I went with little expectation as have never been to a spa before. We were treated amazingly from the moment we arrived and couldn’t work out the car park to the moment we left. Everyone we met was helpful and smartly dressed from the car park guy and the maintenance workers to the beauticians and the cleaners. We were met with a lovely fruit shot then taken to the swimming/sauna/steam rooms. They were immaculate, we spent an hour there before going to our treatments. My lady was lovely 😊 you could tell she really enjoyed her job. Did a great massage and facial. Then we had to leave due to another appointment (mother and daughter day). My only critique would be the fact that on every call I made to the spa, and there were at least 12, I had to leave a message. I always received a call back, but that peeved me. I would recommend this 100%. I will definately be looking to go again. Thank you for a lovely morning💕

User

I recently visited the spa as part of my hen do weekend, I have to say I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as I had never been to a spa before but I loved every minute of it.

The treatment I chose was the back, neck and shoulder massage and I had the lovely Sylvia do this for me, she was fantastic and I could have stayed there all day.

I enjoyed it that much that I have booked myself and my partner in to return once we are married as an after wedding relaxation day.

I can’t wait to return.

Thank you!!

User

I booked a night here in February and unfortunately we complained due to an issue while there. However the hotel apologised and offered us another night to compensate , which we took on 14th July. We had a wonderful stay and the staff put some lovely extra touches in our room. We enjoyed the spa facilities and the breakfast was amazing. Will definitely return. Highly recommend

User

Had an amazing time for our spa day today - staff were excellent, facilities all working perfectly and our cream tea was lovely. Also had an incredible massage with Sherene. Will definitely return! Thank you all :-)

Hotel is a great location opposite the harbour, but this makes it a little noisy if that bothers you. I paid extra to upgrade to a balcony room. Room was a little dated but clean and spacious. Problems were with service. They advertise ‘make your day’ service but I had to prove several times that my rate included parking and in the end the bill still came with it added.

User

Excellent modern hotel built in 1994. Opposite the Cruise terminal, WestQuay market with cinema just 5mins walkable with another market place near Ikea including McDonald’s etc etc. 10 min walk to high street with eateries and stores like Co-op, tesco express, Lidl, Subway, Burger King etc etc or drive to the high street(paid but v limited parking on the high street, so better walk!)

Wonderful good size indoor swimming pool(1.2 metre deep so ok for both kids and adults) with a hot jacuzzi tub for adults in the pool area(7am-9pm)

Had a gym for adults too with free tea/coffee just at the pool/spa reception.

The breakfast was ok as usual in any other hotel with same menu on all days I guess so(we stayed in v good sized family room).

The rooms and bath were good and clean though a little fridge/freezer would have been great in nowadays times(there was plenty of unused spaces in closets/under table for it).

Staff was v good and ever helpful. The only thing we tried for the first time was not to use their housekeeping service on the second day(called

Go Green and you can then have a £5 discount adjusted on the bill or can take it off your overnight parking charges of £10(but you’ll probably need to tell the reception staff to adjust this fiver! Now the downside of this service was our room obviously wasn’t restocked for any tea/coffee sachets or toiletries and even the toilet rolls let alone the beds etc which one would expect not to me made as we opted out ourselves🤷‍♂️

So this was the first and last time we ever opted out of not getting our room cleaned the next day! Pointless

And finally the small car park which most of the times was tight considering the good number of rooms this hotel has and other party guests too coming in their cars that I dared not take my car out in the evening especially(the parking would then spill up over the yellow lines just around the entrance area to the hotel lobby.

Will go again, excellent under rated hotel!

Can up their game a lot if they even make the subtle changes their customers expect or suggest.

User

Was looking forward to visiting for my afternoon tea and dinner in the Marco Pierre white restaurant. But the afternoon tea was nothing special. I was glad we didn't pay full price. It was ok but not what I was expecting. The dinner was the same. Very average. Not horrible but average at best. The staff were nice, if a little aloof.

The bar though was lovely. Really pleasant girl made gorgeous cocktails, and was very friendly.

The room needed TLC and was tired looking but a good size with lovely views. The most disappointing thing were the pillows!!! So uncomfortable, lumpy, old and shapeless. Didn't have a good night and woke up aching everywhere!

