On this feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, take time out to watch this excellent talk from Father Mike Schmitz on why and how we should "Pray The Mass Like Never Before."

Epiphany (also known as Twelfth Night, Theophany, or Three Kings Day) marks the occasion of a time-honoured Christian tradition of “chalking the doors.” The formula for the ritual — adapted for 2019 — is simple: take chalk of any colour and write the following above the entrance of your home: 20 + C + M + B + 19.

Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Epiphany. "The Lord and ruler is coming; kingship is his, and government and power." Epiphany means manifestation. What the Church celebrates today is the manifestation of our Lord to the whole world; after being made known to the shepherds of Bethlehem He is revealed to the Magi who have come from the East to adore Him. #epiphany2019 #epiphanyofthelord

As is traditional on the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, this weekend there will be Blessed Chalk available after each Mass. You can take this to mark the door of your home, inviting Christ to make His home in yours and making Him known to neighbours and guests.

Our Youth Group will meet on Saturday 5 January from 3-6 p.m. for an Epiphany Party. All who have received First Holy Communion (to 18 years) are welcome to join us and enjoy this amazing homemade Galette Des Rois - a traditional French cake for Epiphany! 👑👑👑

DID YOU KNOW?
A plenary indulgence may be gained by reciting or singing the hymn Veni Creator Spiritus on the first day of the year. This hymn is traditionally sung for beginnings of things, calling on the Holy Spirit before endeavoring something new. #happynewyear2019 #venicreatorspiritus

Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, our Lady's greatest title. This feast is the octave of Christmas. In the modern Roman Calendar only Christmas and Easter enjoy the privilege of an octave. According to the 1962 Missal of St. John XXIII the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, today is the Solemnity of Circumcision of Our Lord.

Start 2019 with Jesus and Mary, joining us for a Sung Mass at 10.30 a.m. on New Year’s Day, the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. After Mass we invite you to enjoy a glass of Prosecco with us to celebrate the new calendar year. The Mass will begin with the traditional Hymn to the Holy Spirit, “Veni Creator Spiritus,” to invoke the Holy Spirit on all that lies before us in the months ahead.

Today is the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. #theholyfamily

Today is the feast day of the Holy Family, but also every family's feast day, since the Holy Family is the patron and model of all Christian families. Today should be a huge family feast, since it is devoted entirely to the Holy Family as a model for the Christian family life.

During this octave of Christmas the Church celebrates the memory of the small children of the neighborhood of Bethlehem put to death by Herod. Sacrificed by a wicked monarch, these innocent lives bear witness to Christ who was persecuted from the time of His birth by a world which would not receive Him.

This evening after Mass we blessed wine to mark the Feast of Saint John, and then shared it together with some mince pies afterwards! 🍷🎄🥧

Today is the third day in the octave of Christmas. The Church celebrates the Feast of St. John, apostle and evangelist.St. John was the only one of the Apostles who did not forsake the Savior in the hour of His Passion and Death.

By tradition, Saint John the Apostle was preserved from death when he drank a chalice of wine poisoned by his enemies. He had blessed the wine first, and so for this reason on his feast day (27 December) the Church blesses wine as reminder of what She calls “Saint John’s Love,” in trusting in Christ. Join us for Mass at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday 27 December, the Feast of Saint John, for Low Mass (Latin, Extraordinary Form) and the Blessing of Wine. Bring your own wine to be blessed and to enjoy with others afterwards!

There are two principal feasts in the Liturgical Year: Easter and Christmas. These are both solemnities (and holydays of obligation) and in the current Liturgical Calendar are the only feasts that have octaves attached.
