Are you planning a bonfire this weekend? Please check it before you light it. Especially if it's been set up for a good while, it could be a home to a hedgehog. π¦πΎ If you do find one, contact the British Hedgehog Preservation Society on 01584 890801 for advice or if it's injured, please take to your nearest vet for emergency treatment. ππ

We understand that sometimes, nothing can really appear to help take the fear away from your pets if they really suffer during this time. We do stock nutracalm, we've had some great reviews so far. Please do call in for more info, it's a non prescription product so you don't need an appointment if you'd like to give this a try. π β

Please #rememberhedgehogs and other wildlife and pets on #BonfireNight move bonfire piles just before they are to be lit and check carefully, then light from only one side to allow escape route should you have missed anything! PLEASE SHARE ππ¦π
Halloween can be a scary time for pets! π± Please bear in mind that they might just behave out of character towards strange sights and sounds that occur during this time!
Stress Signs to look out for are... π Wide eyes π Panting or pacing... π Seeking somewhere to hide π Reacting to sounds by increased barking.
Remember... It's ok to comfort them, please don't just ignore the behaviour. π€
If you don't intend on opening your door to trick-or-treaters it may be worth switching off your door bell. π

A timely reminder... β οΈIs your dog protected against Lungworm?β οΈ
Lungworm is a parasite that can cause serious health problems in dogs. This time last year, we had two cases! Sadly one fatality and one severe case.
... Poor Pep was at the point of collapse when he was diagnosed last year and has made a remarkable recovery following intensive treatment!
π Slugs & snails are hosts to the parasite and all dogs are at risk of contracting it, so it is important that every dog owner is aware.
πAutumnal weather conditions are perfect for these hosts!
πWe urge all dog owners to please make sure that you are using a worming treatment that protects against lungworm.
**For complete protection this should also be administered monthly.**

Would just like to thank Richard and his team so much, youβve helped me and my dog so much this week , have messaged me through the day to check how things were going , have sat with us round the house and Richard managed to get his team together late at night for our dog to be rushed in went on until early hours of the morning, on a very cold night , took great care of my dog and did an amazing job , Richard and team were amazing , thank you again οΏ½
Very friendly and professional staff. Emergency care and support has been great along with excellent advice for caring for our kittens.
This vets is the best in Southampton, the receptionist/ nurses are so friendly and helpful and Richard the vet is superb with my rabbits unlike other practices that had hurt my previous bunny. When I had to have my previous bunny put down the girls there were fantastic in consoling me and then the card and poem they sent days later was beautiful and truly meant a lot. The team at harrier are honestly amazing and I highly recommend them! Xx
The staff go above and beyond. Richard and the girls are so caring and helpful, I couldn't ask for anything better in a vet. Thank you guys.
Thanks so much to everyone at surgery who looked after Buddy and gave me advice on how to get him drinking more. Pleased to say the water fountain has been a hit and heβs back to full fitness again. Wonderful, caring team!
Thank you all so much for taking such great care of our Florence and Paddington while they were with you today. Flo is recovering from her spay really well and Paddington seems to have really enjoyed his time with you, even though he had his teeth cleaned and is a grumpy old man! Can't thank you all enough. Lots of love, Nina xx
Really pleased we chose to register our rehomed (house) rabbit at Harrier Veterinary Surgery. We did this based on a personal recommendation. The staff are all so attentive to both animal and owner and I have had no trouble getting a suitable appointment - even same day for a claw clip! I also love all the activity on social media like Facebook/Twitter/Instagram which is great for a small local business and some really informative posts. Great work but hope to only be back for claws, health check and annual jabs
Really friendly place, all staff are great and make you and your pets feel welcome. Always happy to give advice . Trust them 100% with both my cats and guinea pigs .
Our cat Spitfire developed a serious abscess over the weekend while we were visiting Hamble Point Marina by boat. Even though he wasnβt a patient there, Harrier Vets saw him in within two hours of our calling and had him in surgery later that afternoon. They took excellent care of him and even gave us a ride home that evening. Spitfire is recovering well and we really appreciate the quick and professional service.
My cats dexter & jethro are always well looked after and all the staff are so lovely with them. I would recommend anyone coming here. Xx
My 2 fur babies are very well looked after here οΏ½
My 2 adorable cats James & Phoebe have been looked after by Harrier Vets for nearly 10 years now. Fantastic staff who have given the best care & treatment over the years.
Moved to this vets recently because we werenβt happy with our previous vets and Iβm so glad we did. Richard and his staff have been amazing with our poorly old Staffie Lucy, as well as helping to keep my two daughters entertained while we were waiting for X-rays and appointments etc. They were also really supportive when I received difficult news about Lucy. Canβt rate this vet practice highly enough. οΏ½
Just like to say a big Thank You To the vet on duty and all the kind nursing staff etc for just being there for my beautiful Shiloh . She was well looked after before and after her opp .so once again οΏ½ Thanks
Just got back from the Harrier Vets and I wanted to say how extremely happy I have been that I made the choice to switch my vets to them. Such a lovely bunch of people who are welcoming and caring for your pet. The Vet is extremely thorough and all staff are personable and attentive :-) thanks
I would like to thank Andy and all the staff at the Harrier Vet's for assessing and looking after Hollie today. Excellent care and Service as always.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the receptionist/ nurses and Richard the vet who was superbat with Heidi at Harrier Veterinary Surgery in Hamble.
Richard and the nurse were excellent at last moment of Heidi life, I don't think Heidi knew what was going on as she was busy being feed her favorite tidbit, also it help me deal as best I could at this sad moment.
Having recently moved to Hamble, we felt worried to take our puppy and our cat to a different vets, however, I can truly say that the staff are fantastic here (incredibly friendly), give great advice and are very thorough. Highly recommend!
Finally a vets I can trust. They have been amazing with my dog who is difficult. I can't thank them enough for the effort they have put in. I really do appreciate all the staff and I was at ease throughout the visits. Thank you.