User

Nice welcome. However my towel had a yellow stain all down it was embarrassed as people may have thought it was me. Facial was lovely however when I asked for advice on my skin was told to exfoliate which I do and get advice from a dermatologist. Thought some basic advice would have been nice. Jacousi was lovely heat but blast was rubbish. I have a bad knee and hoped it would help but no. Swimming pool ridiculously cold. Lunch was lovely buy did take 2 +hours. A bit longer than anticipated. Buy again was very tasty. All in all ok but not the experience I expected and it was for a friend's 50th birthday so dissatisfied and won't be back again.

User

Four of us went for a half spa day using Groupon voucher. We basically got what we paid for. The swimming pool was ok but it clearly states no ball games so a couple of teenagers playing ball in there....the sunny end of the pool is tired and in desperate need of some tlc...paintwork is peeling off and is an eyesore. Sauna and steam room are ok but the Jacuzzi is rubbish. No bubbles at all. There is no atmosphere at all around any of the spa facilities. Steam and sauna are hidden away from the pool and the whole place needs a refurbishment and freshening up. Treatments were ok but the therapists were a bit like robots. Did the treatments and that was that

Not a lot of personality shone through. Cream tea was ok but nothing special. Proseco was flat and coffee well brewed. Not what you really expect in a Marco Pierre white restaurant. All in all average for the price we paid but would've been cross if we'd had paid full price for really what was a rather disappointing half day spa. Would not recommend...

User

Was treated to a spa day, The sauna wasn't! working and I was surprised about the condition of the spa area was expecting a LOT better, as you lay around the pool the paint above you is coming off in chunks and the whole place was shabby not at all what I expected. The inclusive meal was very nice and the lady doing the treatments was pleasant and appeared knowledgeable, I was expecting the height of luxury as it was the Grand Harbour and because of the price paid, but it certainly wasn't luxurious, i would say it was mildly pleasant but very over priced. To be honest I think they cater more for the 'cruise' guests staying for the night, not for local's wishing to enjoy a bit of luxury. Would I return....no

User

I treated my partner to a spa afternoon for his 30th on Friday the 27th in what I thought was one of the better hotels in Southampton. The spa facilities are not spa facilities at all! The pool was freezing, to the point I couldn’t get in. I asked a member of staff why it was so cold and she replied it was 29 degrees and walked off swiftly and rolling her eyes. Local ladies using the pool agreed it was much colder then normal and unbearable to be in for long and my partner only lasted a few minutes. The jacuzzi was also out of order in our free time in the spa ( it was fixed for the last 5 minutes we were there but obviously become over crowded quickly with people trying to make the use of one thing working) the steam room was out of order aswell. so we had use of the sun beds which had a view of peeling paint and dirty ceilings and then the Turkish sauna. The staff in the restaurant were very offish and unfriendly, the staff at the spa weren’t particularly warm either neither that at the front desk when asking for directions. The ladies and gent in the salon were much more welcoming and The only part of the experience that saves this being a 1 star was the massage. Very disappointed.

Christmas Party night 08-12-18

Very little Christmas atmosphere ! The bar and Mayflower room had no Christmas decor ! Food at best average, best thing of the night was the friends with me and the Disco, very disappointed, as I have been many times at other functions at this hotel and have always had a great time ďż˝

Booked in for the evening after celebrating my husband’s birthday at a restaurant at West Quay shopping centre. On arrival just before 9pm there was no one to greet us at the reception desk or at the concierge desk. Pacing the lobby up and down looking for someone to check us in, I managed to find and eventually get the attention of what seemed to be staff members having a chat.

When we got to our room (which we booked for 4), there was only one double bed and nothing ready for our children to sleep on. When we called reception, they said they would bring beds up. This took another 15-20minutes! Kids were very tired at this point. When the beds came the duvet inner was missing, so just had a thin duvet cover for my son. We asked for a blanket or small duvet - which arrived another 15mins later in a bundled up state and was a big double bed duvet which appeared to be from the laundry! My son ended up sleeping in the bed with us and we luckily had our camping cot from our car for our baby. No spare bedding in cupboards like most hotels provide.

Bath was dirty, toilet wouldn’t flush properly... staff wasn’t really friendly.

This was our first experience here - we’ve always been keen to try it and maybe try the spa too however, we won’t be returning here. The Premier Inn is much better for less money!

Really disappointed.

Two stars only because the location is good - but there are much better hotel options in the same area.

