Tonight, on the eve of World Mental Health Awareness Day, we joined ZoieLogic Dance Theatre at their powerful evening of dance, shining a light on men’s mental health.
We had conversations about the places that help people with their health, at the Health Model Village.
Many people talk about the “5 ways to wellbeing” - connect, be active, keep learning, give, and take notice. A useful reminders of some ways to keep healthy.
... And remember you can contact your GP, Solent Mind or ask friends to help you take the next step towards support.

Today was the launch of Black History Month in Southampton. There’s an engaging and thoughtful series of happening this Autumn. Delighted that some wonderful people won awards today, including Abdoulie Sanneh from West Itchen Community Trust.

We’re delighted that we have some different groups and services joining us on sections of our health tour on Friday: * Southampton Collective will be October Books so you can talk to them about their Breathing Spaces air quality project in St Denys; * St Mary’s GP Surgery will be connecting with our Walk & Wheel - meet at 10am at Shopmobility near the Bargate and together we’ll do a walking pace tour through St Mary’s; * Come and talk to Southampton City Council Blue Badge T...eam - 11.30am at SeaCity museum cafe - you can ask about changes to the blue badge criteria to accommodate hidden disabilities; * Find out about the Well@Work Project run by the City Council, which is helping employers to support their staff; * Join us in meeting NHS Southampton City CCG staff at our short break at 1pm at Oakley Road Offices (be part of the cycle there?); * Find our more about ZoieLogic Dance Theatre Headfunk, which will be shining a light on men’s mental health in October, when we visit our final stop - 3.30pm at Nuffield Southampton Theatres NST City in Guildhall Square - plus contribute to the Southampton Art in Health forum’s emerging Health Model Village.
