So many wonderful memories made in this special place. My husband and I had our wedding reception in the Master Gunners Room, daughter Anna had hers too but in the Keep. My 60th Sixties Birthday party, also in the Master Gunners room and so many other happy events that our families have enjoyed at the Castle. The most recent was the return visit by the Company of Pikemen and Musketeers to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Friends of Hurst Castle. We're so lucky to have this amazing Monument on our doorstep and be priveleged to help look after it for future generations, and keep it open to the public.

Park at the end of the spit.

30min walk to the castle. Or even walk in the sea.

Agreed with previous comments about the cafe. Girl serving isn't quick, but also needs to speak up more. If I was commenting on the cafe it would be 2 stars.

But the cafe is run separate from the castle.

It looks run down on the approach. But once you get in. You learn a lot.

Great place to go. Some interesting things lined up for the children. We did the walk at the front of the castle. Got some great pics!!

User

Lovely and full of history and great for kids to explore. We had a lovely walk along the spit to the castle and took the ferry back. Highly recommend for a great day out.

User

Loved this place a beautiful long walk along the beach to this marvellous place full of history and in an exquisite location. Takes some beating.

User

Loved it! The walk along the spit was brilliant and there was so much to see and do once we got to the castle. Would highly recommend

I really enjoyed visiting Hurst Castle it is really idyllic, unspoilt and the views are spectacular. I would thoroughly recommend a visit and it is a lovely boat ride on the ferry to the castle.

User

Grew up in the New Forest but had never been to Hurst Castle. What a fabulous place: ferry to save a very long walk bit only gave ourselves 2 hours thinking not much to see. We were very wrong so will have to come back another day ☺☺

User

Got the boat to and from which the kids loved (think the walk may have been too much). Castle was different and fun with lots of nooks and crannies to investigate. Beautiful views and really friendly staff. Will definitely go back again!

What a fascinating place!! We enjoyed the long walk along the beach to get there (it was rather more painful on the return journey though). Although there is a lot of work being carried out on the buildings, it didn't spoil the overall feel of the place. The cafe was welcome and good value. It only takes cash though, FYI. The castle is huge and we thought it would never end. From 1540 to WWII, this place oozes history. I could easily imagine soldiers busily going about their duties here. It was fascinating and we enjoyed exploring all the different levels and rooms. The views were amazing from the rooftops. A great value for money day out. We'll definitely be back (but take the boat back next time)! :)

We had a nice walk from the car park along the shingle to the Castle. There were some lovely views and the cup of tea in the cafe was very welcome. We caught the ferry back, the chap on the ferry was lovely and helped the dog come aboard. It was a nice morning out.

User

Much improved from previous visits some years ago. A stiff walk along the shingle spit, to find that the castle opened at 10:30 and the café at 11:30. However there were numerous exhibitions in the gun bays which although verging on the eccentric in places gave fascinating information about the castle and the lighthouse. We have an interest, because my wife's grandfather played football against the garrison in the interwar years, on a pitch that has long been reclaimed by scrub. We saw the ferry plying to and fro but felt virtuous taking the Spit. Rock pipits and ravens to see, with the possibility of gannets off the Needles, and the Waverley paddle steamer obliged us by sailing past.

User

Had a lovely day took dog on boat and back. Went in castle for something to eat at cafe. And found a nice little bay to swim in.

User

After quite a walk down a shingle spit, what greeted us at the was a pretty impressive sight. The views across the Solent were stunning, but also there was lots to look at inside. All in all an amazing inside into the role this Fortress played during the Second World War. Recommending taking the little boat back to Keyhaven.

User

This place is awesome but totally under sells its self. What a wonderful way to learn about the war informally! We walked there over the spit and took the ferry back through the salt marshes. The light house information......who knew?!!!

User

Nice sea area, a lot of walking.exhibitions very old and like forgottencrazy long queue to the boat way back so was easier to walk.

User

Be aware before you walk along the awkward shingle spit that you can’t reward yourself with a nice cup of coffee or use the facilities unless you pay to go into the castle!

So a coffee and cake at Raft on the way back which really hit the spot!!

User

£5 to enter the Cafe??? I think not!