User

Arrived at this Hotel at 9.00 am in the morning to book in

Waited until 3.30 in the afternoon befor we could access our room What a waste of our time and our money Would never stay here again We are guests from Australia This wouldn’t happen in Australia We were not even offered a complimentary drink Very disappointing

User

Stayed here for my partners birthday as a treat and was absolutely disgusted with the service. Have also contacted the hotel 3 times to complain but have had no response in over a week.

We arrived in the evening and went to visit our room which we found to dreadfully plain for the amount that was charged. The room supposedly came with a ‘double bed’ but was actually two single beds pushed together - which was extremely uncomfortable through the night as both my partner and I struggled to sleep. The cleaning standards were also poor, there were stains in the toilet, cigarette butts on the balcony and a pile of clothes in the wardrobe, which we presumed belonged to the previous guests, so clearly the room hadn’t been cleaned efficiently.

After our uncomfortable night we went down to the breakfast at 8:30am which we added onto our booking and were again left frustrated at the awful standard. The shabby buffet didn’t come close to the “luxury” standard you set out to offer and quite frankly I’ve had better - cheaper - breakfasts at my local Wetherspoons. The food was cold and flavourless and the staff appeared unfazed to the negative comments.

In an attempt to make our disappointing stay better we decided to visit your spa so my partner could make the most of his birthday. When walking in we were told that the pool and spa facilities were out of order and we were not allowed entry.

My partner and I left the hotel as quick as possible to end our regrettable stay, his birthday treat was ruined and has left us both deeply saddened. The price you are charging for the horrendous standard is appalling the false advertising of the “luxury” and “grand” experience you offer has essentially proved to be a rip off.

DONT GO!

User

So...what an experience this hotel was. I don’t know if you should drop the name “Grand” off the front as it is far from grand. Reception staff were great and really friendly. But I went down hill from there.

Room service. The number just rang and rang. So I rung reception and ordered through them. After half an hour they turned up with 2 sachets of hot chocolate after ordering alcoholic drinks and bed lining for our travel cots. The place just looks and feels dirty. The water coming out the shower smelt like a pond. The bolts holding the balcony on were rusted through. If anyone fell into it I’m pretty sure it would fall out. So we payed extra for a sea view and didn’t even want to use the balcony. If you’re thinking of staying here, save yourself a lot of money and book in the premier inn over the road. What a dive.

User

So I booked the grand harbour as a surprise for my wedding night and the night after. We arrived with my wife still in her wedding dress only to be told that they had over booked and that we would not be able to stay, even though I booked and paid months in advance. We were told that lots of hotels do this which I thought was a ridiculous response. We were then told we could get a standard room at the jury's inn. After refusing that and having to wait 45 minutes they finally found us a suitable hotel. In the end we ended up having to spend one night at another hotel then coming back to spend our second night back at the grand harbour. Granted the night manager Ahmed was very professional and handled the situation well , but it's still a situation that should never have happened especially as I mentioned to the receptionist that it was our wedding night upon booking. We were told we would be contacted my customer relations within 48 hours, 62 later and still no call. Fair to say we were both very unhappy with the experience

User

Oh my god- just checked I to my executive king room at ÂŁ297 for the night because I wanted a sea view and you would have to be 10 ft tall to see it because there's a solid metal wall on balcony!! Did ask when checking in as they said it was on 1st floor and I queried this as I have stayed on such a room before and they were never on 1st floor- othets i hsve stayed in have an open meysl wrought railing balcony as on floors above me.Gutted! Cant get a hold of reception- they not answering

User

Oh dear, grand harbour, what happened? I last visited a number of years back, when you were a prestigious 5*luxury hotel. This is no longer the case.

My friend and I had an overnight spa experience booked with expectations of luxury and pampering. What we found were half hearted staff, who didn't have a clue what they were doing and quite frankly didn't care. Tatty, rusty, dirty spa facilties more suited to a local swimming pool, no water available to drink or indeed tea/coffee etc and a jacuzzi that was tepid and barely working!

We stayed one hour then asked for our money back and left! So so disappointed.

To top it off, I emailed today to check we had followed correct payment procedure in your car park and guess what? Nobody had bothered to reply!!! (I Will be back in touch if I get a parking fine as none of your staff seemed to know the coreect procedure!)

Absolutely appalling service! I will never return and I will never recommend!! Thank god we didn't actually pay in advance for it!

You need to up your game if you are selling spa packages, customers want more!

User
