About Lymington Charter Market

Lymington Charter market was established back in 1250.
The market takes place on the High Street and is on every Saturday from 08: 00 - 16: 00

Lymington Charter Market Description

Lymington Charter Market is a traditional market, established in 1250.

When the town was given a Charter (a document granting certain rights to the people of the town), this enabled Medieval Lymington to hold its own market. Farmers, traders and merchants would come from far and wide to sell their goods.

The High Street was deliberately designed to be wide enough for a market to be held regularly. Nowadays, there are 100 + stalls along Lymington High Street every Saturday from 8am until late, which is popular with local residents, visitors and tourists alike.

Due to the severe weather, treacherous travelling conditions and after discussions with the NFDC waste team, it has been decided to cancel the market tomorrow.
I trust that everyone can appreciate the rationale behind this action and look forward to seeing you all at the Market the following week. - C Godfrey Town Clerk
