Dead Bug Style!
Dead bug style is actually a proper electronics prototyping term and refers to the upside down IC package in these images. Here we have an EEPROM (electrically erasable programmable readonly memory) which is programmed with an EFI (extensible firmware interface). Without this, your MacBook can not POST or boot. The EFI on this MacBook was a little buggy 🤣 , so we fixed it. Terrible humour, great board repair. CONTACT US!

We Care About Balls
To reduce thermal stress on a graphics chip during fitting we take a NEW GPU chip and replace the lead-free high melt point solder balls with lead solder balls of a lower eutectic melt point. This is because the GPU internal interconnects have ~ the same melt point as the original lead free balls. Placing less thermal stress on the chip during fitting ensures longevity of the new GPU. NOTE: It’s the internal connections that cause GPUs to fail as illustrated here.

How Much Corrosion Can Kill A Logic Board?
In this image is a 0.2 x 0.6mm resistor next to the SMC (on the left). Corrosion to a single resistor and a tiny amount of corrosion under the SMC caused no light on the MagSafe charger and no power to the MacBook. Apple previously quoted for a complete new logic board. We have replaced this resistor, cleaned the board in our Crest CP500D ultrasonic cleaner and the MacBook is now fully working.

MacBook Pro Retina 15” Random Black Screen
MacBook 15” from late 2013 to 2015 have a common random black screen issue. After receiving a number of boards that have been to other “repair” services, it is apparent that the cause and repair are not commonly known. The issue is the 3x DrMOS synchronous buck DC - DC gate drivers.

Failed Hard Drive Data Recovery.
On inspection we found the controller board had corroded VIAS and traces. Like any physical failure data recovery, this repair is only a patch up in order to access the drive. All customer data has been imaged and restored to a new HDD. Our data recovery service includes Android phones, SD cards and more. Lost your cherished pictures to a broken phone? GET IN TOUCH!

Apple's Heinous Misdiagnosis
Customer was quoted by an 'Apple genius' for new logic board and IO board. We found it only needed a battery. It may be worth noting that the Apple repair price was comparable to that of a new device, AND a recycling service for defective MacBooks is on offer at no cost to the customer! 🤔.......Riiiiiiight. 🤐

Liquid Damaged MacBook Pro
The burned components pictured are not from immediate liquid contact, but from corrosion that set in under the SMC, causing shorts, days after the MacBook had been dried. No amount of magic rice or airing cupboards will stop corrosion. This MacBook is now fully working after repair, with no thanks to the extra long grain basmati!

MacBook Pro no MagSafe light
This 2014 13” MacBook Pro Retina would not power on and had no green / orange charing LED on the MagSafe connector. The issue as a failed SMC. With a new SMC fitted the MacBook is now fully working.

2017 MacBook Pro Data Recovery
MacBook Pro 2016 / 17 SSDs are soldered to the logic board. Data recovery is only possible via the XDP Jtag port using proprietary Apple hardware. This tool allows us to recover data directly from non-functional, A1706 A1707 MacBook Pro logic boards.

Unlock for any MacBook
MacBook sent in from a college after a student had locked the EFI firmware. EEPROM chip removed, firmware dumped, corrected and flashed back to the EEPROM. This MacBook is now back to factory settings and ready for the new user. We only provide this service for business customers or customers with proof of ownership.

MacBook Pro Retina Not Booting
2015 13” MacBook Pro would not fully boot, hanging on the loading bar. The issue was corrupted EFI (BIOS). We removed the old chip, took an uncorrupted EFI firmware file with a clean ME region, modified serial number and the correct CRC checksum. With the new EEPROM fitted the MacBook is now fully working. Non-booting MacBook? Get in touch!

ONLY USE GENUINE APPLE CHARGERS!
A common logic board fault - shorted ceramic capacitor.
This MacBook was plugged in to a fake eBay Apple charger (roughly £40). Had this MacBook been plugged into a genuine charger, the charger would've detected an over-current, and cut power. The third party charger, however, does not have the necessary circuitry and continued throwing power into the board, causing irreparable damage (multi-layer burns) to the logic board. ... A simple fix has turned into a catastrophic failure, all for the sake of saving £40 - Only buy chargers directly from Apple.

Liquid damaged Macbook Pro Retina 15" with both the logic board and screen affected - damage to the display was located to the screens internal eDP connector. Said connector was removed, pads cleaned up and a new connector was soldered onto the display assembly.
Most repair shops would've charged for an entirely new screen, in the region of £400+. Not only have we saved the customer money, we've also prevented needless eWaste which is so prevalent in this industry. Suffering from something similar? Message us!
