service, wouldn’t recommend or return.

User

Last time I came here, I walked out as it took 20 minutes to not get drinks, despite there being 7 staff standing around, less than 6 customers in the entire bar area and us asking twice if we could order.

However I was persuaded to try it again and the night started well, it was busy, the waiters were much more attentive and drinks were forthcoming until we ordered food (1 burger and 2 pizza). My wife and my friend ate their main course while I watched. We raised my lack of food with two staff and were eventually told they had forgotten my burger. My main course was actually served at the same time my wife and my friends plates were cleared away, not acceptable!

Here was my trip advisor review....

Absolutely awful birthday meal. From the minute we walked and and couldn’t get served, the barman was rude and told us to move, so once seated we ordered from the table thinking it would be quicker. Wrong, it took them around 25 minutes after ordering each drink to bring it over, so we had to start doubling up. As for the food? The guacamole and chips starter was half an avocado sort of chopped up, not mixed with anything. The spicy chicken wings were sticky, not spicy. The squid was tasteless and chewy, but the truffle arranchini was nice.

Mains, 3 of the burgers came out uncooked and stone cold, they went back and took another 25 minutes to replace, by which time we’d eaten the rest. All of the chicken burgers came with no spicy sauce as per menu. There are NO actual veggie options apart from a plain pizza. My friend asked for the Caesar salad without chicken, to be told it had bacon and anchovies on it (it wasn’t detailed the menu) so she asked for it plain and actually received a bowl of gem lettuce and croutons, as apparently the dressing contained fish! The pizza was burnt and the charcoal rolls were so hard we couldn’t cut into them.

Ok so not all bad- the triple cooked chips and onion rings were good and the pork belly was nice.

The service was so slow, were were in there 2 and a half hours for 2 courses. We were offered free deserts as compensation, which we didn’t want so they knocked 25% off the bill. But they still charged us for the food we didn’t (couldn’t) eat and there was absolutely no customer service. We were told the chef was temporary and it was busy eating on a Saturday night! We were offered a return trip (at our own expense) on a quiet week night to sample the food properly... but we won’t be going back.

We booked this months ago for my birthday, hoping for the 8 of us to eat and dance all evening. We ended up leaving at 1030, hungry and fed up.

Do not eat here.

First bit of good sunshine this week since this hotel opened. It was very busy and very noisy. They clearly cannot cope with the size of bar they created. Terrible service and a desperate need for more bar staff. We gave our order to two waiters. 40 mins later, still no drinks. A barman said he could not serve me at the bar as he said he had too many waiters orders to get through. Come on guys, get your act together for the summer months. Simply not good enough for a 5 Star Hotel.

User

Arrived for my wife’s birthday meal and went to the bar to wait for friends.... after waiting 15 minutes to be served the barman informed me I had to move to the other end of the bar and join another queue, when my friend pointed out this was unfair she was told to ‘calm down’. We then moved to our table and proceeded to order..... one of my friends who is vegetarian decided to order the Caesar salad which stated salad, croutons and egg.... upon ordering she was told it contained bacon and anchovies (not according to the menu) so she asked for it without the bacon and anchovies but was told the dressing contained anchovies. Apparently they couldn’t do a different dressing. So she ordered pizza. Our meals the cake out over an hour later. 3 burgers were basically raw and cold and the pizza was burnt. We were offered free deserts which we declined so the manager knocked 50% off the burgers and 25% off the remainder. As the pizza was burnt we declined to pay for that and were told that’s not burnt it’s how they’re cooked in Italy. Basically a horrendous evening and no matter how much we insisted we didn’t want to pay at all for certain items were told this isn’t possible. Please don’t advise to email Jorge as this was who we spoke to!

Absolutely awful. We booked a table of 8 for my boyfriend's birthday and had one of the worst experiences.

I was given the wrong wine and was told I was wrong and it WAS what I had asked for, it took them an hour to bring me the correct wine, after asking four times and being ignored when she brought other drinks out, funnily enough it was the wine I had asked for in the first place. I had to settle for the water that was already on the table for the first hour as it actually arrived half way through my main meal.

When ordering our mains, we were told 'no pizza' when we were about to order 8 pizzas and not given a reason why, she even went to ask why and then just came back and said 'yep, no pizza.' umm why? 'not sure'... great!

She then took our starter orders and said she'd be back in 2 minutes for our mains, 20 minutes later our starters have arrived and we all still have our menus and are yet to order. So we had to move them out the way and wait for our starters to go cold while she took our orders.

We were given different portions for our chicken wings, some had four, some had three so we complained and were told they would bring out the extras, which they did but much much later (just before our mains came out)

The tortilla chips were undunkable in the guacamole, just crumbs as if someone had jumped up and down on the bag.

Service was incredibly slow and we received our drinks after we had finished our main meals (despite ordering them 20 minutes before our main meals arrived)

The surprise of the cake for the birthday was also ruined as the waitress asked if we wanted desserts to which we had to mouth to her CAKE... and she just said WHAT over and over.. if that didn't give it away maybe her bringing 8 plates out and a knife and putting them right next to our table did the trick! Surprise ruined!

We then waited around 30 minutes for our bill after finishing and had to ask 3 different people, we then complained and the manager came over and argued that he was right and we were all wrong... How on earth is this manager still working here, do you not read your reviews?! How many complaints does it take to realise!

Very very disappointed indeed, we all left feeling like we didn't want to pay and I doubt any of us will be back!

A great shame as this venue has so much potential, listen to your customers and make amendments!!
