Epic last 24 of the Rolex Middle Sea Race 2017.
A thrilling downhill sleigh ride from the top of Sicily around the Maltese islands and finally into Malta.
Leopard arrived at 00.18 local time with a tired and exhausted crew after some of the most thrilling sailing the crew have done in a long time.
... It was our normal, fantastic battle with Rambler 88.
Thank you to all of the 'usual suspects' on the permanent and race crew who all put in a fantastic effort in testing conditions.
It really is a big team effort and particularly nice to see a group of our past 'nippers' on for this race who over the years have all turned into successful, professional yachtsmen in their own right. You know who you are and we are very proud of each and every one of you!
Also a big thank you to our guest crew led by Mr. Pascal Oddo.

After 24 hours of really windy conditions, Leopard has just crossed the finish line of the Rolex Middle Sea Race coming in 2nd in Line Honours behind our friends on board Rambler 88.
An impressive result for Leopard and her crew especially as the charter crew are not professionals and had only been on the boat 3 times before the race start.
Well done to everybody on board.

Update from on board at 10.00 GMT:
"We are now through the straits of Messina and drifting in light air with only 1-2 knots of breeze.
The race has basically restarted overnight between Leopard, CQS and Momo with Rambler around 9-10nm ahead.
... We are currently 30nm from the island of Stromboli and are expecting to see a strong north westerly breeze around 7pm local time this evening. This strong breeze is expected to continue right through to the finish line in Malta.
More news later."

Earlier today and along with 102 other yachts, Leopard crossed the start line of the 38th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race.
Leopard is on charter for this race. The usual Leopard crew are joined by a team of 6 french guest crew, led by Mr. Pascal Oddo.
The 2 teams have come together as one and have trained in the local area since Wednesday. The moral on board is high and everyone was looking forward to today's race start.
... News from on board at 17.15 local time from boat Captain, Chris Sherlock:
“It was difficult conditions for the start for the Maxi fleet as there were lots of big boats in a tight area”, commented Chris.
“Leopard however had a fantastic start and was 2nd out of the harbour and 1st to the turning mark. Currently located off the coast of Sicily, in a dying breeze. Hopefully we will get favourable tide this evening through the Straits of Messina and then we will see what tomorrow brings.”
The Rolex Middle Sea Race is a circular course which offers a continuous challenge for the crews. This, along with a demanding circumnavigation of Sicily, ensures that the Middle Sea Race is one of the sailing world’s most exacting 600-nm races together with two the Rolex Fastnet and the Rolex Sydney Hobart.
More updates from on board throughout the race…..

Leopard 3 is currently on charter in Bermuda for our sponsor, PwC, during the Americas Cup. Amazing front row viewing and the racing action has to be up there with the best ever seen!
Its a shame that there is not a Leopard yacht in the Solent this summer (for the first time in 15+ years!) however its already clear that this event will be a very worthwhile and memorable one and we are only on day 4!
With friends on all 6 cup teams we are routing for each and every one! #AmericasCup

Great memories of our most recent Transatlantic crossing back in December. An experience shared with our friends on the guest crew when two teams came together as one....
Thanks Kolja Frase for all your efforts.

A lovely message from one of our charter group for the Loro Piana Superyacht regatta last week:
"I wanted to thank you personally for everything… I have never had such a professional chartered race, so well planned and driven in all circumstances! Very impressed and I want to do this again!"
Well done to all involved - a success all round!
... Next stop, St Barths Bucket regatta later this week....

Leopard crossed the finish line of the RORC C600 at 15.34 AST today with an elapsed time of 3 days, 4 hours, 14 minutes and 3 seconds. 2nd monohull over the line and 3rd in class - a great effort by all on board. Thanks must go to our charter friends that made up 50% of the crew for this race. Next stop....Virgin Gorda for the Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht regatta next month.

Leopard is currently in Antigua for the start of the 2017 RORC Caribbean 600 this Monday along with a record fleet of 80 of the world's most spectacular yachts and crews.
Leopard has been chartered for the race by the owner of the magnificent Baltic yacht 'Path' which Leopard competed alongside in the 2016 RORC Trans Atlantic race late last year.
The Path owner and his crew will join the Leopard regular crew members for what promises to be another ultimate showdown with arch... Rival Rambler 88. Leopard has come out on top in their last two head to head meetings winning the Maxi World Cup and Les Voiles De St Tropez. Leopard was always considered the underdog in the Caribbean regattas due to Rambler's early surfing ability but with a very unusual weather system she may prove to be a tough competitor.

Leopard 3 is currently in Antigua and has been transformed into full private charter mode ready for guests arriving this month - quite a contrast! Back to race mode though in good time for the RORC C600 starting on February 20th.

No rest for the wicked as they say....
Showered and refueled Leopard is on the move again already. The crew are extremely grateful for the warm welcome they have received today in Grenada however are pushed for time to reach Antigua before continuing with their busy Caribbean season.
Leopard's Captain, Chris Sherlock, commented:
... "We have had a great few hours here in Grenada and want to thank RORC and all involved for looking after us so well on arrival especially given the time we arrived!" Chris continued, "The Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina is a fantastic facility. The surveyed depth on the Superyacht dock is 7.5 metres, rarely available in the region and for a yacht like Leopard that draws 5.5m this is a huge bonus. We will look forward to returning to Grenada very soon."
