About Liver And Pancreatic Cancer Research And Development Charity
The team behind LAP R& D Cancer Charity has one overriding aim: to improve patient care and work together to beat Liver and Pancreatic cancer.
Liver And Pancreatic Cancer Research And Development Charity Description
Liver and Pancreatic Cancer affects more than 15, 000 patients in the UK every year. Liver and Pancreatic Cancers remain two of the worst cancers in terms of prognosis and survival rates, even when treated surgically, compared with other cancers such as breast and colonic cancers. Despite this, there is still a scarcity of funds dedicated to research and development to improve early detection and surgical treatment to improve results and survival rates.
The Southampton Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Team performs more than 200 major procedures every year for liver and pancreatic malignancies. Their results and approach is pioneering, having a positive impact on both patients and their families. The team recognised the need to create a charitable fund to further develop the surgical techniques, ensuring they become more widely available to Liver and Pancreatic Cancer sufferers.
The Charity was founded by Mr Hilal and colleagues in 2012 with the support of enthustiastic patients who agree on the need for help and support for patients affected by these serious conditions. By supporting research and the development of surgical treatment you will help us improve patient care and patient prognosis.
We are a fund registered under the Southampton Hospitals Charity. Registered number 1051543.

It is with much regret that we have to announce the cancellation of our two fundraising events (the Hoe Down and Evening of Song) that were planned for Saturday 6 June. We will reschedule these events as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime please stay safe and follow the advice. Our research continues and we will provide you with an update shortly.
In case anyone is unaware, Spire Southampton are only allowing patients in, no visitors what so ever.
We will try to keep you updated on health related developments particular to those with liver and pancreatic cancer associated issues during these challenging times. Please however, follow the advice from your medical specialist and on the government’s website https://www.gov.uk/…/covid-19-guidance- on-social-distancing…
Make the 6 June 2020 your evening to support the charity to raise funds for further research. Two events are planned for all budgets and tastes (full details are in the events section of our Facebook page) - "An Evening of Song" priced at £10 and a "Hoe down" priced at £100 including champagne reception, food, games, dancing and live band. We recommend getting your ticket orders in early as these are bound to be popular events!
